The library was a beautiful place and it was a shame that it was underrated by the majority of Hogwarts' students unless they needed a book for an assignment. Long-paned windows stretched across the far wall and above them were small stain glass windows, which the brunette thought added some more elegance to the place. And rows of shelves and tables covered the rest of the area. It was as if a silencing charm had been placed on everyone in the library, a deathly quiet hung in the air, except for a few (somewhat) muffled whispers and the crinkle of turning parchment. And Evelyn, well, she just loved just about everything about it. From the way it looked to the way it smelled (like book glue, parchment, and wood) to the quiet and the way it made her feel at ease. It was like life was set in slow motion here, and the girl felt safe. Safe and at home.
Of course, it would be even better if she weren’t working as the librarian’s assistant. Though, Evelyn couldn’t really complain. Her job wasn’t all that bad. The only thing she needed to do was organize books, which were torture on most days, and check out books. It was fairly easy and she got a paid at the end other the month, but at times the brunette wonders whether the boredom was really worth it all. After all, it wasn’t as if she needed the money. But whenever she thought about quitting, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to. No matter how much or how often she complained about her job, the brunette could never quit. Never. Despite how tedious it was, Evelyn actually enjoyed her job.
At the moment she could be seen seated at one of the many tables with a small pile of books, sorting them alphabetically by the authors’ last names. As soon as she was done with that she picked herself up to wander around the aisles, placing the books where they should be. Finally when that was finished, Evelyn started searching for books to read while she waited for the librarian to come in. There weren't many students here, but it was early morning, which meant most people were probably still asleep or were wandering into the Great Hall to eat their breakfast. The best time to be in the library, Evelyn thought, when it was at its quietest and there were less students around to snoop on what you happened to be reading.
When she found at least six or seven books, the brunette took them stack to her table and set them down carefully with a satisfied grin. Then she pulled her chair out and sat down. Pulling the books closer and took the book from the top of the pile and began reading. She had at least an hour until the librarian came in, that was enough time for her to finish one book at least.
