It’s so hard for me to walk away
But I know I can’t stay
To be honest with herself, Hallie knew this was a terrible idea from the start. But she also knew that she needed to get over her breakup, even if it had only been a week, and there was no better way of doing that then going out with one of her friends. Even if this friend was a guy, and he had a habit of flirting with her. Hallie didn’t really mind though, because occasionally Alfie could be thoughtful, especially when he was worried about her sudden depression. Not to mention, Megan thought it would help move her in the right direction. So what if Hallie had developed an exclusive relationship with her bedroom and bed? She came out sometimes….for classes….when she felt like it. Perhaps a date with Alfie was exactly what she needed to get her mind off of, well, everything. Not that she wanted to completely forget about him, but she just wanted to start moving on, and stop feeling so dirty.
Looking around the restaurant, Hallie felt like she could finally catch her breath. Not knowing whether that was because she had the distraction of Alfie to keep her mind off of things, or if because she specifically chose a restaurant she never went to with Braden, but Hallie was finally able to focus on something other than the impurity of her body. In fact, had Hallie been herself, she would have recognized how everyone around her was concerned, and wished for her to only feel better. Between Megan letting the girl sleep in her bed, Jordan offering to take her mini-golfing, and Alfie taking her out on a date, the old Hallie would definitely have felt the love. But this Hallie was simply grateful for the distraction from everything going on. Interrupted from her thoughts for a second by the waitress, Hallie ordered two ice waters, although Alfie wasn’t there yet. He could get something when he showed. Slipping back into her own little world, Hallie was completely oblivious to what was happening around her.
