chuckling an eye-brow went up as tristan commented, really? well, i happen to think great minds think alike. though they were different, different in the sense that tristan was a gryffindor while viktoria was a ravenclaw, they were also very much alike. they both lost a parent that they were close to and changed afterwards. it was because of this he instantly connected with her, but now it was more than that.
viktoria was his best friend, but that was not all she was. she was someone who meant the world to him. someone he needed in his life, just he was not all that willing to fess up to all this. actually, he did. he just had more of a difficult time saying that he wanted a full on relationship, but then again even if he wanted one she was not his. she was warrington's.
but all thoughts talan warrington disappeared from his mind as viktoria confirmed that she would be visiting. a broad grin appeared on his face as he said, great, any idea when you'll be visiting? so i can tell my mother ahead of time.

viktoria had to admit, tristan was her best friend. she didn't really connect with anybody like how she connected with tristan. they both loss a parent that they were very close with and basically completely changed afterwards. viktoria got very depressed after her mother died and was bitter and almost exactly like how tristan is right now. vik sees herself in tristan whenever she sees him being mean and bitter towards other people. she tries to find the tristan that left when his father died, but so far she hasn't found it. she's seen small sparks of it, but nothing huge. he acts nicer towards her than other people, but sometimes she wishes that he'd be nice to everybody. well, not everybody. viktoria isn't even nice to everybody.
"whenever you would like me to, i'll be around paris for most of break anyway. my mom's family has been wanting to see me since..." oh, great. by talking about france she automatically talked about her mother. thank god that the waitress came back so it didn't get awkward. she ran her hand through her hair, nervously. her hand was shaking a bit from just bringing her up. she hasn't talked about her mother since second year. it's been a long time. shay asked what they would like. "oh, i'll get the steak cheese sandwhich and butterbeer." she spoke softly, afraid of crying. she never ever brought up her mother and at home she was never brought up. nobody ever asked her about her mother, they knew she had died, they just didn't care.

the kinder, charming tristan who existed when his father was alive died, but when vitkoria was in the picture he came back to life. actually, no. when viktoria or his mother came into the picture that tristan came back to life, but whenever neither were around he turned into a could-be-slytherin. something many despised, but tristan could care less. as long as the ones he cared about did not mind, he was going to continue that persona even if it drew people away from him.
the moment tristan saw viktoria's shaking hand, he gently placed his hand on her's and gave her a light squeeze. he kept quiet and did not say a word. he understood but had no words, despite having gone through a similar situation. luckily the waitress returned, perkiness and all which irritated him slightly but because viktoria was around he refrained from saying anything rude, i'll have the spicy steak cheese sandwich and a butterbeer.
the moment the cheery brunette left he quickly changed the topic, hmmm, would you be up for celebrating new year's with my mum and myself? though they were not going to have a party or attend one, a little get together was better than nothing at all especially since it meant spending time with viktoria.

viktoria hardly spoke of her mother. no, she never spoke of her mother. whenever she was brought up in a conversation that viktoria was in she would start crying or start shaking. she missed her mother more than she missed anybody else. she was the one person who understood the arranged marraige and her life. she was also the only person that viktoria would go to for advice on everything. she died right before vik started to hit puberty and started to have feelings for boys, so it was very hard on her and on her father. but romila was around for viktoria to talk to. but she didn't once talk to the lady. although romila tried, vik was bitter towards the lady and refused to talk. sometimes when you get vik at a bad moment the bitter and cold inside of her will come out. it's come out many times, mostly around romila and nika, though. thinking about her mother made viktoria think about the last time she had talked to someone about her mother and what she went through, she realized that she never talked about it, not once to anybody, not even to her father or to tristan.
viktoria smiled small at tristan and squeezed his hand. he was the only person who understood what she had went through. although, her mother had been killed by a vampire and his father wasn't. but that wasn't the point. they both lost a parent and that's all that mattered. "thanks... for everything." she whispered softly before the waitress came in the most cheerful attitude she had ever seen.
viktoria wiped her eyes with her one free hand and ran her hand through her hair afterwards. she smiled as if the little moment she just had didn't even happen, at all. "i would love to. there's a party in bulgaria but i would much rather spend new year's with you. it's not very special anyway, just a bunch of bulgarians getting drunk and asking lots of questions about school... and things." questions that involved why she didn't have a child already and expecting. her family was old fashioned and wanted her to be married off and with kids already at seventeen.

tristan was extremely grateful. his mother, noel moon, had not married even though it had been two years and a half since that fateful day. had she decided to remarry tristan knew for a fact that he would be a much worse kid than he was and his mother would be well aware of it. sure his mother dated around, but the moment he had a chance to speak to the man himself he made certain that the man was well aware what he would be getting involved with if he hurt his mother.
nodding was all he could do. he never spoke of the pain he still felt, not even to viktoria. whenever his mother's eyes teared up he knew exactly what his mother was thinking about. it broke his heart that his mother was still in pain over his father's death, but then again tristan himself still wasn't over it.
smiling faintly tristan chuckled as he commented, well there won't be much drinking, most likely we'll just cuddle up with the dogs watch a couple of movies, make dinner together, and watch the count down together. after his father died there weren't that many parties his mother held so a guest coming most likely would change the scenery, a bit, but most likely it would still be the same; some quality mother-son bonding with the dogs.

viktoria had only been about two at the time when her father remarried to romilda. viktoria never liked the woman, even when she was a little girl. the only thing she did like about her was that she went to school at hogwarts so viktoria would be going to school there also, not to beauxbatons. vik would've ended up going there because her mother's family was french, although she also went to hogwarts. after hogwarts she moved back to france so vik would've ended up going there. she didn't ever want to go there, she didn't like the idea of wearing skirts and she barley understood french plus she loved hogwarts, she'd dreamt about going there since her mother told her about her days as a young ravenclaw.
viktoria would never be over the death of her mother. it's just something that you never get over. the two had a special bond that she would never ever have. although she had started to feel a similar feeling when she was around tristan. viktoria smiled sadly and intertwined her fingers with his and just stared at their hands fitting perfectly together, like two puzzle pieces.
viktoria sad smile disappeared as quickly as it appeared. "that sounds great." she smiled and held their hands closer to her face. "you have strong hands, like my fathers." she smiled and glanced at tristan and just kept on smiling.
