Just stay with me now. Say the word and we'll go. I'll be your teacher. I'll show you the ropes. Of all the places in Hogsmeade that Thayne could go hang out, The Hog's Head was probably his favorite. It was a seedy joint, for sure, but that was exactly the sort of place that he liked to be. There were all different kinds of people, all with something to hide or something weird about them and Thayne loved it. He'd much rather deal with the creeps that came through the Hog's Head than with all his fellow classmates over at the Three Broomsticks or something. It wasn't that he totally disliked them all, it was just that he didn't get along with the majority of his classmates. They were too much sometimes and he wasn't really in the mood to get into it that afternoon. Even Thayne liked to have a bit of peace and quiet sometimes and typically, the Hog's Head was the place to go if you were looking for that.
It was the kind of place that people didn't bother you. The reason they were there was to either avoid the crowds or be by themselves. It was like there was some sort of unspoken code at the Hog's Head. You don't bother anyone and they won't bother you. Today, that was exactly the sort of treatment that Thayne wanted. There was no denying that the boy could be a bit moody at times and generally it was best to just leave him alone when it came to those times. He was already a bit difficult to deal with, but when he really didn't want people around he could be an absolute bear to deal with. At least he was being respectful enough to get out of everyones way so they knew to leave him the hell alone. Of course, there would always be that one person that thought it was a good idea to bother him and he was more than prepared for that to happen. Really, the only way he could see himself actually avoiding everyone from school would be if he apparated away somewhere.
Even though Thayne generally intended to be on his own for the afternoon, he still put more effort into his outfit than was probably necessary. However, that's how he always was. He liked to look put together and always made sure he looked his best. So he always found himself putting effort into it, even if he wasn't going out with the express intention of impressing. As far as he was concerned, he should always be dressed to impress. His outfit together and ready to go, Thayne left from his dormitory to head over to Hogsmeade. Typically, he wouldn't have bothered walking and would catch one of the carriages heading over, but he hadn't exactly been keeping up on his exercising regime as of late and figured it would probably be a good idea to walk. It wasn't like a little effort would kill him. Probably.
Reaching the pub, Thayne slipped in through the front door and walked up to the counter. He found that the service was a lot quicker if you went up and asked for it, as opposed to waiting for them to come to you. Not ideal, perhaps, but it wasn't something that particularly bothered Thayne. Ordering himself just a butterbeer, since he generally didn't trust anything else from there, Thayne grabbed it and tossed a few galleons down on the counter to pay for whatever tab he racked up that day. He didn't have anything in particular to do, so he was more than happy to spend the day there drinking butterbeer and working on his school work. His plans for after school were to get into the Ministry, so he tended to put quite a deal of effort into working on his assignments. You never knew what could come of it and so, he did what he could and made sure that everything was as perfect as could be.

Lips that need no introduction Now who's the greater sin, Ah, what could Sage do today? Quite frankly, hanging around the school didn’t appeal to her in the slightest. The first years scrambled out of her way as she walked through the hallway back to her dormitory. She enjoyed the fact that she scared most of the younger, and older, students. She knew exactly why she intimidated them... she didn’t exactly look like a fairy princess. No, she was the evil step-sister, the wicked with, the jealous queen, she was most of all a Slytherin, and nobody looked to Slytherin if they wanted fluff, they could get all the fluff they needed from Hufflepuff. According to a very clever joke, they were particularly good finders.... and they were particularly good at staying out of Sage’s way. What she could really go for right now was a butterbeer, but without the pesky nuisance of her schoolmates. That’s all she needed was to run into a Gryffindor, or even better a marauder, when all she wanted was a quiet day.
The thing to know about Sage is that she’s not a fighter. People usually take one look at her and back right off, if not she’ll pull the Megan card... and if that doesn’t work, she’ll play the Talan card. If none of that works, she uses her wand. Sage wouldn’t fight, she was not like her father, she couldn’t use brute strength to get whatever she wanted, she relied on intimidation and strategy. Lucky for her, she got her brains from her mother. How she could fall in love with someone with the brain size of Gregory Goyle was beyond Sage... but she loved her father, and always would. She was a bit of a daddy’s girl after all. Right now, fighting seemed to be so far off in her radar that she just wanted some time to relax. The homework that she had, could be done later, way later, and her mom never got a response right away to the owls she sent Sage.
First off, Sage had to get changed out of her school uniform into something more... comfortable. Comfortable to sage meant dresses, stockings and boots. Half the time her outfits were more appropriate for Knockturn alley than a day out in Hogsmede. Her chances of being let into any “respectable” joint for a butterbeer was slim, especially when venues were supposed to be family friendly. Sage was not family friendly. The Hog’s head, wasn’t family friendly either, and it was her preferred destination for all her drinking needs. You could always count on someone strange being there, with a good story or two to be told. Then there were the people who just wanted to be left alone, they were the ones with the juicy past, the ones that were on the run, the dangerous ones. Sage liked danger, but not enough to put herself in harm’s way.
Not feeling like walking all the way down to Hogsmede, Sage caught the next Carriage out of Hogwarts. She could have walked, but in her boots? She didn’t want to, it would wreck them. She could have gotten the exercise, but she got enough of that from playing Quidditch. She was a beater just like her daddy was. Another thing he was quite proud of, especially when the Slytherin’s won their games. When the carriage stopped, Sage paid her dues before hopping out. She got looks from witches and wizards, and goblins alike. She ignored them all. It was something she was used to, and she was actually hoping that people would stop looking surprised and just accept the fact that she wasn’t going to dress to impress them. She was going to dress to terrify them.
Walking into the Boar’s head, she was greeted by the familiar sights and smells, and some not so familiar faces. Looking around the room, she didn’t feel out of place in the slightest. The dingy joint was the perfect place for Sage to just kick back with a butterbeer, and spot the people that were out of place. Her eyes wandered towards the bar, where an extremely familiar face popped out at her. Thayne was here. He looked so clean compared to his surroundings. He was a Crabbe and she was a Goyle, so of course they were best of friends, did you expect anything different? He had his face in a book, of course. She rolled her eyes at that and silently sat down next to him ”Give me whatever can knock me off my feet.”
Sage said, knowing the bar tender would just bring her a butterbeer... he always did. But Thayne’s reaction to that was what she was looking forward to. [/blockquote][/blockquote] notes;; ohai there tags;; Thayne words;; 782 lyrics;; The Feel Good Drag-Anberlin ourfit;; click!

Just stay with me now. Say the word and we'll go. I'll be your teacher. I'll show you the ropes. As Thayne had expected, most everyone tended to leave each other alone there at the Hog's Head. The type of people that tended to be around there were so caught up in their own business that they honestly couldn't have cared less what anyone else was up to. It was the perfect place to be if you just wanted to go about your day with little distraction from anyone else. Unlike most bars, it was quiet. There was the occasional peal of hearty laughter, but other than that it was mostly just hushed whispers and the clink of glasses on the table as people drank. It wasn't the place to go to get wildly drunk and start goofing around, it was the place to take care of something sketchy, or to get away from the crowds and that was what Thayne needed that afternoon.
Though the homework was never particularly difficult for the boy, he often preferred to get things done without the distractions that inevitably came up if you stayed in the castle to work. It got done much faster that way and left the boy with extra time to do other things that he enjoyed. Like reading or playing wizard's chess. True, he didn't have many interests outside of the more academic realm, but that was besides the point as far as he was concerned. Thayne wasn't much for the exciting, fast paced lives that most people around him led and that was okay with him. He didn't mind curling up in bed and reading for hours on end, it was just something that he liked. Going out and partying at the club or what have you just wasn't his scene, though many had tried and failed to get him out.
Flipping another page from the book he was scouring through, it took Thayne a few moments to realize that someone had sat down at the table with him. It wasn't odd for Thayne to get so caught up in his studies that nearly anything could happen around him and he wouldn't have a clue. Glancing up quickly to see who it was, a small smile appeared when he realized that it was Sage. He had known Sage more or less since they were born, given the closeness of their families. It was only inevitable that they had grown up to be extremely close friends and Thayne typically quite enjoyed her company. Though they had grown to be two completely different people, somehow they had still managed to retain just as close of a bond as when they were younger, which Thayne was pleased by.
He wasn't, however, pleased by the outfit she was wearing. He knew that this was just how Sage was, but he always felt like showing herself off like that, especially in seedy places like the Hog's Head, was almost like she was asking to get kidnapped and raped. Of course, he was probably over-exaggerating the situation quite a bit and getting into his typical "let's worry about Sage" kind of mood, but that was just how Thayne was. He had quite the protective streak over the girl and that was something that probably would never fade. "Sage, honestly? It's too early in the morning for that. Would you get her a butterbeer, please?" he questioned, addressing the bartender with a pleading look before turning back to Sage. His face revealed quite the concerned expression
Although he was fully aware that she was more than likely looking to get a rise out of him, as per usual, he couldn't help but want to launch into some long lecture about why she shouldn't be wearing something like that. Thanye bit his tongue though, holding back any sort of lectury talk that he wanted to start off with. "Well, hello Sage. What brings you to the Hog's Head?" he asked, quite politely. Thayne was always polite, no matter what the circumstances, so it wasn't too difficult for him to turn that side of him on over the concerned side. He also rather wanted to make a remark about how this certainly wasn't the right place to be dressed like that and she probably belonged more towards Knockturn Alley at night, but he refrained from that as well. He found it far too difficult to be any sort of rude towards Sage.

Lips that need no introduction Now who's the greater sin, There was a guy in an eye patch near the back of the Hog’s Head, and he looked fairly young. He was giving Sage “the look”, and she blew him a kiss. Wouldn’t it be a fun game of “guess where I hid my wand in this outfit” kind of thing. Although, she didn’t know a damn thing about him. He could have been a murder, or a bandit. There were so many possibilities. Maybe he had fought of rogue wizards trying to save his girlfriend, and lost his eye because of it. She liked to make up these stories in her head, it made finding out the truth that much more fun. Looking down at her boots, Sage could see how dirty they were. This place was dirty, it was grimy, it was disgusting... but it was perfect for her. You didn’t come here for a good time, you came here to get things done. Sage was going to get things done alright, in a different way than one may assume.
She most likely should have brought her homework with her. If she handed in one more assignment late, she was going to get detention. If she racked up anymore detentions, she most likely would have to buy a lazy boy recliner to make it more comfortable. Homework had no appeal to her today. She inherited her brains from her mother’s side of the family, so her grades were average. They weren’t barely passing like her dads had been, but they weren’t exactly above average like her moms. She was safely in the middle ground that was the safest place to be for her. The second her grades dropped, she knew she’d have to sacrifice some Quidditch practises to make up for it, that was the last thing that Sage wanted to.
Sage noticed, out the corner of her eye, that she had attracted Thayne’s attention. He was studying, as per usual. How he had any fun that way, Sage would never really know... although she could always count on him if she was in a pickle. She didn’t like it, that he could get hurt because of her, but she could count on him. Their fathers were best friends, so Sage has known Thayne for an extremely looooong time. Knowing her father, he had somehow planned this to happen. She couldn’t prove it, but she could only guess. They had grown up together, were best of friends, and despite’s Sage’s changes, they stuck together. She couldn’t imagine herself a day without seeing Thayne, or never having him in her life. The small smile she got out of him made herself smile. She did however notice that smile waver the second he saw what she was wearing. She always seemed to be lectured on how someone was going to come and grab her one day and kidnap her and take advantage of her then dump her body in the snow. She was highly doubtful that it would ever actually happen, which it wouldn’t as long as she had her wand, but she let Thayne lecture her anyway.
”Sage, honestly? It’s too early to in the morning for that. Would you get her a butterbeer, please?” Thayne said, Sage rolled her eyes at him. The bartender wasn’t going to give her anything stronger than butterbeer, he knew her father. Although, she wouldn’t mention a thing about that to Thayne. She liked getting a rise out of him whenever they hit up a bar. ”It’s never too early for hard liquor! Why else would bars be open early?
she asked teasingly. The bar tender brought her her butterbeer, which was simply butterbeer without anything laced or added to it. She had picked up a few useful tricks from coming to the Hog’s Head so often, like when the one legged lady taught her to be able to tell the difference between a laced drink, and a normal drink, no matter what it was. She couldn’t remember her name.... but she was an interesting character. ”Well, hello Sage. What brings you to the Hog’s Head?” Thayne asked, in his usual polite way. Sage thought about it for a moment, but her answer was always the same ”I’m looking for a good story teller, you know if sir eye patch has a good one?” she asked, referring the guy wearing an eye patch who was continently not looking at the right now. More so, she wanted to scare Thayne a little by making it seem like she was actually interested in Mr. Eye patch. She wasn’t touching that with a ten foot pole, she was just putting of her clothing choice lecture. ”What brings you to this little hole in the wall Crabbe?” She asked with her most innocent smile on her face. Just stay with me now. Say the word and we'll go. I'll be your teacher. I'll show you the ropes. To be fair, Sage had a point. There would be no purpose opening a bar up if there weren't people with the intention of getting knackered, even at such an early hour in the afternoon. However, that didn't mean that Thayne was going to sit by and let Sage start hitting the liquor practically before it was even midday. At the very least, he wanted to keep her sober long enough to see nightfall before he let her loose onto the world. His lips tightened into a clearly disapproving look as she spoke, not responding to her comment in any other way. As the bartender delivered her drink, Thayne's eyes searched it, expecting to see some indication that it was laced with ten different poisons and at least a dozen sketchy, foreign alcohols. His critical gaze remained on the drink for a few moments before switching back to Sage with a pout. He really quite hoped that the glass contained nothing more than a nice, nonalcoholic butterbeer.
Though, Thayne was sure Sage would lead him to believe it was otherwise, even if it wasn't. She liked getting a rise out of it, that much had become obvious quite early on in their friendship. Not that Thayne minded it, most of the time. At the very least, it kept things interesting, even if it did lead to his fretting over even the smallest of things. The two of them were close to the point where Thayne would have considered her a sister by now, as opposed to simply being a good friend. Thayne himself only had brothers, so having someone around like Sage just made him even more protective over her. Not to mention, she didn't have any older brothers, so it fell to Thayne to do the majority of the big brotherly things for the girl. It was just how things were and Thayne wouldn't have changed them for the world. Well, he could have done without some of the crazy antics, but that was just wishful thinking on his part.
Glancing over at the man in question that Sage was referring to, a rather sullen expression crossed his face. Of all the people in the bar to possibly have expressed interest in, it had to be that one? A part of Thayne wanted to believe that it was simply just a joke to rile him up further, but you could never really know with Sage. "I'd venture to say he has plenty of stories, though none quite tasteful enough for you to want to listen to," Thayne nodded. Of course, he was quite aware that "tasteful" was probably the last on a list of adjectives that Sage cared about for any sort of story, but he felt it worth mentioning. "Perhaps you'd best avoid that conversation," he added, tilting his head as he looked over at the other man. That definitely wasn't the sort that he wanted Sage to get messed up with and he quite hoped that she wouldn't do something stupid just for the sake of driving him off the wall.
Taking another sip from his butterbeer, Thayne cut his attentions back from man with the eyepatch, shaking his head slightly in disgust. While he didn't have any problems with the characters around the place, he did have a problem with Sage showing any sort of interest in them. The last thing he wanted to do that evening was try and track her down if she were to get kidnapped by a psychotic man with one eye. His fingers trailed around the rim of his glass for a moment in thought before he shrugged slightly. "I suppose I'm just here for the quiet. There was a bit of a fuss earlier in the commons, so I figured I might as well get a jump on things and just start out here," he nodded. It was easier to just start in a place that he knew would be quiet as opposed to trying and failing to have some semblance of peace in the commons room.

Lips that need no introduction Now who's the greater sin, Sage liked to tease Thayne a lot, he was like her older brother, he was protective of her, and she half liked it. It’s the days where she did something completely reckless and he could get hurt that she regretted being brought into his life. Thayne was the only person she wouldn’t bring into her arsenal of connections unless she was seriously screwed. He was like her brother, and Sage did not want to see her family get hurt. He was one of the few people she trusted with everything, honestly if he got sick of how she acted he could do something to stop it by dropping a few of her secrets, but he didn’t. He wasn’t that kind of friend. Sage did, however, believe that Thayne needed to get out more, and stop living in his books. He was quiet, not shy, just quiet. He was also extremely smart, and Sage envied him for that. Sage watched him look at her disapprovingly as she got her butterbeer, and then looked to her with a pout. Sage smirked, and took a nice long sip of her drink; it was time to play with Thayne a little. ”Good and strong, just how I like it.”
she said with a sly smile. She could feel the bar tender rolling his eyes at her, but he said nothing. He had given her a butterbeer; he didn’t have to deal with her any longer. Sage watched as Thayne glanced over to the guy with the eye patch, who was no longer ogling Sage’s long legs. His face fell into a rather sullen expression. Sage knew she could have picked anyone else in the bar, but she picked Mr. Eye Patch for the very reason that it would bug Thayne, not to mention she knew he had a story to tell. ”I’d venture to say he has plenty of stories, though none quite tasteful enough for you to want to listen to,” he said with a nod. Tasteful was the wrong word to use though, she didn’t care if it was Tasteful, as long as it was enough to catch a small spec of her attention. ”Perhaps you’d best avoid that conversation,” He added, looking over at the guy. Sage wasn’t going to push this joke any further, she did like seeing Thayne get riled, but if that wizard had power, she was not going to get Thayne hurt when he got protective of her…. Sage just liked seeing how far she could go. One day she’d go to far, she knew as much, but for now she was simply testing the waters. ”If it makes you happy, I’ll stay away, although you do look hot when you get all protective.” she said with her signature flirty grin. With Thayne, she pushed boundaries and tested grounds, she was bit mad like that, but he was still her best friend, and the only guy who had seen her without makeup on, and the only guy she’d stay for breakfast for. She was not implying that they were sleeping together, just that during breaks and the summer it wasn’t uncommon for her to stay the night at his house or vice versa. Sipping her butterbeer that was “strong” she watched Thayne shake his head in disgust. She knew that whenever she showed interest in anyone in the Hog’s Head, Thayne wouldn’t like it. He had this inane thought that she was going to get kidnapped raped and/or killed. Sage could hold her own against people, she always had her wand on her, she liked to think she could defend herself if it came to it, but it was nice having someone want to look out for her. ”I suppose I’m just here for the quiet. There was a bit of a fuss earlier in the commons, so I figured I might as well get a jump on things and just start out here,” he said with a nod. Sage thought about the commons and she shook her head, suddenly getting defensive ”I swear to Merlin it wasn’t my fault this time, the first years were messing with spells and a chair caught on fire…. It wasn’t my fault.” she said defensively. She knew she gave herself away to Thayne, but if it was anyone else… she would have lied through her teeth until her brain exploded. ”…so what homework are you even working on?” Save asked hastily trying to change the subject away from the commons and her defensiveness. Just stay with me now. Say the word and we'll go. I'll be your teacher. I'll show you the ropes. It was obvious by the way Thayne was anxiously shifting in his chair that Sage drinking the "alcohol" was quite bothering him. It wasn't so much that he had any issue with her drinking in general, he just preferred that to happen when it was later and socially acceptable to do so. Having to drag her back to the castle drunk in the middle of the day would hardly help her image at all and Thayne knew that her image was important to her. Even if she had never expressly told him as much, he had just sort of assumed this was the case. After all, she wouldn't have acted like she was so tough if she didn't feel the desire to have a certain reputation. The Sage that he knew was nothing like that. At least, that was the way he saw her anyways. Perhaps he had a slightly more excusing view of the girl, given how much he cared for her, but that was completely okay with him. Sage was his best friend and he would much rather see the good side of her that he was close with, as opposed to the view that it seemed quite a few of their classmates had taken on.
Biting at his lip again when she took a sip from her mug, Thayne was more than tempted to reach over and just dispose of it. He'd be happy to buy her a butterbeer to replace it, but really he just didn't think that the girl needed to be drinking at a time like that. Debating in his head over it for a few seconds, Thayne eventually gave in to his conscience and reached over to subtly slide the "alcohol" away from Sage. Sniffing at it disgustedly when it was next to him, a confused look crossed his face when he realized that, well, it smelled like butterbeer. As far as he knew, there most definitely wasn't an alcohol that resembled butterbeer that closely. Letting out a soft sigh of frustration, Thayne shook his head with the realization that this was just Sage pushing his buttons once again. "You're going to be the death of me someday, Sage Goyle," he commented, pushing the now approved butterbeer back to her side of the table with an exaggerated sigh. Honestly, he wouldn't have been surprised if that were really the case, but that didn't stop him from hanging out with her and probably never would.
Already feeling slightly better now that he knew Sage wasn't out to get drunk at the moment, Thayne was even more relieved when Sage further agreed to leave the man in the eyepatch alone. Though, her added commentary about his being "hot" did bring a blush to his face. Even if it was just Sage, any sort of flirting or compliments in his direction tended to make the boy terribly nervous. He had absolutely no experience in that realm and when confronted with it, well, he failed miserably. "Err, ah, yeah. Yes, good. That would be uhm, good," he mumbled, stumbling over his words awkwardly as he attempted to calm his nerves a bit. Sage knew full well that comments like that flustered him, no matter who they were from, but of course he didn't expect her to let that go. She was a Slytherin and taking advantage of what opportunities you had was just to be expected.
Quite glad to let the conversation shift back to a different topic, Thayne moved about slightly in an effort to regain his comfort zone again. Fortunately for Thayne, this seemed like something that could easily take the focus of the conversation completely off of him. Whatever had gone down in the commons room most definitely had Sage written all over it and based on her reaction, there was little doubt in his mind that she had to be the culprit. "Blaming the poor first years again, hm? You know, someday someone is going to catch you and you're going to get in trouble. Someday," he retorted, a rather amused smirk on his face. It amazed him that somehow, even though she seemed to be getting into trouble every which way, Sage had managed to get out of any repercussions for the most part. Hell, Thayne was sure that if he even stepped a toe out of line he'd be dragged in for questioning and get detention on the spot. "And ah, Astronomy. It's due tomorrow, if you've forgotten," he added, though he was much more interested in hearing more about what Sage had been up to.

Lips that need no introduction Now who's the greater sin, Sage was purposely bothering Thayne, it was currently one of her favorite games. He was shifting in his seat, uncomfortable, because Sage was drinking “booze”. This would have bothered him less if it was later in the day, but it wasn’t. Sage wasn’t the kind of girl who would get drunk in the morning and drag herself around school trashed. She valued her image to much. She was a complete pansy when she was drunk, the opposite of how she acted when she was sober. She basically acted like herself, and that scared her. She didn’t want people to see the real her, she could get hurt that way. Sage would do anything to prevent herself from being hurt. It’s the one thing Thayne could do, but they were as close as blood without being blood-related. Everyone else had different views of sage, distorted, unreal, illusioned views of her, but Thayne saw the real deal… despite her bad acting around him.
Sage had to admit, Thayne biting his lip with worry was a look she rather enjoyed seeing on his face. Sage looked at him idly, with innocence displayed all over her face, as she took another sip before setting it down. At this point, Thayne slid the cup away from her and sniffed it with a disgusted expression on his face. Sage had to bit her lip to keep herself from bursting out laughing instantaneously. Confusion crossed his face, and Sage couldn’t control herself for much longer, laughter escaped her lips, and as she tried controlling herself, she nearly fell off her stool in a fit of giggles. ”You’re going to be the death of me someday, Sage Goyle.” he said, shaking his head. At least Sage got her drink back! ”Oh no Thayne Crabbed, then you’d be without me… and that would be much to easy for you.”
she said, wiping the tears from her eyes that the laughter had caused. She took a sip of her butterbeer, now that she was under control of herself. She wasn’t going to let him die, even if she did something stupid to prevent it. He wouldn’t Die because of her. She watched relief flood Thayne’s face when she said she wouldn’t go and talk to the shady character in the back corner. He was over worried about her, as per usual, but Sage thought it was cute. He was her brother, her best friend, and everything in between, and if she lost him, she’d be lost. ”Err, ah, yeah. Yes, good. That would be uhm, good,” he said his face flushing red. She also knew how awkward he got when a girl, no matter if it was Sage herself or not, complimented him or flirted with him. ”Good? Is that all you have to say?” she teased ”Honestly, you could have any girl you wanted in this school, you’re smart, attractive, mostly kind, but you don’t have a girlfriend…. It baffles me.” Sage said batting her eyelashes innocently at him. Of course she was going to tease him. She’d probably be the first to threaten his girlfriend though if he ever had one… especially if she ever wound up hurting him. Sage shook her head. She had given herself away again. She could deny and lie to teachers and other students, but to Thayne? Falsities were a lost concept. She all but smacked herself in the head. Instead she hid her shame by taking a drink from her butterbeer. ”Blaming the poor first years again, hm? You know, someday someone is going to catch you and you’re going to get in trouble. Someday,” Thayne said and she gave him a shy smile. Yes, that would be the day. Sage could talk herself out of most situations… but Thayne was right, she was going to get busted. ”I was showing them how to do a spell properly, It’s not my fault if they mess up.” she said with a shrug, her cheeks tinted pink. ”It won’t be someday soon, I’ve had to much practice charming my way out of trouble. Most teachers have looked the other way.” she said with a shrug. Deny, deny til you die, that was what Sage did when everything else failed. If she couldn’t charm her way out if it she’d flat out deny it. Thayne seemed amused by this, but Sage just didn’t want to get a detention. Her mom could be scary, and if she found out… well… she’d be screwed. She was lucky she managed to worm her way out of having her marriage planned out already. She didn’t put it past her mother to plan it without Sage knowing though. ”And as, Astronomy. It’s due tomorrow, if you’ve forgotten,” Thayne added. He didn’t seem much interested in it though, she couldn’t blame him… Astronomy was boring. ”Ah, I did forget actually, I could use some help, and some “private” tutoring sessions.” she said changing tactics from making him worried to making him flustered. She was insinuating something other than just doing homework… she wanted to get a rise from Thayne. Just stay with me now. Say the word and we'll go. I'll be your teacher. I'll show you the ropes.
Of course Sage would find it utterly amusing that he had to check her glass to see what was in it. It wasn't Thayne's fault that he simply cared about her. Sometimes he wondered why he did, but in the end he couldn't bring himself to question their friendship. Ifthey could remain friends for as long as they had and through as much shit as they had been through, there wasn't really much out there that could really come between such a friendship. Though, Sage certainly had a way of testing the boundaries of that friendship. However, Thayne had gotten used to that and generally didn't mind it all that much. Sure, it got a bit straining at times, but Thayne had to admit that he found it at least a little bit amusing sometimes to see what she would come up with next to get under his skin.
Sage was probably entirely right about that. His life would most definitely be too easy without her around. If Sage wasn't there, Thayne really wouldn't have much to worry about. Which, obviously, would be terribly boring and Thayne needed at least some excitement in his life. "Oh, how right you are, Sage. My life would just be nothing without you in it," he drawled, making it sound terribly sarcastic. Though, in all honesty, it was pretty much true. He had other friends and the like, but he didn't feel nearly as connected to them as he did to Sage. Perhaps it was just becuase he had known her for so long and felt comfortable around her, but Thayne liked to think that a lot of it had to do with the fact that they just meshed well together. Even though they were entirely different in most cases, it worked for them.
The whole concept of a girlfriend was something that had made Thayne particularly nervous for, well, pretty much his entire life. He was sure that whoever he eventually decided to date, he'd be a fine enough boyfriend to, but for some reason it just made him nervous. Maybe it was because he simply assumed that most girls were more interested in other, more outgoing guys, but he really didn't know where that fear stemmed from. "I don't...think it's that weird. They just have better options," he shrugged. Thayne had never been that guy. He wasn't the person girl's fawned over and wanted a piece of. He was just Thayne, the quiet boy in the corner. At least he found himself happy where he was, really. He didn't mind not having a girlfriend, though he supposed it would be a nice change for once.
Sages' ability to be so ridiculously charming astounded Thayne. He doubted he could talk his way out of a missed homework assignment, let alone setting the school on fire or something. "You really do have to teach me how you do that. I mean, not that I'd ever cause any trouble, but...just in case something did happen," Thayne nodded. Obviously, it would be a good skill to pick up at some point in his life, even if he rarely had the need to use it. Trouble was not something Thayne was particularly acquainted with and really he doubted that he could get away with it if he did happen upon it someday. "You know, you're lucky I don't turn you in for half the things you've done. You'd never see the outside of the castle again, I reackon," he commented, a smirk on his face. Really, if Thayne wanted to, he could probably get Sage into detentions from now to the end of the decade. Of course, he never would, but the thought was still particularly amusing.
Were Thayne any less aquainted with Sage, he may not have picked up on the fact that she didn't just mean a tutoring session. However, knowing her as he did, a light pink blush rose on his face as quickly as she spoke. "Ah, well. Uh, we could erm. I could help you with the essay any...at any time," he nodded, bumbling through his words like a nervous fool. Thayne was easy to fluster with even the slightest reference to most things sexual. His lack of experience in that department made him easy to shock with flirting or stories or what have you. He liked to think that it all just added to his charm, though. Or something like that. Maybe it just made him all the more lame. That was certainly a title he had heard frequently over the years from many of his classmates.

Lips that need no introduction Now who's the greater sin, Sage couldn’t fathom how she managed to keep her relationship with Thayne for this long without doing something to ruin it all. But she was glad she hadn’t pushed her luck to far. He cared about her, and Sage knew it... he didn’t have to say it for her to know it. She hoped he knew it was the same for her. She cared about him a lot, even if she didn’t say it, or show it, very often. They had a very strange friendship that had been called into question a few times, but it was strong. They were closer than blood could get despite not being related in the slightest. There wasn’t a guy out there that Sage wouldn’t ditch to hang out with Thayne. There wasn’t an event that she would go to alone, as long as she could force Thayne into a tux and throw on a short dress. Teasing, taunting, flirting, fighting, it was all a part of the package, although the two rarely did the last one. They did have their arguments, but that was normal. You couldn’t have a rainbow without the rain, right?
”Oh, how right you are, Sage. My life would be just nothing without you in it,” Thayne said with a very sarcastic drawl. Hey, Sage felt like she was rubbing off on him, but instead of saying so, she just gave him a very hurt look. ”Sarcasm noted, Mr. Crabbe. Now tell me how you really feel.”
she said hitting him with her own Sarcasm. He didn’t have to say what he really felt for Sage to pick up on it. Her hurt look didn’t last long as a smile replaced it on her face. She swore that Thayne was the only one who could possibly bring that kind of reaction from her. Other people could bring different smiles to her lips. Sarcastic smiles, mean smiles, bored smiles... but Thayne was the only one who could bring a genuine smile to her lips. He was the only one she was comfortable enough around to let him see her smile, to see her normal. Everyone saw the pretend Sage, Thayne got stuck with the real deal. She wondered who got the better deal. ”Actually... tell me how you really feel, no sarcasm, no joking.” she said thoughtfully. She wanted to hear him say how he really felt instead of just assuming. ”I don’t.... think it’s that weird. They just have better options,” he said and Sage rolled her eyes. He was pretty much putting himself down. Sure other guys could be more outgoing, but nobody could treat a person better than Thayne could. She just shook her head. ”Those better options don’t usually stick around for breakfast.” she said, some bitterness creeping into her voice. Sage wasn’t against one night stands, but for Merlin’s sake, was it so hard to stick around for pancakes or something? She also didn’t appreciate when she was pushed out the door in the morning, it wasn’t fun. She was a sensitive girl when she could but... Sage was just better at biting her lip and faking it. ”Well, these girls are missing out. Because you make a mean French toast.” she said half seriously half teasing him. Sage often wondered where Thayne got his brains, because she knew her father and he wasn’t the brightest, and the stories about Thayne’s father? They didn’t exactly point to boy genius either. He probably got it from his mother... like where Sage got her blonde hair and blue eyes, and general knowledge. She got her attitude, however, from her daddy, as well as her Quidditch talent. ”You really have to teach me how you do that. I mean, not that I’d ever cause any trouble, but... just in case something did happen.” Thayne said nodding. Sage gave him a questioning look. Him, needing her tricks to get out of trouble? She couldn’t even possibly fathom the reasons behind it. Sage just shook her head and ran her finger around the rim of her glass. ”A lady never reveals her secrets...” sage said letting her voice hang onto the words for a second ”Unless you’re paying her, of course, then she’ll tell all.” she added quickly with a sly grin on her face. ”You know, you’re lucky I don’t turn you in for hald the things you’ve done. You’d never see the outside of the castle again, I reckon,” he commented, smirking. Sage shook her head and laughed at that. [color-darkgreen]”Yes, but you wouldn’t do that, now would you Thayne? Because you know, if I’m going down, I’m going to take you down with me.” she said her voice sounding so matter of fact that it seemed like common sense and something that he could have already known by then. But like how Thayne would never turn her in, Sage would never get him in trouble. It was just how things worked with them. ”Ah, well. Uh, we could erm. I could help you with the essay any.... at any time,” Thayne said bumbling about like nervous fool, His face was flushed pink and Sage couldn’t help but giggle at him. Oh yes, her goal had changed, it was now ‘Let’s make Thayne as uncomfortable as possible’, it may not have been a very good goal... but it was amusing her for the moment. ”Ah, Thayne, you’re so adorable when you’re flustered.” she said giving him a quick peck on the cheek before taking a sip from her butterbeer, mauling the thought over in her head. ”How about tonight? In the abandoned room.... it’s more private don’t you think?” her words last with double meaning and flirtatiousness. He playful smirk came to her lips as she waited for his response.
