Despite the loud chatter that surrounded Serendipity the girl managed to stay curled up sleeping hugging her infamous penguin PillowPet. Though it was only a few hours after dinner the girl was napping. The day had been quite stressful and tiring. She had just finished both her homework and work. Essays and selling musical instruments. Both tasks were quite easy for the girl, but when functioning on only three and a half hours of sleep it made the task a tad bit difficult. But somehow Serendipity Smith, the odd girl that she was, managed to pull it off. In fact many of her friends were quite impressed by the girl. They all were familiar with the fact that the girl had insomnia, on and off, which not only influenced her sugar intake but her personality as well but for some reason it never really influenced the way she functioned as a student and a worker. Sure she yawned often and complained about being tired, but what student didn’t do that on a daily basis? But what else was even crazier was the amazing amount of As the girl received instead of Ts. In fact, she never got any Ts, despite the small amount of sleep and the little amount of studying she did. However that was who Serendipity Nova-Lynn Smith was, a brilliant girl who rarely got any sleep and complained often about it. Sure there were plenty of cures, both Muggle and Magical, but the she was unwilling to take any. She knew the side effects of both, addictive and dependency. She not only feared the side effects but on top of that she felt it was completely unnecessary considering how her insomnia only came around during times of great stress. The problem was sometimes she did not know what was causing the stress so she was stuck with the insomnia till her stress faded away.
Recently she was confused and stressed. No, not by school work. But by her heart, like most teenaged girls. Her heart pounded and her palms sweated whenever she was around a certain teenaged boy, even more so nowadays, and the guy who this happened around was not an ordinary childhood friend. He was Adam Seamus Finnigan. Her best friend, someone who she needed no matter what. But for some odd crazy reason her heart pounded even more nowadays. Perhaps it was because now Adam was not some scrawny little brat who chased her around teasing her. No now he was a tall, muscular, attractive boy. Actually, no boy was not the right word for him. Perhaps, young adult? No, not even that was right for describing Adam. Young man, now that was perfect. Adam Seamus Finnigan was now a tall, muscular, attractive young man who chased her around teasing her. It was a normal reaction for any girl. However for Serendipity this was not supposed to be happening, at all. Especially considering how she had just recently gotten him back after he finally escaped the grasps of queen bitch, his ex-girlfriend. But it was happening, it had been happening, ever since they were little. She had been in love with him, but she ignored it all and went on saying she loved him like a brother. A pesky, troublesome, annoying, brother but that was far from the truth. No matter how pesky and troublesome he got, she could not help but fall for him even more. It did not matter what he did. Serendipity continued to love him. It caused her great stress because she feared that it would lead to her loosing him but for now it was leading her to a life of very little sleep.

It was pretty deep in the night, possibly too deep for studying, which was what Adam was doing. Despite the fact he didn't really need to study, it was great distraction from what was really bothering Adam, something he had been avoiding for a while. That something, or someone, was his childhood friend, one he recently just made up with. Not wanting to risk anything in their newly mended friendship, Adam tossed his feelings aside so that he didn't have deal with any of the problems came with it. He especially didn't want to tell her, Serendipity Smith, his feelings in fear that she didn't feel the same. He doubted she would, being as irritating as he was, and the way he acted with her before. Tossing Serendipity was a big mistake for him, obviously if was for his recent ex. He wasn't himself with her, she changed him into a asshole who left everything he cared for, distancing him from his friends and family. Thankfully, he was able to get loose from her devil hands grasps. Again, he was able to get his best friend back, which was the best thing ever to him, and he hoped to never go back to the way they use to be when she ignored him.
The restless night continued on as Adam tried to heal is aching neck with a pitiful neck rub, that failed, terribly. His wand flashed brightly in his face, causing a slight headache alone with his neck, and the constant thoughts of his best friend. With those thoughts pestering him, Adam couldn't think properly and needed to get out of his dorm for a while. So he creeped out past his dorm mates, and down towards the commons. He didn't understand the reason why she was the one to cause him to loose it, breath taken away and all that, and he wished it would go away so that they could continue a normal friendship. Sadly, it wasn't going away that fast. He couldn't ignore her, that's what got him in trouble in the first place, and he liked spending time with her no matter how confused he made her. He contemplated the outcomes of the many possibilities, one was good, and the other was bad. The good one was, she felt the same way and they lived happily ever after. The other, she didn't and their friendship was tested to where they weren't friends yet, which was why he didn't make a move. He cared too much for her to loose her, to never have the friendship they somewhat had now, and all the good times gone to waste. So he stayed distant, and kept his cool about it all, just waiting until exploded from all of it.

Yawning softly Dippy rubbed her eyes and uncurled herself from her ball. Though most people would have found the position she had placed herself in to be quite uncomfortable, she did not mind. Rather than sitting up properly she quickly curled herself back up into a ball but the moment she saw Adam she felt tempted to uncurl herself and scurry over to him. However she held herself back. Their relationship was not the same, not exactly any way. She could not act like her old self around him and even if she did she had other problems. Her feelings. Her stupid, complex feelings that confused her to her very core. But rather than allowing her mind to linger on those thoughts, Serendipity called out to Adam, Adam, come over here. Awkwardly patting the empty spot right next to her Serendipity felt butterflies in her stomach. All she needed to see was Adam for her heart to pound like mad. It was absurd. The feelings she had for him was not supposed to be happening. But it was. It had been for years. Many of her ex-boyfriends even asked who she was dating because of the way she acted with Adam. Her sweet and hyper side came out instantly. She rarely ever was grumpy and if she was, it faded immediately.
The only time Serendipity even got mad at Adam was when he pushed her aside for the evil queen bitch. It was because everyone else usually left her due to her cynical, bitter personality. But Adam never did. No matter how cynical and sarcastic she got, he was around, excluding the time he was dating queen bitch. Now he was back and now her heart pounded like crazy, even more than usual, and more butterflies fluttered about. It was not fair. It was not supposed to be happening. Not when she had just gotten him back, especially since she had just gotten him back. She knew there was a possibility of him returning her feelings, a lot of people told her this, but there still was a chance of him not and that would just ruin their relationship. That was something she could not afford. Not now, not ever. So that meant the feelings she had for Adam would be limited to sisterly affection… Though many did say it extended to girlfriend affections. But that was just what they thought and hopefully it was something Adam did not believe.

Letting out a deep yawn, stretching his muscles, and yawning again, Adam heard Serendipity. He was surprised to see her this time of night, but he assumed they both were just occupied with studies. Although he was some sort of genius, Adam was oblivious to the fact that they both had some sort of instant connection, soul mates even, but when it came to Serendipity h was too stupid to realize a good thing. Probably from his past relationship decisions, it was obvious he wasn't good at picking the right gal for him, or avoiding the right gal for him. Looking forward to Serendipity, she invited him to sit with her, and Adam wasn't hesitant to do so. With a big happy smile, Adam made his way towards his, for now, friend. Not sure how he was going to position himself, Adam just plopped on the sofa all goofy like, and smiled all goofy like. Trying to get a smile out of Serendipity he kept this goofiness up, being he liked her smile out all the smiles he has seen. It wasn't very hard to get her to smile, Adam didn't know why, but she seemed a bit more joyful around him. Same for him.
It wasn't fair the way Adam treated Rin, she was his best friend, childhood friend, and so on. He didn't even believe she ever would forgive him, god knows Adam doesn't forgive himself, and she just up and forgave him. The power of friendship, was what Adam assumed, nothing more. Again, Adam wasn't so smart around her, not that she was stupid herself, just the way she was made him melt. Not wanting her to see his melting self, Adam kept his cool, trying to keep up the class clown act just to hide it. Unfortunately, he was no actor, far from it. Reluctant to show his true feelings, Adam kept putting on a show to distract from it all. It would have worked, if she was blind. "Uhmm... So?" Adam paused quite awkwardly. "Oh! Is this the famous penguin, thingy?" he asked reaching to poke it's soft material. He faintly remembered her recent threat towards him, something about she'll hit him with it if he left her in the dust again. It was mostly unlikely Adam would do such a thing again, he had is morals, and he didn't like him before he was saved from that devil woman.
She was the worse thing to happen to him, she brought out the side nobody ever wanted to see, his ugly side. He was inconsiderate, iniquitous , an asshole, and he basically lost himself with her. Also, he wasn't with Serendipity, who was the only thing he thought about during their entire relationship. Not enough to dump that bitch sooner, but luckily he was able to slip out of her grasp, and reunite with his best friend. Further more, he got himself back, which was the second best thing. He wasn't going back to her, nothing could bring him back, not even with the siren songs could she lure him back toward the depths of her darkness. Adam didn't want that darkness, he wanted the light at the end of the tunnel, the one with Serendipity at the end as well.
He supposes the relationship wasn't all too bad, he got a bigger perspective on what he really wanted, and what he didn't. And what he really wanted, was something he isn't sure he can have, Serendipity. He couldn't put his finger on what it was about her he loved so much, the perfect smile, the blonde locks, or that she was stronger than underestimated. She seemed to perfect to be real, too flawless to walk on the earths ground, and a blessing to himself. It wasn't natural for strong, smart, and manly Adam Finnigan. Being all lovey dovey over Rin, it didn't seem like him, but I guess this was the side she brought out of him, the good side.

The moment Adam sat down next to her a smile appeared on her face and she immediately sat up properly. But the only reason why she sat up properly was so that she could use Adam’s shoulder as a pillow instead. Blinking a few times she playful bopped him on that head with her penguin pillowpet while teasingly saying, His name is Mr. Oreo the Penguin thank you very much and yes, I just said Oreo. Speaking of which…You still owe me candy mister! Don’t think I’ve forgotten!
Forgiving someone for abandoning her was something that she did not do. Serendipity Nova-Lynn Smith was well known for her belief in loyalty. But for Adam Seamus Finnigan, she willingly forgave him in an instant. She could not help it. She had to forgive him. Her life had been miserable with him. No, not even miserable. It was horrible and unbearable. She rarely ever smiled and was almost always grumpy. Now, she smiled every day and instead suffered from insomnia time to time, but that was something she could handle. Being alone without Adam was something she could not. She had enough of that to last her a life time.
But was she going to willingly admit without the aid of some Firewhiskey or Vodka? Nope. Her lips were sealed, silenced. No matter what happened, unless he confessed first which was very unlikely to happen. She just could not. It meant a possibility of loosing her best friend, the one who always managed to make her smile and laugh no matter how bad her day started out. She needed him, not only for her sanity but for her happiness. It was not that she could not be happy without him, it was just that he brought it out of her more often.
Ugh...my insomnia is back again… Burying her face into Adam’s shoulder, she continued to grumble, Its nice to have my pillow back by the way. I think I will be able to sleep a lot better with you as my pillow. Something Serendipity had done ever since she was a little girl was use Adam’s shoulder as a pillow. It was comforting and comfortable. But that was not the only reason why Dippy used his arm as often as she did, it was because he was Adam. Everything about him put her at ease. He was brilliant, goofy, adorable, handsome. He was everything Serendipity wanted in a guy and then some. The problem was, she was not willing to put their friendship to the test and so now that was all they could be. Best friends, a brother from another mother, and time to time a date, but only when either one of them could not find one.
