Gabby stared with half-lidded eyes at the menu held in her hands, not really paying it any attention but holding it up before her all the same. She already knew what she was going to order. She’d known before she’d entered the café, before she’d tumbled out of bed even. She knew because she ordered the same thing every Sunday morning without fail. The only reason she was staring at, but not really reading the menu, was because she waiting on her usual order of food and kind of bored. Anyway, as far as she knew, they could have added more dishes to the menu since last Sunday and she wanted to check them out. Not that it would have made any difference anyway. Sat alone in the far corner of Chimera Cafe, a popular café in Hogsmeade and one of Gabby’s favorite haunts, she placed the menu back into it’s holder and crossed her arms on the tables surface, resting forward onto them. Her brown eyes did a quick sweep of the café, taking in the familiar surroundings and the unfamiliar faces of the other customers sat scattered around the large room. There weren’t many people in. Just a few couples here and there, which was how Gabby liked it. It was still early , 7:17 am to be exact and many people were still tucked up in bed. The Café was even more empty than usual not only because of the time but because of the fact that it was a Sunday. Most normal people liked to have a lazy Sunday by stopping in bed until noon. Gabby herself loved sleep. She wasn’t a morning person. At all. In fact she was a complete monster if ever woken up earlier than necessary. Her family knew that all too well. But dragging herself up at seven on a Sunday morning so that she was here for Chimera opening was something she was happily willing to do. Why? Because Mikey works Sundays. And Mikey makes the best damn pancakes in. The. World.
It was in her third year, on her first trip to Hogsmeade, that she'd stumbled across the Chimera Cafe. She'd stopped in to grab something to eat since she'd skipped breakfast up at Hogwarts. It was on that day that she met Mikey and the wonderfulness that were his panckakes. Over time, coming to the Cafe every Sunday for Mikey's pancakes had become something of a ritual. It didn't hurt that Gabby thought he was cute either, even though he was way too old for her. But there wasn't anything wrong with having a schoolgirl crush or hoping that he might one day propose to her. Gabby smiled at the idea of having Mikey for her husband. It would be brilliant. He'd make her pancakes everyday and life would be good. Of course he had a girlfriend and a baby, but she could fantasize. Besides she had.. well, her stupid crush on Felix.
The thought of her best friend popping into her head had her pulling out the wrapped christmas present she had yet to give to him. It was nothing much, just a silver chain with two dog tags attached. One inscribed with his name, Felix Wood and the other inscribed with the words "Never change." She'd wanted to put something else but everything she wanted to say seemed.. too personal. Too personal for just friends. So she'd ended up with some lame quote that she wasn't all that happy with. A frown pulled at her lips and she tucked away the present into her pocket. So much had happened since she had put everything on the line and confessed her feelings to Felix that she'd simply given up on the idea of anything happening between them. It was a lost cause and it hurt like hell but there wasn't much she could do without risking their friendship. She knew she didn't have the strength or courage to try, not again.
Being sat next to a window allowed Gabby to see that there was a light drizzle of rain spattering against the glass. Gabby didn't mind the rain. She, unlike most people, actually enjoyed it when it rained and couldn't understand why people got so down about it. It was only water after all. Drumming her fingers against the table, Gabby smiled when the waitress arrived with her glass of orange juice and explained that her pancakes would be ten more minutes. "Thanks." She took a sip from her drink and when she placed the glass down on the table, she began to trace her index finger over the rim in slow circles, ignoring the growl of anticipation that rumbled in her stomach and the heavy ache in her heart. tagged;; felix words;; dunno lyrics;; none outfit;; here notes;;erm, yes i am a lazy bitch, i revised an old post. x]

It had been awhile since Felix had really been his usual self, but that wasn't to say he wasn't starting to come around. He'd been through a pretty rough time as of late, but being home for the holidays had done wonders on his disposition and made him a lot more prepared to go back to school when the time rolled back around. Of course, that wasn't to say he was entirely better. There were still moments where he just kind sat around, kicking at the ground and doing a whole lot of nothing, aside from thinking about everything that had happened. Those moments were starting to come less and less as time passed, but it didn't make it much easier when his thoughts did travel back to the twins and Frankie and the whole big mess that he had been so stupid to cause. He knew it wasn't entirely his fault, sure, but there had to be a large chunk of blame on himself and he hated himself for it.
However, Felix knew that if he was going to carry on with his life with any sense of normality, he would have to pick himself up and keep on going. It was really all that he could do anymore. Beating himself up over everything for the rest of his life wouldn't do anyone any good, that was obvious. He wouldn't be able to just completely forget about it, but he could try and move on from it as best he could and pick up the pieces of his life. Of course, he couldn't think of any better way to continue on with his recovery than to spend more time around the people that he cared about. Having spent the entire break with his family, Felix felt that it was about time for some serious best friend time with Gabby. He was glad that she had stuck by him through everything going on and that they hadn't fallen out because of it all, since he honestly felt like she was one of the few things keeping him together anymore.
So, when she suggested that they hit up a Falcons game together, Felix had readily jumped on the opportunity. Not only was it a good chance to start connecting with his future team, it was also the perfect place to just be himself and be around Gabby. However, as was typical with Gabby, they were going to grab something to eat before they went about their other activities for the day. It just wouldn't be a day with Gabby if they didn't spend a large part of it eating, obviously. It was an early start to the day, but if they wanted to grab food, than they had to get it out of the way that early, since Felix had planned a surprise or two for Gabby. Besides, it wasn't like Felix had been sleeping, since he had still insisted on going through with his daily practice regiment before they were able to go out and do anything.
Once Felix had gotten himself dressed in suitable clothes to go out to a Quidditch match in, he spent a few more minutes getting his hair all mussed up to perfection. Obviously, it just wouldn't do if his hair were anything less than perfect. When he was finally satisfied, Felix grabbed their tickets for the game later, any other essentials to going out, and then took off from the Gryffindor tower to meet Gabby down at the Chimera Cafe. He thought it a rather strange place to meet, since they could literally go anywhere they wanted that day, but Gabby seemed to like going there each week and Felix was happy to oblige her. They usually had pretty good food, at any rate, so he didn't mind it all too much. Not to mention, his older brother happened to be the co-owner. Though, Felix didn't know if he worked on Sunday mornings or not.
Pounding down the pathway to Hogsmeade, Felix was actually pretty excited about the rest of the day. Good food, good Quidditch, and good friends. There was hardly a better way to spend his time, as far as Felix was concerned. Opening the door to the cafe when he reached the entrance, Felix's eyes scanned the crowd for a moment until he spotted Gabby off to the side. His mouth slid up into a half-smile and he quickly made his way over to where she was, sitting himself down across from her. "Hey, Gabs. You look good," he commented, giving her a quick nod as he spoke. She did look good, considering all that she too had been through not so long before all of his drama had struck. That, too, was something else that he didn't feel all too fantastic about. However, he didn't want to dwell on that either. Right now, he just wanted to have a good time with his best friend.

The door chimed and Gabby looked up from her juice to see Felix heading towards her. Her stomach fluttered, as it always did, at the sight of him. She pushed away the annoying feeling and smiled. "Thanks." She replied, as Felix slid into the seat across from her. "You don't look half bad yourself, Wood." She half grinned at him and then quickly diverted her gaze, her face almost burning red when she realized that she'd just inadvertadly flirted with him. Hopefully he'd think she was being her usual sarcastic self and nothing more "Here." she pushed over the menu she'd been reading earlier, hoping to distract him. "You're going to need your energy." Honestly, things were so much easier before she'd been an idiot and went and confessed her dumb feelings to him. Easier in the sense that she could joke about things like his looks with him without feeling completely awkward because he just might be thinking about the day she'd confessed. For a moment she wondered if she should just 'Obliviate' his memory of that whole conversation. But of course she'd never mess around with Felix's head. Maybe she could use it on herself.
Just as Gabby was mulling over the idea of 'Obliviating' her memory, the waitress appeared, pancakes in hand. "Here you are." Grinning like a kid in a candy store, Gabby sat up straight, readying herself for the food she was about to gorge herself on. "Mikey gave you a few extra, on the house." The waitress winked down at her, smiling when Gabby commented that Mikey was the best, and then turned her attention to Felix. "Call me over when you're ready to order, honey." Once she'd disappeared, Gabby picked up her knife and fork and immediately began to tuck in.
"You know, If you ask really nicely, I might just let you try the brilliance of these pancakes." Gabby said after she'd chewed and swallowed her first bite. There was more than enough on her plate for two, especially since Mikey had given her extra. If it were anyone else, Gabby wouldn't have shared. But since it was Felix and she pretty much shared everything with him when it came down to food and sweets, she didn't mind so much. "Oh!" she chirped up suddenly and dropped her knife and fork to the side, shoving her hand into her pocket. "Here." she pulled out the wrapped box from her pocket and slid it across the table for Felix to take. "Sorry it's late. I blame the owls, they're getting lazy." She half grinned and then distracted herself with the plate of pancakes on the table. tagged;; felix words;; dunno lyrics;; none outfit;; here notes;;erm, yes i am a lazy bitch, i revised an old post. x]

Felix was obviously used to being complimented, but he still smiled just as wide when Gabby told him that he was looking pretty good himself. He had that little grin that just sparkled whenever he was in a good mood. Despite everything going on recently, he was there with his best friend and it was impossible not to want to smile. "Well, thank you very much," he replied with a swift nod as he took his seat. He noted the slight blush that appeared on her face, though he couldn't have told you what it was about and so he simply ignored it. There was no reason for Gabby to feel awkward about the two of them, so he assumed it was something silly. He didn't have much time to dwell on it, at any rate, since Gabby quickly pushed the menu into his hands for him to look over. "I always need my energy, Gabs," he commented as his eyes started to scan over the menu. Honestly, Felix probably would have ordered one of everything at that point, since he was pretty hungry. However, he was in public and clearly couldn't be caught eating like a complete pig. Perhaps he would just order a few things.
As he looked over the menu, Felix heard the clanking of plates in front of him and looked up to see that Gabby was already getting her order. "Hey, you ordered without me!" Felix protested with an offended look. Though, he probably shouldn't have been surprised, since it was Gabby and food. Food that looked absolutely delicious, to be exact. Looking up at the waitress for a moment, Felix nodded to indicate that he heard her before his eyes moved back over towards Gabby and the humongous plate of pancakes in front of them. "I would very much like to try some of your pancakes, please," Felix said as he reached over with his fork. He would have taken some even without her approval, since they were close enough to be able to do that, but it was always good to know that she would share anyway. Popping a bite of it into his mouth, Felix grinned as he swallowed. They were absolutely brilliant.
Tilting his head to the side at Gabby's expression, he watched as she pulled something out from her pocket and slid it across the table. It appeared to be a gift, which wasn't something that Felix had been expecting at all. "Oh, wow, thanks Gabs," he commented as he picked it up. Carefully undoing the wrapping, Felix opened up the box to reveal a silver chain with two dog tags on the end. Grasping the tags, Felix turned them over to read them, a soft smile appearing on his face. "This is perfect, Gabs. Uh, thank you," he said, his voice quite sincere. Taking the chain from the box, he slipped it up over his head and adjusted it around his neck. It fit perfectly, much to Felix's excitement. Twisting it around once more in his fingers, Felix dropped his hand and looked up at Gabby with a grin. "You didn't have to do this, you know. But, it's awesome. It'll be my good luck charm," he announced with a nod.

Gabby shrugged her shoulders, a little guiltily and mouthed the word 'Sorry' to Felix at his exclamation. On any other day, in any other cafe, she would have waited for him to arrive before she ordered. But this wasn't any other day and this wasn't any other cafe. Mikey and his pancakes came before anything and everyone else. At least on Sunday's, anyway. "Brilliant, right?" she said, smiling a bit as Felix tried his very first bite of Mikey's pancakes. That had to be her good deed for the day, introducing the excellence of Mikey's pancakes to someone else. Maybe she could make a thing out of it, let other people know about 'the pancakes'. But then everyone could come down here for Mikey's cooking and that wouldn't do at all.
Pushing the plate over a little so that Felix could help himself to some more pancakes if he liked, Gabby casually glanced up from eating to watch him unwrap his gift. "It's nothing. Just a very late christmas present." she shrugged as if she hadn't spent what seemed like forever searching for the perfect present for him, as if it had been no trouble at all. The aloof act she was putting across was quick to slip away when Felix said that it would be his good luck charm. A goofy grin lit up her face. "That means you can never take it off, you know." she said matter-of-factly, smiling a bit, very glad that Felix seemed to like it.
"Looking forward to seeing your future team play today?" Gabby aksed, twirling a bit of pancake on the end of her fork into a puddle of syrup. "They're playing The Wimbourne Wasps. So I think it's safe to say that the Falcons have it in the bag." The game would be over quite fast no doubt, since The Wasps weren't very good at all. Gabby had only ever seen The Falcons play once, against Puddlemere. The Falcons had lost but they'd still been pretty good. They'd given The Puds a run for their money at least. They were kind of the underdog of the Quidditch world, The Falcons. They were good but they could be better, Gabby thought. Maybe they would be, when Felix joined. Of course she wasn't going to voice that out loud since it would just go straight to his head and Gabby thought that Felix's ego was far too big already. But she guessed that was what happened when you were very good looking and very talented.
"Good thing I brought my umbrella." she frowned, her gaze pulled to the window and the rain that was pouring down behind it. "I can't wait until we can apparate." she turned her attention back to her food and continued eating. "You are staying for your seventh year, aren't you?" she asked, remembering when Felix had first said that he was graduating early so that he could play Quidditch. But that was back when Frankie had been pregnant, back when he was going to have a family to support. Now she wasn't sure what his plans were. All Gabby knew was that it would be absoloutely rubbish if Felix did graduate early. The thought of it made her frown and chew at her lower lip.
