Nobody, nobody wants to feel like this Nobody, nobody wants to live like this

If there was one thing that Ari loved, it was a good party and the gala would inevitably lead to a damn good night out partying, possibly even a big bash at the Puddlemere flat. Though she thoroughly hated the fact that she was going to have to get all dressed up and act all prim and proper, she was happy enough to suffer through such torture if it meant she'd be getting completely wasted afterwards. Besides, she would be getting an award and everyone knew that made her a whole lot sexier, which of course would mean she would be one of the most wanted people there. Though, if you were to ask her, she would absolutely claim that she already was the most wanted person at the gala, which probably wouldn't be all too far from the truth. She was Ari Davies, after all.
Getting ready for the gala, though she was dreading it, would be an all day event. After all, if she was going to go through all that work, she had to do it right and look absolutely stunning. The worst thing about the gala, as far as she was concerned, was the fact that she had to be in some sort of gown, which meant she would be covered up for the most part, which was never good. Obviously, she had damn stunning legs and quite deserved to be able to show them off to the world. However, she was going to play by the rules and wear whatever it was they thought was necessary. She'd picked out her dress and shoes and what not earlier in the week, one of the rare moments where Ari was actually prepared for something in her life. Typically, that would have been left for the day before and she would have messaged someone in a panic until someone did everything for her. Perhaps she was growing up and maturing a bit. Unlikely.
When she had successfully finished showering, getting her hair done and making sure that her dress matched all of her accessories, Ari went ahead and got dressed to leave. She'd stayed at her home that night, as opposed to staying at the castle like she was supposed to as a professor, just because that made it infinitely easier to get ready and apparate to the Ministry without any trouble. Obviously, had she stayed at the castle she would have had people bothering her every few minutes with some ridiculous question or perhaps Gabby running about asking her for help with dresses or makeup or whatever else she could have come up with. This was much quieter, even if the rest of her team was around, but they were likely getting ready as well, so they weren't a bother. That and they probably didn't know she was even there. She hadn't exactly been around all too often and on the rare occasions she did sleep at home, she didn't exactly alert everyone to her presence there.
Not particularly interested in waiting around and talking at her teammates before the gala, Ari apparated from her room, appearing outside of the Ministry a moment later. As she entered into the building, she saw that the event was rather gorgeously set up. Off to one side was the red carpet, which of course was intended for people like herself. The people that mattered and were getting awards, that is. Off to the other side was the regular entrance for just those people that were invited out of necessity. While the majority of people would be families of the people getting awards, there were also the typical, rich bitches that got invited to just about everything. Basically, it was going to be everyone that Ari liked to talk to and she couldn't be more thrilled. She loved events that brought the good people in the world together, even if she did have to get all dressed up.
Before she could even take a few moments to start greeting people she knew, she was whisked off to go get photos taken, do interviews, all the things that she had come to do quite naturally. She didn't mind it much, to be honest, since she generally quite liked being photographed. The interviews, while not her favorite, could be fun if the interviewer was interesting enough. After doing her due diligence and getting all of the celebrity stuff out of the way, Ari waltzed into the large room with a grin. At present, it was set up like a large dance floor, waiting for the arrival of all the guests to just chat and have their fun before the real events began. Spotting a group of fellow Quidditch players, Ari took off to go chat and flirt with the lot, figuring that if any of her mates or family members were coming, they could just find her.

If you just realize what I just realized, Then we'd be perfect for each other
Going to the gala wasn't exactly Megan's first choice of things to do. She was much more accustomed to slutty dresses, lots of alcohol and crazy music. This was bound to be none of the above and admittedly, Megan wasn't all too pleased about it. However, she recognized the value of going to events like this and so she put up with them and put the most charming smile she could muster up on her face. Besides, it wasn't like the evening could turn out too terribly, since she was going to be there with Peyton. At the very least, if she got too fed up with the whole thing, they could always just leave and go do something more entertaining. Which, Megan wouldn't have minded spending the whole night doing, to be honest. However, she knew that Hallie and her thing would be there and they were more or less expected to make an appearance, if anything, just to make sure the entire Cauldwell name wasn't put to shame because of Hallie's choice of dates. Megan was more than happy to help Peyton make up for that deficit, since obviously she made a fantastic and respectable date.
Getting ready for the gala was, of course, quite the ordeal. Megan obviously couldn't look anything less than perfect, since that would be all kinds of unacceptable. Not only did she have to look good for the various people that she would have to impress throughout the night, but she also had to look good for Peyton. As far as she knew, Peyton had no idea what she would be wearing to the gala, which was kind of fun. It wasn't exactly Megan's kind of dress, to be sure, but she was pretty sure that it would look damn good on her and obviously Peyton should be all kinds of in awe of her choice of dress. At least, that's what she was going for anyways. She'd usually just let Peyton pick out her outfits, since she was clearly much more fashionable, but this time was special and she wanted to do it all on her own. Well, mostly on her own. Her house elf had kind of helped decide on the shoes.
As she usually did the days before special events, Megan had been at her own home in France, moving around and getting ready. It had taken the better part of her day, though that was mostly just because she'd slept in to get over the hangover from her adventures the night before. It was a bit weird not getting ready with Peyton there and she quickly was getting irritated with the situation. Being alone in the house didn't bother her that much, but being alone while getting ready definitely didn't sit well with her. She'd always had someone there to help her and to just be silly with while going through all the work to make sure she looked presentable. Honestly, she wasn't sure why she hadn't stayed back at Hogwarts to get ready with Peyton, but for whatever reason she just hadn't.
As night started to fall, Megan's eyes flicked over to the clock on her wall to check the time. Close enough to being time to leave, Megan started to gather up her things. While she wasn't typically the most timely sort of person, she had come to learn early on in life that when it was an event where important people were involved, you showed up early. Or, if not early, you at least showed up on time. At the rate things were going, it appeared that Megan would be showing up a tad bit early, which she was quite pleased by. That would give her time to buzz about the gala room and make the necessary conversations with the people that would matter later in life. Even if she didn't have all too lofty of goals for herself, that didn't mean she was going to pass up the opportunity to possibly make connections that would help her if she did decide to actually bother doing something with her life.
Walking up towards the entrance, she gave a quick nod to one of the men at the front, recognizing him vaguely from somewhere. Probably a bar. He quickly hopped to to help her in, not that she needed it, but she wasn't going to refuse. Leading her around a group of people milling about near the entrance to the gala room, Megan was happily taken straight past them and into the room. Clearly, she was much more important than whoever they were. Taking her leave of, well, as if she would actually remember his name, Megan walked into the room, giving a small pout when she didn't see Peyton, or at the very least one of her other mates. However, she did see someone that she recognized from one of her fathers business deals that she'd been a part of recently and made her way over to make small talk and build relationships and all that good stuff. Though, all the while her eye was trained towards the door, waiting on Peyton to come rescue her.

It's just something that I've done Never meant to cause you worry

To be honest, Jordan was a bit worried about how the whole gala thing was going to go and he had kind of considered just not showing up, since that would ensure that no really awkward situations came up. However, he wasn't that kind of guy. He'd told Lily that he was going to accompany her and he wasn't the type to back out on his word, no matter what the circumstances. Besides, he had no intention of making the whole night awkward in any way, so he was quite determined to just ignore the fact that anything weird had happened between he and Lily and continue on acting as if things were completely normal. If Lily would do the same, he wasn't sure, but he definitely hoped that she didn't make a scene at all. That just wouldn't be cool. He'd been oh so very kind to agree to go, so she at least should have the decency to be chill.
Whatever the situation, Jordan still quite intended to have a damn good time with his night. He'd never really been invited to all the rich, famous people type parties, so it would definitely be a new sort of thing for him, but it was one he was quite excited about. Being all snazzy and dressed up for a night couldn't be all that bad and there would definitely be someone there for him to chat up and have a good time with, he hoped. Of course, he couldn't really flirt with other girls while Lily was around, since Hallie seemed to think that was a bad idea, but he might find some time to himself to go chat with some of the other ladies. If not, he still had his epic pranks planned that would just make the night even that much more awesome. After all, what better way to kick off a gala than with some silly fun?
Jordan didn't really need all that much time to get himself ready, but he definitely needed to take some time to get his pranks ready. He had a bubble machine ready to be used, along with a few various potions that he could stick in it to cause general chaos about the room. Along with that, he had a few other various things that would end up being amusing as hell if everything went well. Knowing that he had to keep everything hidden if he were to be able to sneak it into the gala, Jordan had hidden it in his wallet using an endless bag charm. It was quite perfect to hold all of his things for the night and as soon as he had all of that packed up and ready to go, a rather excited feeling overtook him. Though the boy had his hesitations when it came to spending the evening with Lily after everything that had happened, he definitely couldn't pass up an opportunity for some fun.
Getting himself ready didn't take nearly as long, since Jordan wasn't really fussy about his looks. He thought that the slightly disheveled look did him well anyways. Knowing that the gala was a rather formal event, Jordan had gotten a suit for the occasion. He wasn't used to wearing them, but he was kind of excited about it and certainly felt like he looked at least somewhat decent in the getup. He'd gone with a light, almost silvery looking suit, since it provided a contrast to his exceptionally dark hair. Aside from getting in the suit and a quick shower, Jordan didn't really have much else to do in the whole getting dressed up to go out realm, which was probably a good thing. Much more than that and he would have been way too far out of his element.
With both his things and himself ready to go, Jordan decided that it was about time to head over to Hogsmeade to wait for Lily. They had made the decision to apparate to the Ministry together from Hogsmeade, which he hoped was still the case. Either way, he was sticking to the plan, so he left from the Ravenclaw tower, descending the entirety of Hogwarts to head over towards the exit. It wasn't too far of a walk, fortunately, and it didn't take too long to reach the exit of the castle. From there, he grabbed one of the carriages that ran between Hogwarts and the town, not wanting to get a sweat worked up or to ruin his outfit or anything of the like. Hopping out when the carriage arrived, Jordan stood off to the side to await Lily's arrival so that the two of them could head over to what would hopefully be quite the evening.

[/img] www.hollow-art.com/files/icons/hollowart_epi019.png [/img] Who is that girl I see starting straight back at me. Why does my reflection show someone I don’t know? Admittedly, Santana was looking forward to the evening events, as she found great honor in attending a Ministry of Magic gala. Not that anyone would know this either, but Santana also quite enjoyed the company of her date, Alfie. As much as he might bug the crap out of her sometimes, especially with his rudeness, Santana couldn’t help but to grow fond of the boy. Walking around her room in just a robe, Santana believed now would be the best time to do her hair, as it would effectively kill time without it being too early that her hair style might fall at by the end of the night. She flicked her wrist, while glancing in the mirror, and watched as delicate curls ribboned themselves into her hair. Next, she worked on her makeup. Thankfully Santana was a witch, because she wasn’t entirely all that of an expert when it came to being a girly-girl, and therefore was eternally grateful for the use of magic.
Turning to face her bed, Santana unzipped the garment bag that she picked up a very bored looking Alfie earlier that morning. Holding her breath slightly as she pulled the zipper down and moved the bag away from her dress, Santana could feel her breath catching in her throat and tears prickling her eyes. To say the least, the strapless black dress was gorgeous, and was so simply that it was perfect. Quickly dabbing at her eyes, so the liner didn’t run, Santana didn’t know if Alfie simply choose a dress and moved on, or if he put special thought into how she was going to look for the night. Going with the second option, to convince herself that Alfie was a good guy after all, Santana quickly changed into the dress, adding the right accessories while doing so.
Taking a deep breath before turning back around to face the mirror, Santana tried several times to get her heartbeat under control. However, all attempts were lost when she finally opened her eyes to look. Without trying to be vain, Santana looked pretty damn stylish, all thanks to the help of Alfie, with the black fabric clinging to her curves Regrettably, she’d never be able to pull a look off like this, and thought once again that the boy actually put a considerable amount of thought process into what she wore. After all, he didn’t want to have trash on his arm, or something to that extent. However, Alfie was the one to invite her, and so he must have seen something in the girl.
Glancing over at the clock, Santana saw that she still had a considerable amount of time to get to the Slytherin common room, where Alfie told her to meet him. However, considering this would only be her second time going there, and based upon the amount of time it took her to find it that morning, Santana believed it would be best to travel towards the common room now. While it was true that both common rooms were in the dungeons, and quite near each other at that, Santana could easily get lost in the maze connecting one room to the other. Regardless, she threw on the black pumps that were at the bottom on the garment bag, nicely conforming to the shape of her foot, and set out on her adventure.
When Santana finally arrived at her destination, much quicker than she thought because she didn’t get lost, it was much too early to be bothering Alfie. She doubt he was ready anyway, but she most certainly did not want to go back to her own common room, for fear of getting lost. Seeing a first year crawl out through the portrait, Santana quickly snapped to get his attention. Excuse me. Would you be so kind as to open the door for me? Noticing the fear in the small boy’s eyes, Santana sighed. Just do it. Please. Cheering a small victory inside when he mumbled the password, Santana quickly passed through the opening, into a very green, eye opening room. Deciding that it would probably be best not to touch anything, as she could seriously get in trouble for what she was doing, Santana quietly walked over to one of the leather couches and sat down. Now all she had to do was wait until Alfie came down, and show him her fabulous ensemble.

She, she ain't real,She ain't gonna be able to love you like I will.
Elegance, the main goal for Evette. She had been planning her arrival attire for quite some time now, she wanted to make a impression on everyone for she didn't know them, but she didn't want to out stage anyone. Sadly, she had come to the conclusion of having to wear a dung, but for those with a strong stomach could still allow her to turn heads. Well, she wasn't going to ugly herself up for people who couldn't stand to be out shined, honestly thinking it was quite sad someone had to be the center of everyone's attentive eye, and not being able to give up would make them even more of a sad sight. Never the less, Evette wasn't going let the bad in people ruin a potentially good time, even if she wasn't so thrilled to attend the gala. It was her thing though, special appearances, gala's such as this, once asked to attend the yule ball last year when beauxbatons was once more given the chance to host the triwizard, and some muggle events as well. It wasn't all new to her, so she was able sit through people getting useless awards, meaning nothing but how popularity got them far.
An hour before Evette had gotten a treat from her mother, it was a personal hairdresser who she very well trust to make her look exceptionally beautiful, and with no doubt in her mind she just this. Once more a treat given, she was assisted with a clothing designer, one of the best. A lucky girl, a very honored gal to have such perks, most anything handed onto most delicate hands. Once her makeup was fixed she took a long look into the mirror, astonishingly she looked very mature, like a woman in her mid twenties. So, it seemed like she was dolled up, put together with much care, and even Evette herself was quite enchanted by her own appearance. Before she was to leave, Eve thanked her team of beautifiers for their work on her.
Dateless, she was, and it was quite embarrassing for her to show up without someone escort her. Admittedly, she wanted a date to tell how beautiful she was, to see in their eyes she was a dream come true, but someone she knew and actually liked. Although, she did plan to ask someone, but she thought someone would of done that for her already, she was probably too unapproachable. They sadly missed out, she would have said yes in a blink of eye, even the lowest in social status could have landed her, but she wouldn't immediately say yes not knowing them. Evette was going whether with a date, or not, and surely she wasn't the only one flying solo for evening. Those alone along with her had a fat chance of meeting someone moderately intriguing. Anywho, it wasn't like the gala was for pairing off people, but for measly awards, a measly award that will mean too much for a person with the biggest of a head.
With the finishing touches in place, and Evette's team gone home, she was on her way to the gala. In much time too as she it seemed she wasn't as fashionably late as presumed, and as planned she was turning headg like no tomorrow. She had nearly gave a man at the entrance of the ministry building a heart attack. She merely giggled walked past him into event hall. Walking in it seemed like a wonderful thought of gold, mirrors, and too bright to able to see. Expectations and reality came to terms, and her expectations weren't exactly met, but she was quite impressed with decor. Utter perfection was quite overrated anyway. So, she dealt with the given accessories, and delightful white wine they handed to even a minor. Well seeing that her mature features blinded her young age to the catering staff.
Further into the room she didn't recognize anyone she knew, so she stood awkwardly in the middle of room. Hoping to be unseen, but everyone had to look at everyone, mostly to judge on their outfit picked for the occasion. Looking around she couldn't tell if her dress, hair, and makeup was do or don't. It wasn't like a competition between everyone was placed, but if she was in the running surely she would at least place third, she was very confident in her fashion designer friends choice. Clothing aside, Evette was well impressed with everything else. She just hoped it would get better from here, someone with a personality of their own to talk to. words:766 notes:bit of shit reply, sorry you guys. outfit: click and click( don't steal the first photo, the psd i used wasn't made by me).[/blockquote]

I don't know what's left to say About this life I'm willing to leave
The whole idea of the gala was sickening to AJ. She had things to do with her life and attending galas with numerous people that she most likely didn't like wasn't on her list of things to do. Unfortunately for her, she really hadn't been given much of a choice in the matter. Just because one of her idiot half brothers was getting an award, she was apparently required to make an appearance and act like she actually gave a rats ass about him and his music career. While she was able to pretend to be a lot of things, happy for her family was not one of those things. If there was one thing that AJ hated more than anything else, it was her family, and that was saying a lot. AJ was a very hateful sort of person, but her family was easily at the top of that list.
Considering the fact that no one had even given her the option of not attending, AJ was quite determined that she wasn't going to play nice. Not at all. If there was any opportunity for her to make the night miserable for everyone around her, than she was damn well going to take it. After all, it just wouldn't be right if her half-brother was actually allowed to be as happy as can be on his special night. Besides, Hallie would be there and it wasn't like it took all that much effort to ruin that girls night. She was just too easy to upset for AJ, though it certainly proved to be more entertaining each time it happened. One would think that the novelty of it would have worn off, but it hadn't. At all. If Hallie didn't make it so easy, perhaps it would have grown boring, but she reacted to it every single time. It was her own fault AJ was such a bitch to her, really. At least, that's how AJ liked to think of it.
Though she was sure that she probably should have put some sort of effort into the whole "getting ready" ordeal, she didn't exactly care enough to spend hours of her time getting ready for an event that she didn't even want to attend. They would just have to deal with her throwing on a dress and magicking her hair and makeup to at least a suitable appearance. She'd heard people talking about how they had gone and gotten all new outfits for the occasion and all other kinds of ridiculous things. Not AJ, though. Perhaps if it was something actually worth her time, but as far as she knew none of the people that she'd really care to talk to in terms of making connections or whatever would be there. An unfortunate circumstance, to be sure, but at least AJ knew some of the people there that weren't as terrible as they could have been.
The extent of AJ's "getting ready" was to get dressed a few minutes before they were set to leave and making her way down to Hogsmeade. Honestly, it was a bit ridiculous in her opinion. Having to walk all the way over to Hogsmeade just to apparate there was always something she'd found incredibly irritating. Whatever reasons they had for keeping blocks up on apparating in Hogwarts grounds were probably stupid and AJ really couldn't stand it. Not to mention, walking anywhere in heels was absolutely infuriating. Hell, if she didn't have the decency to at least keep to some standard of dress, she probably would have just worn flats. However, she didn't want to look stupid by not at least dressing in something she would fit in with. At least the walk to Hogsmeade didn't take too long and she was more than glad to quickly apparate from the town and over to the Ministry.
Rearranging her hair and dress after apparating, AJ walked into the event. Technically, she was probably expected to go be with her brother and applaud his efforts in front of the press or something, but that wasn't about to happen. He had enough other family to do that for him and she at least had bothered to show up. That in itself should count for more than enough effort on her part. Instead, AJ slipped into the gala room to find someone interesting to talk to. Technically, none of the people in the room appealed to her in any sense of the word and she was quite disgruntled by the utter lack of worthwhile people in the room. She was rather tempted to go get her picture taken once or twice as proof that she'd been there and then just slip out the back to go back to her dormitory and avoid all the fuss of the gala.
However, she did recognize one of the girls as being one of her roommates. You'd have expected for AJ to know her roommates at least somewhat, perhaps, but she didn't care enough to find out anything more than their names. The new girl was just that to her, the new girl and completely inconsequential. Though, perhaps it would be a good time to at least say hello. It wasn't like the night could get any worse than it already was. "Well, hello Evette," AJ greeted as she walked up towards the girl. Clearly, Evette didn't know anyone in the room, for which AJ would deem her incredibly lucky. "I didn't know you were coming to this...thing." AJ's voice was friendly enough, but clearly revealed the fact that she was utterly bored and would rather be just about anywhere else. Just about.

It just wasn’t worth it Nothing could ever be so wrong To be perfectly honest, Hallie was less than thrilled about attending the gala later that evening. She would rather skip the event all together, but considering it was being thrown by the Ministry, she didn’t exactly have choice. Getting the feeling that tonight was not going to be a good one, especially with all the tension surrounding her and Braden, Hallie tried to sleep most of the day. She hadn’t been getting much sleep for the last week, continuously tossing and turning or simply laying there until it was time to get up for another day. So to say the least, Hallie was a bit tired, therefore not having the energy to deal with her snobby sisters or the boy she hasn’t spoken to in a week. In fact, Hallie wasn’t even sure anymore if they were still going together, since she never confirmed it with him. And even though he agreed to it when she asked after first receiving the invitation, Hallie wasn’t sure of their relationship status, let alone whether or not he was going to escort her to the stupid gala.
Hopping out of bed, Hallie walked over to where she had carelessly thrown her dress over a chair. It was safe to say that Hallie could care less about how she looked, especially when she felt so crappy, and definitely didn’t want to be there. Although she made sure she was properly dressed in the formal attire, Hallie didn’t put nearly as much effort as she typically would. She just wasn’t feeling it, and it wasn’t like she wasn’t like she needed to impress her date. They already engaged in sex. Quickly changing into her dress and doing her hair and makeup, Hallie wished to get the night started already. Unfortunately for her, it wasn’t like starting any earlier would end the night any faster.
Glancing over at the mirror, Hallie simply shrugged, not particularly caring how she looked at the moment. She probably should have cared somewhat, considering Braden helped pick it out for her. Perhaps Hallie should lighten her mood just a little, even if it was just for show. However, since she woke up on Sunday morning, lying in bed with Braden, Hallie had fallen into a bit of a depression. To say she felt dirty was an understatement. Walking out of her room and down the Ravenclaw tower, Hallie debated whether or not to continue on towards the dungeons once she reached the ground floor. However, upon reaching her destination, Hallie decided it would be best for Braden to meet her there, if he was coming at all.
Opening the door to the grounds, Hallie felt the cool breeze dance across her shoulders almost immediately. Forgetting a jacket, and not having enough time to go fetch one, she simply carried on with her walking. Unsure how she was going to get there without apparating, as she was technically under aged to do so, she glanced over just in time to see some fellow students preparing to apparate. Knowing one of the girls from her potions class, Hallie asked if they minded that she joined in, and when they said not at all, she quickly stepped into the group of people. Feeling the sense of not being in control of her own body, she landed with a soft thud a few moments later, in one of the most beautifully decorated halls she’s ever seen.
Stepping inside the warm room to get away from the cold, Hallie glanced around to see formal china sets placed on the tables, beautiful center pieces, and floating orbs of light washing the place in a soft, white glow. Simply breathtaking, and yet Hallie couldn’t be bothered with the details. It was too much for her, as the soft music and lights reminded her of the own music she played and candles that decorated the hotel room. Seeing if anyone she knew had arrived yet, Hallie caught glimpse of Megan mingling on the other side of the room. Although Hallie knew that the other girl would probably be one of the causes that added to the now irritating headaches pounding behind her eyes, something that only happened when she was terribly stressed, it wouldn’t hurt to talk to someone she knew. Strolling up to the other girl, Hallie was quite impressed with Megan’s outfit. For once, the dress didn’t scream slut, and Megan looked quite elegant tonight. Hey Megs. Beautiful place isn’t it? Hallie couldn’t help but to add a little sigh in her words, pretty certain though that Megan wouldn’t pick up on it.

As they take me to my local down the street I'm smiling but I'm dying trying not to drag my feet
The gala was going to be one of the biggest nights of Felicity's career up to that point. She'd had a lot of success in the past few years and this year she was finally going to be officially recognized for it. Sure, she'd won awards in various magazines and little things like that, but this was perhaps the biggest night for any celebrity type figure in the wizarding world and for Felicity especially. She was not only winning the award for Captain of the year, but also the Role Model of the year award, recognizing all of the extra effort that she put into things. She knew a lot of her fellow Quidditch players did nothing but party and have a good time with the money they earned over the years, but she'd never been that person. Felicity had always been the type to give back where she needed to and not just because it made her look good. She genuinely enjoyed being able to do something good for the world and she wouldn't give it up for anything.
So, all in all, it was an extremely exciting night for her, not to mention quite the honor. However, despite all of her excitement about the event and the accolades that she would be receiving, it was fairly obvious that there was something putting a damper on what should be an incredibly joyous mood. The one person that she'd thought she could count on to be there for her that night, her fiancee, wasn't coming. She'd gotten used to his ditching her on important days, but this almost seemed like too much for her. Although she was completely crushed by it, she had been doing everything possible to make it seem otherwise. She'd put on a mask of complete nonchalance and had been happy, well, not exactly happy, to invite Marcus to come to the event with her as well. At least he had agreed to come, even if her own fiancee didn't. She wasn't even sure if her own sister would be there to support her. At least they'd all been extended invitations and that was the best Felicity could do on her part.
In spite of her apparent lack of familial support, Felicity was determined to look her absolute best on her big night. Fiancee or not, she was going to be the most stunning woman there that night, dammit. Technically, she could have gotten all dolled up on her own, but she had a team of people specifically for large events. It was definitely one of the many perks of being rich and famous. While she didn't often use her styling team, tonight was obviously a special occasion and seemed like the perfect time to get pampered for the day. Besides, if she was going to make her fiancee feel bad about not showing up, than clearly she had to look absolutely perfect. Not, of course, that such a goal was on her mind at all, since of course she didn't care at all whether or not he showed up.
When the stylists had finished with her and Felicity looked in the mirror to see the end product, even Felicity's breath was caught for a moment. She'd never been a particularly vain person, exactly, especially not as of late, but she couldn't deny that she looked gorgeous that night. They had done her hair just perfectly, putting it up and then curling it so that it fell at her back in a perfect wave of gleaming, soft hair. It was elegant, but still youthful enough that she didn't appear at all old. Her makeup, as well, she thought was just right. They had evened the tone in her face out, giving it the perfect tone for the night, and put the perfect shade of eyeshadow to bring out the colours in her eyes. All in all, she looked absolutely perfect and then there was the dress. It accentuated her features perfectly and had a shine to it that brought attention to her. She wasn't looking to steal everyone's attention, but it would definitely serve the purpose of catching her fiancees attention when the photos showed up in the paper. Not that she cared.
As soon as she was properly dressed with the perfect accessories to match her outfit, Felicity deemed it time to head over to the gala. She liked to be early enough to pass most of the crowds, allowing her ample time to talk with the press and get a good few interviews in before the people she knew personally started to show up. Apparating from her flat, Felicity appeared a moment later at the Ministry, giving proper greetings where necessary and short waves to people looking to talk to her. The moment that she had arrived, she'd been ushered off to the side to get photos, do interviews and generally get all of the celebrity business out of the way. It could be a pain at times, but Felicity wouldn't say that she minded it much. In fact, she rather enjoyed it sometimes. After all, being in the spotlight was never a bad thing.
Being as gracious as one could be, Fel was able to get through the majority of the interviewers within a short thirty minutes or so and move into the gala room. She spotted a few people that she knew, but before she could really get anywhere, she was once again approached by a group of what she assumed were fans. Though she'd gotten through the interviews, this was an entirely separate section of any event. She didn't particularly mind them, of course, but she'd much rather have been chatting with some of her fellow nominees or perhaps someone from her team. Unfortunately, she would have to wait for someone to come and rescue her from the group of people surrounding her. Until then, she was happy to make small talk, put a smile on her face, grin and bear it.

Give me everything tonight For all we know we might not get tomorrow As Lily checked out her items at the cashier of Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes, taking one of everything in the store, Lily began to look forward to the night’s party. Nothing more than a typical outing for Lily, the girl almost considered not going. Even if the Ministry insisted that all invitees went, it’s not like she could get into serious trouble for not showing. She was Harry Potter’s daughter after all, thus allowing her to practically get away with murder. However, Lily was finally convinced that it might actually be fun, and it was only made better when Jordan agreed to be her escort for the night. However, after attending many events just like this one, Lily was quite sick of them, and decided to join Jordan with making a little trouble at the gala.
Quickly walking back to the castle, running a tad late because the newbie at the cashier didn’t believe that she could get everything for free, being that she was related to the owner of the shop. Lily actually had to call her uncle on the phone, clarifying the situation, but not before she became so frustrated she almost gave up on getting the things. However, she didn’t want to let Jordan down, after promising that she would get the toys for their awesome night of troublemaking. How much of that was Lily’s attempt to impress the boy, she wasn’t entirely sure herself. Although she did possibly tell that Jordan that she was the perfect girlfriend for him, she was kidding at the time. And while she potentially developed feelings for him since then, Lily definitely didn’t want the night to be awkward in any way for Jordan. Especially since James was going to be at the gala as well, and he didn’t exactly approve of Lily’s ‘schoolgirl crush’ on Jordan. So it would be best for the girl to cool it for the night, and in that way, hopefully Jordan would see that she was a pretty chill girl.
Showering quickly, Lily stepped out into the bathroom, which looked like a tornado had come across and destroyed it. There were beauty products all over the place, a clear sign that something was up. Laughing, Lils made her way over to the mirror, still unsure of what look she was going for. Deciding on the more natural look, Lily simply flicked her wrist, and watched as her face was made up and her hair was done. The joys of being witch meant not having to deal with the time consuming task of manually doing her hair and makeup, especially considering the fact that she was running late.
Not wanting to keep Jordan late, Lily quickly dried herself with a towel, and shimmied into her very formfitting dress. Half turning in the mirror, Lils inspect herself from the front and back, while smiling at her reflection. She looked damn hot, and her very exposed legs were quite gorgeous. Perhaps a bit white, but she didn’t have time to fix that issue without it looking unnatural. If Jordan didn’t think she was a least cute, there was something seriously wrong with the boy. Poking her ears with hanging diamond earrings, a present from her parents, while stuffing her feet into silver pumps, Lily was ready for either one of the more boring nights of her life, or a night filled with pleasurable surprises, including crazy make out sessions with Jordan in the coat closet.
Running down the stairs, Lily reached the front door within no time. With each step she took towards Hogsmeade, Lily was actually quite excited for the night. Although she’s been to a countless number of formal events like this for her parents, never has there been other kids her age, nor has she ever had the opportunity to invite someone. Especially when that person she invited planned to spice things up for the Ministry. She found herself laughing at the mental image of the Minister trying to punish them for the pranks they were going to pull, and Lily simply rolling her eyes. To say the least, it was physically impossible for Lily to get into trouble, and that bugged higher up adults. To them, she was practically untouchable, and had the ability to cause ruckus without consequences. A little fact that brought great joy to Lily from time to time.
Speed walking towards Hogsmeade to meet Jordan on time, Lily stepped on to the main street. Spotting Jordan leaning up against a light, obviously waiting for her, Lily adjusted her dress and quickly walked over. She was suddenly very aware of her dress, because with every step she took, it kept riding up and getting shorter. And while she typically wouldn’t mind, she also didn’t want to look desperate to Jordan. Not to mention the fact that this was still a formal event, and she did have to be presentable, since there was always people criticizing her every move. The pleasures of having Potter as your last name. Turning her attention back to Jordan, unable to do anything about the dress now, Lily smiled. Giving him a quick hug, she stepped back to admire his suit, coincidentally matching perfectly with her silvery dress. Hey. You look nice. Good choice. She nodded towards the suit, as that was perfect attire for the night. For a split second, Lily almost felt guilty that it wasn’t Tyson standing in front of her. But he told her to have a good time, and so she’d only have to give him a play-by-play on what happened later, when she got home. Alright, well I’m ready to go if you are. Do you have everything? She was obviously talking about the items they were bringing to cause some trouble tonight.

If you just realize what I just realized, Then we'd be perfect for each other
Although Megan had only been there for a short period of time, it seemed like the endless drone of people talking was starting to lull her into a serious boredom that she really wasn't too pleased about. As glad as she was for the chance to get some of the more business-like aspects of the night out of the way, she really was quite looking forward to the point where someone came in to drag her away from them. Obviously, it just wasn't fun talking to old men about business deals that she was helping her father with. Necessary, sure, but not at all fun. At the very least, Megan was good at what she had taken to doing. She could be damn convincing when it came down to it and her father had been letting her do more and more for the family company, often sending her out to wine, dine and close a number of deals. She wasn't the most business minded, but she knew how to get people to do what she wanted them to do, or in this case, what her father wanted her to do.
Finishing off with another conversation, which went rather well in her opinion, Megan turned to go get away from the group of old men before another off them decided that they needed to discuss business. While she was more than willing to do so on most occasions, tonight wasn't about that for her. At the moment, she had much more important things on her mind than business deals and whatever else they wanted to jabber on about. Though she worked for her father, she sure as hell didn't have a relationship with him. No, she did not know how he was doing. No, she did not know when he would be back from Germany. No, she did not know what her mother was up to. And no, she most definitely did not know where her siblings were. But, she had to lie and say she did. She had to lie and make them believe that her family was still in tact and completely functional. It kept people doing business with them and kept her from having to explain things such as why her mother had been missing for years. Not exactly her favorite subject for conversation.
Getting caught by another of her fathers associates, Megan put on a charming smile, making the necessary compliments and conversations. Luckily for Megan, before the man could really get into the meat of the conversation, Hallie's voice came out from behind her, clearly addressing her, which of course meant that she was more than able to take her leave of the man. Honestly, she wasn't sure that she'd ever been so relieved to hear Hallie's voice. In fact, now that she thought about it, it seemed like it was the first time in quite awhile that she'd heard anything from the girl, which was very strange. Usually, she spoke to Hallie every day, but recently she hadn't seen much of her. Megan had just been so busy with getting things ready for the gala that she'd hardly had time to notice the difference.
Turning back towards the man in front of her for a moment, she gave him a rather apologetic look. "I hate to do this to you Charles, but I really must be getting on. We'll talk sometime soon about everything though, yes?" she said, a rather diplomatic tone to her voice. A quick hug and a handshake later and Megan had her hand gripping Hallie's wrist and dragging her off towards the side of the room. While Megan wouldn't actually admit to such a thing, she was a bit nervous about the night and to be honest, she didn't know why. It was just Peyton, after all, so it wasn't like she really had to care. There was no good reason for her to be the least bit worried about anything, since it wasn't like she really needed to try to impress Peyton or anything. It was just Peyton.
When Megan was satisfied that they were far enough away from the crowds that she wouldn't get dragged away again, she loosened her vice grip on Hallie's wrist, settling for simply holding it lightly. "Where the hell have you been? I've been getting ready all week and I don't think I got the right dress and I don't look perfect and Peyton is going to hate it and you suck for that," Megan spat out, rambling slightly and obviously not entirely at ease with herself. It was a rare occasion that Megan Aldridge didn't feel completely at ease, but tonight was one of them and she couldn't damn well tell you why. She didn't know herself. "You okay, though? You seem a little off," Megan asked, a concerned look darting onto her face for a moment and not just for herself this time.

It's just something that I've done Never meant to cause you worry
Waiting had never been one of Jordan's strong suits and within a few minutes he was anxiously pacing about. For all he knew, Lily had canceled on him and wasn't even going to show up. He doubted that she'd be that extreme about it, but there was no telling with girls sometimes. They were kind of all a bit crazy and it wouldn't be too far out of the question to assume that she'd just not show up and "forget" to mention it to him. However, he retained the hope that Lily was at least somewhat sane and would be showing up momentarily, laden with all kinds of awesome things to add to their basket of fun. Even if she didn't, Jordan had a spot at the gala and he quite intended to show up to cause trouble. After all, there were people counting on him to make the whole event interesting. Or, well, maybe they didn't know they were counting on him, but obviously they were.
Kicking at the ground in front of him, Jordan's attention perked up when he heard the clack of heels on the ground. A bright grin crossed his face when he saw Lily coming towards him and he moved forwards a bit so that he could stand up straighter to welcome her. "Hey, Lilys. You look great too," he said in greeting as he gave her a big hug. He was definitely a bit relieved that she approved of the outfit. He wasn't exactly the most knowledgeable about what attire to wear to events like this one, but Lily had been to so many that she was a good person to ask about such things. Her approval meant that he didn't do far too badly with his choice, so that was good. Obviously he had to look his most dashing if he was going to be at such a big event with all kinds of important people. Not to mention, he was accompanying a Potter and that obviously meant he had to look particularly perfect.
Lily was all ready to go and Jordan was more than excited to get on the way to the gala. He had no idea what to expect of it, but he was pretty damn ready to see what would be in store for him that evening. Hopefully there was at least some fun to go along with all the boring parts of being there. At least they had plans to make their own fun. Giving her a nod, Jordan pulled his wallet out from his pants pocket to show Lily the ingenuity that was the endless bag. "Check this out, this is like the coolest thing. I've got everything we could possibly need stored up in just the pocket of my wallet. They'll never know where it came from," Jordan said with a rather proud tone to his voice. Obviously, this whole plan had been a rather awesome one and even for Jordan it was pretty talented. The way he saw it, he was just putting his intelligence to good use. After all, what better way to show he was a Ravenclaw than to devise such brilliant schemes to cause trouble throughout the Ministry.
Flashing his wallet off for a few more seconds, Jordan slipped it back into his pocket with a grin. "Well than, I do believe it's time we took off. We have a gala awaiting us, no?" he commented with a nod. Taking hold of Lily's arm for a moment, Jordan apparated them both to the door of the Ministry. Still quite new to the whole apparating thing, Jordan tumbled out of it, reaching over to make sure Lily didn't fall or anything. That probably wasn't the sort of entrance that either of them wanted to make, for sure. When they arrived, it was pretty obvious that there were quite a lot of people there for the event, all of them looking really dressed up and particularly dressy for the occasion. It definitely wasn't something that Jordan was used to seeing at all. Feeling a bit out of his element, Jordan hung back a bit, waiting to see what Lily thought they should do first. "Well, I guess this is it, huh?" he commented, his eyes darting back and forth to take in the whole setting of the place.

It just wasn’t worth it Nothing could ever be so wrong Walking up to Megan, in an oblivious state, Hallie obviously didn’t realize that she was in a conversation about some sort of business with an older gentleman. Throwing him an apologetic look that wasn’t all too entirely sincere, as she apparently rudely interrupted something, she allowed herself to be dragged to the side of the room. Shrugging Megan off a bit, it was weird for Hallie to be talking to the girl. While she typically messaged or spoke to Megan several times a day, Hallie hadn’t kept in contact since the week before, more specifically, since before she and Braden hooked up. To be honest, Hallie was getting quite used to the silence, something completely new and totally opposition from who she was as a person. It felt kind of nice though, living in her own world without having to answer to anyone. Not that it brought her any closer to figuring out what she was going to do about Braden, but it was nice.
Turning towards Megan, she shrugged her shoulders in response to the girl’s question. Yeah, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. The frown on her face definitely said otherwise. Inspecting the dress, Hallie twirled her finger, indicating Megan to turn around. I don’t know what you’re worrying about. Number one, you look stunning as usual. And number two, it’s just Peyton. But Hallie knew as much as Megan did, well maybe the girl wouldn’t admit it to herself, that the legitimate Cauldwell sister and the adoptive Cauldwell sister definitely had feelings for each other. Even if the two of them didn’t want to see it. So be honest. How long do I have to stay for this thing? Typically she would love an excuse to dress up, especially when she and Bray were together. But lately, Hallie had developed a very exclusive relationship with her bed and bedroom, and that was exactly where she wanted to be.
Deciding that she couldn’t deal with the pounding in her skull, or the fact that she was actually here, Hallie needed a quick relief to her problems. Seeing one of the waitresses walk by with a tray full of champagne glasses, Hallie quickly grabbed two of them, slamming one back almost immediately. The other she took her time on, but even that was gone within a few seconds. She looked over at Megan. What? I needed a drink. Realizing almost immediately that she forgot about Megan, Hal felt awful. Grabbing two more drinks, she handed on off to the other girl. Cheers. She had every intention of drinking this one slowly and savoring the taste, but even that one managed to slide down her throat in a few moments. Something told her to cool it, as what she was doing was no different than when Megan has gone on her two month drinking binge.
Glancing over at the other girl, Hallie could honestly say that she felt a little better. She wasn’t tipsy yet, but the bubbling alcohol did ease the pounding in her head slightly. Never really attending a formal event to this degree, Hallie was unsure of what to do. She felt out of element, which was a bad thing, considering Braden would feel even worse. But to say the least, Hallie could honestly care less about him, and she wouldn’t mind if he just didn’t show. In fact, she felt a pang of jealousy as Megan talked about Peyton, because she wasn’t experiencing the same feelings at the moment. Taking one last bubbling drink from a passing tray, Hallie promised that she would sip at this one. Inspecting the glass slightly, as the bubbles somehow fascinated her, Hallie glanced over at Megan. Well, I guess we should get this party started. Lead the way, dear. She raised her glass, as a silent toast to start the night off right.

Give me everything tonight For all we know we might not get tomorrow After a few moments of silence, in which Jordan was messing around with his coat, a questioning look passed across Lily’s face. However, she received her answer as he pulled out his wallet, bewitched to hold everything quietly inside. Lil’s face brightened, at the sight of all the toys they were going to use for the night. Sweet. Her own basket of items were closely following her, as she didn’t want to carry them, in case they decided to explode. Calling the basket over, Lily showed to the boy exactly one of every object in the store, including some there weren’t even available to the general public yet. Yeah, she was just that special. Tossing the objects back, making sure she kept a hand on it, Lily allowed Jordan to take her arm, so they could apparate to the event.
From the moment her feet left the ground, Lily could tell that Jordan was still new at this, a funny thought to her as she believed everyone broke the rules and apparated before their eighteenth birthday, but managed to gracefully step out of it. Although it was nice to know that he showed concern for her safety, as Jordan did but an arm out to stop her from getting injured. Brushing herself off slightly, Lily stopped Jordan for a minute before they stepped inside. Quick, give me your wallet so I can put my stuff in it too. Obviously it was the best decision, because there was plenty of room, and she couldn’t exactly carry in an entire basket full of Weasley toys. Satisfied that everything was good to go, Lily took Jordan by the hand and head straight towards the red carpet, meant for only the award recipients and famous people. Based upon the mob of photographers and general activity over there, Lils could only guess that her parents were there.
With Jordan in tow, Lily causally strolled down the red carpet, milking the pictures for all they were worth. Obviously with the last name Potter, Lily was just as famous as her parents. All was well, until she heard the annoying voice of Rita Skeeter, the same journalist who annoyed her father when he was younger. Ms. Potter, yoo hoo! Over here. I have a few questions for you. Lily sighed, pulling Jordan along in an attempt to pretend like she didn’t hear that high pitched voice. But of course that witch was only more persistent, knowing perfectly well that Lily would eventually give in to her. Glancing over at Jordan, Lily sighed once more and gave him an apologetic look. Come on. Let’s go.
Casually walking over towards the edge of the red carpet, Lily put on her brightest smile, as she was still under the scrutiny of the other journalist representatives. Hello Ms. Skeeter. How are you today? It took every ounce in her body not to role her eyes, especially at the woman’s sweet, fake voice. Good. Now enough with the small talk, let’s get down to the juicy stuff. Lily watched as the woman motioned for her floating pen and pad to jot down everything she said, even though both knew that she was only going to skew Lily’s words. How successful do you think your father’s attempts in keeping the peace between both sides are? Giving the evilest glare Lily could muster, she clenched her jaw tightly. Most people thought the chosen one had been failing epically within the last few years, as another war broke out. But Lily knew that her father was doing everything in his power to stop this madness. Look, Rita. You and I both know that answer by heart. So shove off. She couldn’t help but to add a touch of coldness to her voice, as she was tired of that question. And Rita Skeeter, but that was a different story.
Pulling Jordan along, as she never dropped his hand, Lily couldn’t help but to feel sorry for the guy. It was his first formal event, and already she was making it a nightmare. Sorry you had to go through that. She’s been a pain in the arse since my father was young. In a weird, extremely twisted way, she’s kind of part of the family. She shrugged her shoulders, feeling awful that she put Jordan up to this. Had she been thinking, and not necessarily been focusing on taking the hottest boy in school to the gala, the thoughtful side of Lily would probably realize that taking anybody would be a bad idea. Finally reaching the cluster of photographers, Lily squeezed through the crowds. Mom! Dad! She raced up to them, embracing both of them, as she hadn’t seen her parents in quite a few months. If they weren’t doing an interview, they were travelling to various countries, and Lily rarely got to see them aside from holiday break. She motioned for Jordan to follow, so she could make formal introductions. Mom, dad, this is Jordan. Jordan, this is Ginny and Harry…but I’m sure you knew that. Smiling, Lily threw her mother a glance, while subtly pointing towards Jordan. This was the guy I was telling you about. She gave her mother the so please don’t embarrass me look.
After the formal introductions and small talk, Lily was done with the conversation, even though she hardly got to see them anymore. However, she didn’t want to keep the Potter couple from any important interviews, and it was time for her and Jordan to find people their own age. Which translated to, Lily wanted to get off the red carpet as soon as possible, to avoid the risk of seeing Rita again. Linking arms with her escort, Lily walked towards the main ballroom, where the tables were set up. Feeling the tension in her neck, a sensation that came only after talking to that witch, Lily needed something to help release her thoughts and focus on the night. She turned to address Jordan. Hey, I’m going over to the bar. Do you want anything? Although Lily should have considered drinking at a Ministry event to be a bad thing, especially while her parents were in the same place, she needed to get the party started. Besides, it’s not like she was going to do anything majorly worse during the night.

love is like a sin my love for the ones that feel it the most There wasn't anything that gave Peyton greater pleasure, besides sex of course, than having herself pampered by highly paid and highly qualified professionals, for an entire day. Massages, Facials, Manicures, Pedicures, the Slytherin queen had gone for it all, all in preparation for the upcoming Gala Event being held by the ministry that very night. Of course Massages, Facials, Manicures and pedicures were something she had on a regular basis anyway. But today was different because she'd gone the extra mile and had her hair cut and blow-dried at a top hair salon in London. After spending the day shopping for the perfect shoes, unusual for Peyton as she rarely ever left something like buying shoes so late, the brunette had headed off to the spa for her treatments. It wasn't until four p.m that Peyton had returned to the castle to get ready for the Gala.
As Peyton went about adding the finishing touches to her outfit, such as jewelry and perfume, she couldn't help but wonder what Megan would be wearing for the night and why the other girl had chosen to get ready at her home in Paris. Peyton thrived off of events like Gala's and was quite exited for tonight, so she'd been more than a little disappointed when Megan had insisted on meeting her there at the event instead of getting ready and arriving together. Now Peyton had no one to share her excitement with, besides her low-level, moronic room mates. Adding her lipstick to her lips, Peyton smacked them together a couple of times before standing and sauntering over to the full length mirror across the room. A satisfied smile graced her lips as she took in her reflection. Landon really did make wonderful dresses. Idly, Peyton hoped that Megan had chosen an appropriate dress for the Gala, the brunette knew all too well the sorts of clothes the other girl like to wear. Slut wouldn't cut it tonight and Peyton was positive she'd have to murder Megan if she turned up in anything other than beautiful and elegant.
Turning from the mirror, Peyton grabbed her clutch bag and decided that she'd head on over to the event now. Sure it was a little early but it was better to arrive early than show up late. Heading outside the school gates, Peyton apparated to the Ministry of Magic, where the Gala was being held and immediately breezed through the entrance ignoring the doorman and his offered arm completely. She was not going to enter the biggest and most important event of the year on the arm of some loser doorman. That just wouldn't do at all. It was already awful enough the Hallie was bringing the bloody caretaker. Ugh. The thought alone made Peyton cringe. Why on earth her little sister thought it appropriate to bring her bum boyfriend to an event where he clearly didn't belong, was beyond her.
Sauntering into the foyer, Peyton smiled politely at all those she passed, pausing ever so often to offer hello's and make small talk. You could never be too sure who you'd meet and how important or powerful they were so Peyton knew it was best to keep up appearances and talk to pretty much everyone she came into contact with. Networking did happen to be one of her strong points. "If you'll excuse me, I must head inside." Peyton smiled softly at the large, elderly man she was conversing with before turning and heading through the doors that opened up into the Gala room. "Pervert." she muttered under her breath, completely aware that he was staring at her behind as she sauntered away.
Once inside the gala room, Peyton's dark eyes did a careful and calculated scan of the room, taking in both the familiar and unfamiliar faces of the people scattered about in groups. It didn't take long to spot Hallie and the beautiful blonde she was talking with, Megan. Peyton, blinked taken back by Megan and the way she looked in her dress. She wasn't sure she'd ever seen Megan dress in anything that wasn't overly slutty and short so this was both a surprise and a welcome change. Ignoring the quickening pace of her heart, honestly what was that about?, Peyton gracefully plucked a glass of champagne from a silver tray being carried around by a waiter and began to make her way over to where Megan and Hallie were stood.
"I do hope you aren't getting drunk, little sister." Peyton said as she swept up besides Hallie so that she was stood in front of Megan. With a slow and purposeful stare, Peyton allowed her eyes to travel from Megans shoes, up her legs and body to rest on the other girls eyes. "Your dress is.. I approve." she smiled at Megan and gave her a look that said she more than approved of how she looked. Peyton wasn't entirely sure why she sometimes faltered and basically failed when it came down to serious things with Megan but she knew that the other girl could read her expressions like the pages of a book and hoped Megan understood what she couldn't say in words.
