We just now got the feeling that we’re meeting For the first time Walking around the store to find the ingredients to make smores, Scott wasn’t entirely sure how he felt about tonight. Sure, he was going out with the most beautiful girl in school, but the way they came to tonight wasn’t exactly Scott’s plan. He always thought he’d be the one to ask Aspen out, not be set up on a date. Of course, he had to get passed his nerves, and there was the question of whether Aspen had feelings for him too. Regardless, he was going to get there eventually. Picking up a bag of marshmallows, Scott looked them over before tossing them into the cart. He couldn’t remember if Frankie told him that Aspen like the big ones or the mini ones, so he got both kinds. He obviously wanted this to be a perfect night, and he wasn’t going to let a little detail like that ruin it.
Riding the back of the cart like a little child towards the checkout line, Scott was genuinely pleased with the details for tonight. The only thing Aspen knew was that they were going to the beach. But Scott planned for there to be a raging bonfire, so they could toast the marshmallows, and they could sit by it when it gets cool. And of course Scott set the time to be around nine o’clock so the stars would be out, because he absolutely enjoyed stargazing, and figured it would be more romantic. The only thing standing in his way was the weather, which had been grey all day, and he only hoped it would hold up for the night. Who are the flowers for? Turning his attention to the cashier, Scott watched the old woman gentle wrap the purple carnations to protect them from any harm. Oh, uhh. They’re for a girl. He left it at that, simply because he didn’t feel like giving the lady his entire life story.
Grabbing the bags out of the shopping cart, Scott stepped out of the store, into torrential rain. Shit! He screamed to no one in particular. Quickly apparating to the castle, Scott set down the bags in his room. He searched the bag with the flowers to make sure they weren’t ruined in any way. Satisfied that they weren’t, he turned towards the window, watching the raindrops race down the pane of glass. Sighing a bit and shaking his head, Scott felt the dread settle in at the thought of having to cancel his date with Aspen. He definitely did not think the weather would turn against him, but there was nothing more for him to do then just wait it out, considering he still had a few hours before he was going to the beach to set up the bonfire.
Unsure now what to do, Scott checked over all his bags to ensure he got everything. Knowing Aspen, she wouldn’t be too upset if he forgot a small detail. But he wanted her to have a good time tonight, even if the future for them was questionable. Thinking back to the e-messages he shared with Frankie, Scott was still uncertain about whether Aspen had feelings for him. All he got from the conversation was that he admitted the feelings he might potentially for Aspen, and that Frankie was setting them up on a date. But this could mean that Aspen was feeling bad, and thought he needed to go on a date. Sighing once more, Scott shrugged his shoulders. I just don’t know. Looking back over at the window, Scott decided it would be best to take a nap, so he’d have the most energy to focus on his date for that night. That is, assuming that the weather would clear up.

Hold your heart like you hold your hand. If you doubt yourself 'cause you think you can't. To be honest, Aspen was a bit nervous about going out on a date with Scott. Not so much for the fact that she'd be with Scott, but mostly because she honestly had no idea how to go about dating. She'd seen movies, she'd watched her friends do it, all of that, but she'd never done it herself and she was rather worried that she might fail. The last thing that she wanted to do was ruin her friendship with Scott, since she was rather fond of having him around. Though, she had no idea if that translated to her liking him like that. Really, she'd never really ever thought about him, or any guy, like that. She was happy as she was, pretty much and was happy to sit back and await the arrival of some knight in shining armor. However, she trusted Frankie more than anything and if she thought that it was a good idea than Aspen wouldn't reject the plan. Besides, spending the evening with Scott would be all kinds of fun.
Not wanting to disappoint him, Aspen had spent the majority of her morning seated in front of her closet, pulling clothes out in a haphazard pile and pushing them back in when she decided that they weren't right. To be honest, she had absolutely no idea what to wear over to the beach, but she did know that it would be a bit cold out, so she wanted to plan for that. Honestly, she probably should have dragged someone over to pick for her, but she didn't want to disturb anyone with her own silly problems and so tackled the ever important job of dressing herself all on her own. She doubted that Scott would say anything if she didn't dress right, but she still hated the feeling of inadequacies. Maybe she shouldn't have gone through with this whole crazy plan. Scott deserved way better than her and she shouldn't have done this to him.
With a bit of a sigh, Aspen ended up simply pulling out a random outfit that she thought was cute and warmish, deciding that it would be good enough. Well, at least she hoped it would be. Pulling it on, Aspen then proceeded to work on her hair, using her wand to test different styles before settling on just leaving it down and slightly wavy. That looked decent. Biting her lip, Aspen realized that she had no idea if she was supposed to bring anything other than her swimsuit and a towel, since they'd be at the beach. Fretting about it for a moment, Aspen decided that she should probably just go apparate to the store to grab a few things, just in case. She would have felt rather terrible if she had just shown up empty handed when she wasn't supposed to. Clearly, she needed someone more experienced with these sorts of things to tell her what she was supposed to do.
However, she hadn't come across anyone by the time she reached Hogsmeade and simply apparated to a local store to pick up a few things. For the most part, it was just fun stuff that they could do. Aspen loaded her cart with various things such as a football, a soccer ball, that sort of thing. It wasn't anything major, just something that they could do while over there at the beach. That seemed like an okay decision. Throwing the lot in her beachbag once she had finished checking out, Aspen apparated back to Hogsmeade to wait until later that evening. She knew that she would get far too antsy if she had simply hung around the castle all day waiting, so she headed over to Madam Puddifoot's. She wasn't supposed to be working that day, but working helped calm her down and they weren't going to say no to extra help on a busy Friday afternoon.
As she worked, Aspen nervously eyed the clock, waiting until it was a decent time to apparate over to the beach. As soon as the clock hit eight fifty, Aspen decided that it would be a good time to go. She liked to be timely, if a bit early, and she certainly hoped that Scott didn't mind it. As she reached the beach, Aspen quickly moved to get underneath one of the trees, since the weather was still not cleared up. To be honest, she was a bit worried that maybe Scott had decided to cancel because of the weather. It wasn't ideal beach weather, but that didn't mean they couldn't have a good time. Checking her phone for any messages, Aspen bit her lip once more when she looked around and saw no sign of Scott yet. For all she knew, he might have stood her up. She didn't think that was something he would do, but he wasn't there yet and the weather was pretty bad. However, Aspen wasn't going to just leave and so she down underneath the tree and wrapped her arms around her legs to keep warm.

We just now got the feeling that we’re meeting For the first time Hearing the annoying, distant blare of an alarm clock, Scott’s eyes slowly fluttered open. His nap didn’t exactly calm his nerves, considering how he dreamt of every worst possible situation for the night. Swinging his feet over the side of the bed and pushing himself up, he reached up to rub the sleep out of his eyes, and then looked over at the window by his bed. He frowned, as the weather still hadn’t cleared. Quite disappointed, Scott almost considered sending Aspen a message to cancel their date. But knowing his close friend, something told him that she’d show, and so Scott continued with the plans for the night.
Sighing, Scott forced himself out of the nice warm bed. Looking at the grey skies once again, he saw that plans were not going to carry out the way he planned. But did someone once tell him that the best opportunities came at unexpected times? So maybe the rainy weather happened for a reason, and Scott would become closer to Aspen tonight. A far-fetched theory, but it could work. Crossing the room to where he left the items he bought before his nap, Scott took one last peek to make sure the flowers were still intact. Satisfied that they were as perfect as they were in the store, he glanced over at the alarm clock next to his bed. 8:30. Perfect. Glad that he didn’t sleep through the date, Scott thought it would be best for him to apparate to the beach now. Even though he told Aspen nine, it would take him a while to set up that raging bonfire. Although his original plan was to have the fire right by the water, he knew the weather could change at any moment, and decided to instead make do under a pavilion.
Gathering all the bags from the store, Scott double checked to make sure he had everything. Frowning, he forgot to pick up an activity for them to do, such as a puzzle or something to keep them entertained. Not that he thought they’d needed it, but just to have in case. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t have enough time to apparate to a store, and set up a fire on the beach, so he just threw in a gobstone set and left it as is. Apparating to the beach, Scott landed with a soft thud, and glanced around to ensure Aspen hadn’t arrived yet. Satisfied that she wasn’t, Scott went into pavilion three, and instantly spotted lighter fluid. Breathing out a sigh of relief, it was one of the things Scott had forgotten to pick up from the store, and it would be a pain to start a bonfire without it. Fortunately enough, the fluid was there, and wood was always available at the pavilion.
Busying himself with the task at hand, Scott cracked his first real smile all day. He wasn’t dangerous when it came to fire, but he saw a sort of beauty in it that no one else cared to see. Maybe it was the photography side that he got from his mom coming out. Regardless, he was in his element, and even the rain that was now pounding the roof above him could ruin his mood. Pouring enough lighter fluid to make a nice, controlled explosion, Scott lit a match and threw it onto the teepee pile of wood he made. Lighting up just like the raging fire before him, he added another successful fire to his list.
Glancing down at his watch, he saw that it was five after nine. Worried that the weather might keep Aspen away, Scott busied himself with the task of making the area presentable. Obviously he didn’t want just bags lying on the table, so he took out the marshmallow bags along with the sticks used for roasting, and the chocolate and graham crackers. He saved the flowers for last, to save them from getting ruined. Looking at his watch again, he started to panic when another five minutes passed. It was unlike Aspen to call off their date without sending him a warning, so he was worried something might have happened to her. Pulling out his iPhone, Scott decided it would be best to send her an e-message, informing her of the changed plans in that he was now under pavilion three.
Satisfied with the message, Scott hit the ‘send’ button, and waited. Seeing that there was nothing left to do, he left the comfort of the fire’s warmth and stepped just outside the building, where there was still a bit of overhang to protect him from the rain. Looking up, Scott was quite saddened by the fact that he couldn’t see the stars tonight, and prayed to every God in existence that the weather would clear by the time Aspen showed up. Shivering a bit from the cool wind, Scott stepped back inside, and sat near the fire. Checking his iPhone once more to see if he received a message back from Aspen, he frowned when there were no new messages. Sighing, Scott settled down into the bench, and pulled his jacket a little closer to his body. The only thing for him to do now was enjoy the warmth of the fire, and wait until the girl showed up.

Hold your heart like you hold your hand. If you doubt yourself 'cause you think you can't.
If there was one thing that Aspen absolutely couldn't do, it would definitely be getting mad. Sure, she had kind of expected Scott to be there waiting for her when she arrived, especially considering it was storming pretty terribly, but she didn't have it in her to actually get mad at him. If anything, she was just more upset with herself for not having messaged him to confirm that their date was still on. That probably would have been the best idea, given the state of the weather, but she had been far too frazzled to really think about that sort of thing. Not to mention, she didn't think that Scott was the kind of guy to get deterred by something as silly as the rain. At least, she certainly hoped that he wasn't that sort of guy.
Sitting up under the tree, while somewhat providing some sort of cover, definitely didn't keep the rain from falling onto her and thoroughly soaking her. It didn't take far too long for her entire body to be drenched in a layer of rainwater, causing her to shiver from the cold. Aspen bit at her lip, sincerely hoping that Scott was going to show up soon. As chill as she could be, she couldn't say that she was particularly fond of sitting around getting soaked in the rain. However, she wasn't going to complain about it, since certainly Scott would be there soon enough. No doubt, once Scott got there they could have a warmer place to be and perhaps even some cover from the rain. That is, if he ever decided to show up.
Shifting from where she was sitting, Aspen dug about in her bag to find her phone, hoping that Scott had sent a message to say he would be there soon or something. She probably should have been checking on it a bit more frequently, since when she opened it up to see her messages, she had one telling her that the location of the date had changed. Probably a good idea, considering neither of them really wanted to sit around in the rain for the rest of the evening. Realizing that it wasn't that Scott had just decided not to show up, a smile returned to Aspen's face. She might have been completely waterlogged at the moment, but the knowledge that she would soon be under cover and with Scott definitely cheered her up considerably.
Now that she knew where she was supposed to be going, Aspen gathered up her things and stuffed everything back into the big bag that she had brought with her. Quickly after that, she apparated away with a pop, quickly reappearing just outside of the pavilion where Scott was starting to set things up. Seeing him there, a wave of relief took over Aspen's face and she hopped inside of the pavilion to get out of the rain. The effort that she'd put into her appearance was now completely lost, since she was completely drenched with the rain and looked more like a small puppy that had fallen into a pool or something. However, even with that she looked rather adorable as she walked into the pavilion with a wide grin on her face.
Not wanting to remain out away from the fire for too long, Aspen took a seat not too far from where Scott was sitting. "Hey, ah, sorry I'm late. I didn't get your message for awhile," she said, biting her lip anxiously. Now that she knew it wasn't his fault that they hadn't met up at the right time, she felt a bit terrible about the situation, since she now assumed it was her fault. Shaking slightly, Aspen attempted to get some of the water off of her as she inched closer to the fire. "This is nice, by the way. I like it," she added, looking up at him with a slight gleam to her eye. It definitely looked like Scott had put a good bit of effort into making the place absolutely perfect for the two of them and Aspen definitely appreciated it. Though, at the same time, it made her a tad bit nervous because she now felt like there were a lot of expectations.
