It's been a hard day's night,, && I've been working like a dog Ruby walked briskly past cubicles on Level Six in the Ministry building, keeping her gaze straight ahead of her. She made eye contact with no one. Her heels clicked against the tiles beneath her. It was late and she wanted to go home. The Minister had kept intern busy all day, traveling from place to place, delivering special notices and checking up on things. Ruby had visited Azkaban to remind the prisoners of their trial dates and then she was off to France for a meeting with the International Magical Cooperation over matters that she could not discuss.
The ginger reached the end of the hallway where the main connector to the Floo Network was located. In one fluid motion, she grasped a handful of Floo Powder and tossed it into the fireplace taking a step into the green flames. Ruby hugged her papers to her chest as she watched fireplace after fireplace whiz past her. A few moments later she stepped off out and into the living room of the Warrington mansion, ducking down so she didn’t hit her head as she had done many times. The girl only took a few steps before she collapsed onto the couch, flinging her high-heeled shoes and bag off to the side. Ruby shut her eyes and put the envelope over her face sighing heavily. tagged;; all of the warringtons words;; 223 outfit;; heremusic;; hard day's night- the beatles notes;; :3

As much as Talan tried to be a loving family member, he wasn't. The last thing that he wanted to do was accompany his brother to something so stupid as a skateboarding tournament. It was absolutely a ridiculous sort of thing and honestly, Parker could do much better with his life. Talan himself had ambition to rival anyone and Ruby was already on the right path, but Parker was not. Not. At. All. And it bothered Talan more than anything. However, at the same time, he found it incredibly impossible to even consider saying no to Mia, so he had found himself stuck going to something ridiculous that he had no desire to attend. Ruby damn well better be at the house so he could drag her along with him. At least she would understand his distress.
Knowing that he was going to be attending something outdoors, Talan had opted for a more casual outfit, which he found incredibly uncomfortable. Anything that wasn't a suit just didn't do for the boy. Apparating away from Hogsmeade, Talan found himself standing in the foyer of the Warrington mansion, quite happy to be home, even if it wasn't for long. Much to his relief, when he walked into the living room just ahead, he was met with the sight of his older sister sprawled out on the couch. "Ah, Ruby, how fortuitous. Just the person I was looking for. You're the lucky lady that gets to accompany me to hell this afternoon," he commented, walking into the room and leaning up against the doorway in a rather nonchalant manner. Yep, hell just about summed it up.

It's been a hard day's night,, && I've been working like a dog Ruby opened her eyes and took the papers off of her face, turning her head to the side facing her brother. “To hell, eh? I was there this morning,” she chuckled slightly. Everything became funny to her when she was that tired and being the ministry’s slave really wore her out. If her mind would let her, she would veg out on the couch for days. But no, Ruby Warrington always had to be doing something. She has to keep her mind constantly working, formulating, anything. It always needed to be in top shape, ready for anything her bosses through at her.
“So Talan, what do you have planned?” Ruby asked with a sigh. She really didn’t want to go anywhere, but if her brother had requested her presence then she might as well go. Ruby wondered what her brother meant by ‘hell’. She could be going back to Hogwarts for something, or Hogsmeade, but as long as it wasn’t back to the ministry, she figured that she’d be fine.

Talan couldn't help but snort in amusement at her comment, though he couldn't say he agreed. He would have killed to be seriously working for the Ministry of Magic already. He had a small position helping in one of the departments, but it wasn't all too important and certainly nothing he was too pleased about. However, the position was a start, especially for someone his age, and he quite intended to go straight into a legitimate job as soon as he got out of school. A long-shot goal, perhaps, but one that Talan had a chance to achieve.
Giving Ruby a rather disgusted look, he shook his head slightly in distress. "I didn't plan it, Ruby. The other two did. Parker is in some sort of...skating thing and they expect me to attend. Obviously, you have to go too," Talan insisted, nodding his head slightly as he spoke. There were no options in the situation and one way or another, Ruby would be going with him to whatever it was Parker had in store for the lot of them. "And there will be lots of boys...and Mia. And I don't like boys with Mia," he added, since obviously that legitimized his reasoning for agreeing to go to the stupid thing.

It's been a hard day's night,, && I've been working like a dog Seeing from the look on Talan’s face he wasn’t too happy with this whole situation. “Like a muggle skating thing?” she raised an eyebrow questioningly. Muggles didn’t usually bother her too much; a few at a time were fine, but Parker had forced her to watch one of these with him once. The place was packed. Every inch was filled with a person. Ruby wasn’t a huge fan of crowds in general, but crowds of muggles? It definitely wasn’t on her list of things to do today. But as soon as Talan mentioned the fact that the place would be packed with boys, Ruby’s view got a bit brighter. “I like boys,” the ginger said with a slight smile as she sat up on the couch, “Oh hush, Talan. Let Mia have her fun. We’ll just keep an eye on her.” Mia did deserve a little fun, just not too much. Ruby’s version of fun should not be attempted by anyone under the age of eighteen, or twenty-one really. “Just don’t let her disappear with some random guy and I’m sure she’ll be fine.” Ruby thought for a minute. Going to a skate competition in her work clothes would not be the greatest idea if she wanted to blend in. She noticed Talan’s choice of apparel. He looked funny without a suit. “You look cute, Talan. I’ll be right back.” The girl stood, scooping up her heels and her bag and walked to her room. Everything was neat and organized like a picture in a magazine, just the way she liked it. She went through her closet to pick out an outfit that suited the occasion and walked back into the living room.

Just the reminder that they would be going to a muggle convention drove Talan absolutely insane. He was an elitist in every sense of the word and muggles just bothered him, disgusted him even. The last thing that he wanted to do was spend the day with a large group of them, but he wasn't about to let Mia go on her own. That just wouldn't do. His protectiveness for Mia far overshadowed his feelings towards muggles. "Yes. It seems out younger sibling has yet to pick a hobby that's actually worthy of our name," Talan spat, clearly not happy about the whole idea. His face scrunched up even more when Ruby mentioned her feelings on boys. As much as he admired Ruby in many ways, he certainly didn't agree with the idea that Mia should be around boys, especially not muggle boys. He simply grunted in response, not in the mood to argue the subject.
His nose crinkled irritably again when she called him cute. He hated being called cute, especially when he felt as uncomfortable as he did. "Yeah, terribly cute," he muttered, dryly, not at all amused. He gave her a quick nod as she got up to leave for a moment and took a seat on the couch to wait. The others would probably show up soon enough and he was settled in to wait for the group to come by the house before leaving together for the event. Stupid muggles. Stupid skating. Stupid Parker.

To say the least Mia was quite excited for Parkers Skating competition. Not only did she get to watch her twin brother have a good time enjoying a sport that he loved but she also got to venture out into the muggle world and attend a muggle event. For Mia, there was always something new and strange to see in the muggle world and because her parents were who they were (Elitists) she didn't get to go into the muggle world often. So today was definitely something she was looking forward too, especially since she got to spend time with both Parker and Talan. Getting Talan to come out and have fun was something of an accomplishment and something that made Mia very happy. As far as she was concerned Talan spent far too much time working and not enough time having fun.
Skipping down the marble stairs in the Warrington Mansion, a dangerous action since she was wearing wedges, Mia hummed a tuneless tune as she made her way to the living room where she knew Talan would be waiting. In her hand she held her purse, which carried her wand and other bits and a large banner that she'd promised Parker she'd make. A smile fell over her lips when she entered the living room and spotted her older sister. "Ruby! Are you coming too?" Mia was aware that Parker was supposed to have asked Ruby to come to the competition but wasn't sure if she'd agreed or not. Mia's smile grew when she spotted Talan and she wandered over to his side. "Hey Tal." she greeted with a smile and then unrolled her banner so that he and Ruby could see all of her hard work. "Do you like it?" The banner was large and had the words "Good luck Parker!" Written in a painted rainbow of colours. Obviously she couldn't bewitch it because they'd be attending a muggle event.

It's been a hard day's night,, && I've been working like a dog “Mhmm. I’m not a huge fan of his skateboarding career. I’d be more than happy to get him a job somewhere. You know I have my connections,” Ruby said with a shrug. She could tell that her brother was beyond upset with Parker’s decisions. Ruby wasn’t too happy either. She has been working so hard to keep the family’s name up on a pedestal while her little brother pushes it to the side and doesn’t seem to care. At least Talan was on the same page as her and all she had to do was try to steer Mia in the right direction.
Her little sister came skipping down the stairs into the living room where the other two were standing. “Yeah, I’m going,” Ruby said with little enthusiasm. She wasn’t exactly thrilled to be surrounded by sweaty muggles. She was only doing it for her siblings. Ruby had to make sure that Parker wouldn’t die during the competition and Talan wouldn’t kill himself being surrounded by muggles. She also had to keep an eye out for little Mia because there would be no kissing muggle boys tonight, or ever. Her sister showed her the banner that she made for Parker. “That’s quite nice, Mia. I bet Parker will love it,” she spoke with a warm smile.

The stark reminder of how different Parker was compared to Ruby and himself brought another scowl to Talan's face. If there was anything that was capable of driving him absolutely crazy, it would be the utter lack of motivation Parker had to do anything actually worthwhile. A career in some silly sport over in the muggle world was hardly something that was worthy of the family name. He just hoped that their parents corrected the mistake before it got to be out of hand. "That's just the problem, I don't think he wants the connections," Talan muttered with a rather sad shake of his head. At least there was still hope that Mia might still be convinced to do something worthwhile with her life.
When another set of footsteps started to pad into the room, Talan's eyes flicked over towards the entrance of the room just in time to see Mia pop up into his view. He gave her a quick nod of greeting and watched in mild interest as she started to unfold a banner dedicated to their other brother. How cute. "Ah, you made a banner," Talan said, simply, not giving any particular commentary on it. Honestly, he didn't think the banner was necessary and he certainly didn't want Parker to be encouraged to continue with this whole skating thing. It was rather clear by Talan's facial expression that he wasn't particularly impressed, though he would never have voiced such an opinion to Mia. To anyone else, sure, but certainly not to Mia.

[/img] And just get back up When it knocks you down. It was typical of Parker to be practicing right before a competition, which was exactly what he had been doing since he woke up this morning. He wasn’t nervous at all, but it wasn’t unusual for him to get jitters, especially the hour leading up to the event. But thankfully it was only ten, and the boarders didn’t have to be there until two, so Parker was chill at the moment. Sitting down on top of the half pipe, Parker inspected his board and smiled. Although the boy was profusely sweating and covered with scratches here and there, he knew this was where he belonged. Unlike Ruby and Talan, Parker tended to have a carefree attitude, one that often accompanies skateboarding. His only problem was landing the perfect trick, enough to beat out all the other competitors.
Getting up and riding down the pipe once more, Parker attempted to land a simple kickflip, but managed to fall on his side. Deciding now would be the best time to give up on the practicing, Parker quickly apparated back to the Warrington mansion, something he technically wasn’t supposed to do. But he did it anyway because number one, he seriously doubted the Ministry had enough time to deal with a minor situation, and number two, if he did get caught, he could probably get Ruby to bail him out. It was probably cruel of him to abuse his sister’s job, but he wasn’t one for the details.
As soon as Parker stepped into the living room where everyone was located, he could immediately see the disappointment on Talan’s face. Typically Parker didn’t care about what others thought, because he believed that he was always right, but he sometimes felt that he needed his brother’s approval. However, what Talan didn’t understand was that, although Parker tried to exceed at school, his dyslexia and ADD often got in the way. So when the letters and numbers started moving, Parker couldn’t find the patience to deal with it, and became frustrated. The only thing he could truly focus on was skateboarding, because it didn’t involve reading, and that’s why he loved it so much. Ay. The whole family’s here. Cool, cool. He nodded his head towards Ruby, whom he hasn’t seen in a while. So everyone is going to come, and not make a big deal of it. Right? Although he didn’t mean to, Parker kind of directed his last question towards his brother.

When Ruby replied that she'd be joining them to watch Parker compete, Mia smiled. It wasn't often that the four of them did anything together so she was quite excited for the day ahead and the time she got to spend with her siblings. Of course Mia hadn't expected a compliment of any sort from Talan when she showed off her banner, so she wasn't hurt. Instead she nodded her head at Ruby and smiled a thanks before rolling the banner back up. Just as she finished putting it away, Parker entered the room. "Hi Parker." she greeted with her usual warm smile. When her twin asked if they'd be okay with today's events, Mia's eyes followed Parkers gaze to look at Talan.
It was no secret that Talan didn't approve of Parkers love skating or the fact that he wanted to make a career out of it. Personally, Mia had no qualms with what Parker wanted to do. It was his life after all and why shouldn't he be able to do something he loved? "Of course Parker." Mia chirped up after a few moments of silence. "We're here to support you." Mia knew that Talan would hardly agree with that statement. But Parker needed the support of his family and Mia wanted to show her twin that they would be there for him, no matter what. That's what family was supposed to do, wasn't it?

It's been a hard day's night,, && I've been working like a dog “Well that much is obvious. One would think a Warrington would have snatched up as many connections that they could get their hands on,” Ruby stated with a sigh. She was quite disappointed in her little brother’s career choice. As the oldest sibling she worked so hard to set a good example for her brothers and sister and Parker didn’t even seem to take it into account. When Mia unraveled the banner that she had made, Ruby sort of complimented her on it while Talan barely acknowledged her work. Ruby glared at her brother. It was one of those ‘say something nice or I might kill you’ looks.
“Ello Parker,” she said after he walked into the room, a warm smile played across her lips masking her disappointment. As the eldest sibling, Ruby knew about Parker’s little issue, but she didn’t understand it one bit. “Yes, of course,” Ruby nodded, agreeing with her little sister’s statement. As much as she didn’t want to, she had to support Parker with whatever he was going to do, even if it was this skating thing.

When Parker came into the room, Talan's eyes lazily flicked over to the entrance, clearly disinterested in the entire situation. The fact that he was there was enough in his mind, so being cordial and pleasant about it was just unnecessary extra effort on his part. At Parker's question, he could tell that it was mostly directed towards him and that the rest of his family was quite aware of that. Glancing up from where he had been looking at his shoes, Talan gave the group a shrug, not exactly willing to make any promises. If there was a reason for him to make a big deal out of the occasion, that he certainly wouldn't hesitate to do just that. Instead, Talan simply rose to his feet from where he had been sitting, crossing his arms in front of him in a displeased manner.
If they were going to have to go to the stupid thing, they may as well go and get it over with now. "Well, we don't want to be late, so we'd best be going," Talan said in a very business like tone, much like always. He was assuming that the group would be apparating there together, even if it was a muggle event, since there was absolutely no way Talan would be taking any form of muggle transportation to get there. That was taking it too far. "I can apparate with Mia and Ruby, you can take Parker, yeah?" he suggested, since it seemed like the most logical set up. Not to mention, he didn't intend to let Mia move more than a few inches away from him while there were muggle boys about.
