If I'm a bad person, you don't like me Well, I guess I'll make my own way Despite the fact that Talan had the means to live an exciting and fulfilling life, he often found himself just sitting around and doing absolutely nothing when he could be out doing something worthwhile. It wasn't that he didn't want to be out living his life to the fullest, it was just that he found himself becoming too absorbed in whatever schoolwork was at hand to do much else. He was generally a very practical person and his trips to Hogsmeade or to spend time with other people were often only because he had a list of other things on his hands that he needed to take care of in the town. It was very rare that he just went out to enjoy himself, a fact that he certainly regretted sometimes. However, his dedication to his studies and his post as Head Boy kept him from being too terribly distraught over the lack of excitement in his life. After all, if he was to be the Minister of Magic someday than he had to learn discipline now so that he could make it.
Sitting at a desk in the commons room, Talan sighed as he continued scratching at the parchment in front of him in hopes of finishing his potions essay before the evening was out, not at all in the mood to be dealing with the properties of wartroot in potions. It was so simple and anyone with a lick of intelligence could easily give a list of them. He really didn't see the purpose in sitting down and writing a whole new essay on something that more than one author had written about previously and definitely much better than he himself could write it. Sure, he had quite a lot of ability when it came to writing, but it wasn't at all what he wanted to do for a living and therefore it seemed like a complete waste of his life to bother with it. He wanted to be the Minister of Magic, not a potions author.
It wasn't his favorite subject, that was for sure, nor did he really see why he even had to take it. As far as Talan could see, there really wasn't much use for potions in politics. At least, not in the clean politics that he intended to run. Most people probably assumed that Talan would be the type to play dirty when it came to such things, but he wasn't. He wasn't opposed to the idea of manipulation, sure, but mind games was an acceptable use of his skills. In fact, that was what Talan thrived on. Any chance to spin words around and get people to do exactly what he wanted with nothing more than a few well placed phrases, well, that was his bread and butter. He didn't care about all of the seriously underhanded things that went on sometimes in current politics, he just wanted to get things done through his own skill and merit. Which, he was pretty positive, had nothing to do with potions.
Grumbling slightly in irritation at the paper, Talan pushed it to the side and decided that he really wasn't in the mood for something so trivial. Essays could be done anytime and later would work just as well as now. In fact, much later would be even better. For now, Talan wanted to just sit back and do absolutely nothing related to school. Or, even better, find someone to do something with that would get him away from it for awhile. He considered messaging Megan, but he really wasn't in the mood to deal with her at the moment and he could have messaged someone else perhaps, but he didn't want any drama. No, Talan needed to be with one of the guys and go out and just be a guy for awhile. As much as he loved being the proper and well-bred young man that he was, even he deserved a chance to just be a teenager sometimes. Leaning back in his seat, he settled in to wait for someone interesting to come along that he could rope into doing something actually fun.

Is it okay to break someone's heart, if they've broken yours so many times before? As Alek ran a hand through her long black hair, turning the corner to go into the Slytherin's common room, she thought about what she wanted to do with her life. Granted, she had two more years to think about it, but she wanted her future to be now. Where would she be in two years? The question always boggled her, what would she do with her life? Alek wanted to do something important, something that would bring change to the world. Imagine, Alekzandra Helina Angeles... in big letters, but of course, Alek never knew what to do.
She finally neared the entrance to the Slytherin common room, dark, and looming. Alek muttered the password, and entered the common room, after studying in the library. Too many of the children in the Slytherin household were talking about the Death Squadren, and the Mauraders. Alek and Caine were warned by their parents not to join any side, or else they'd disown them. So, in order to just not be any part of it, Alek usually ended up going to the library, trying to forget about her friends begging her to come to the Dark Squadran side. Alek knew she was loosing friends because she wasn't following them. She wanted to join them, be a part of something big, but the fear of disownation threatened her idealism.
She looked up, seeing a man before her, sitting in a desk, idly crumpling up a paper. Alek instantly recognized him as Talen, Hogwarts' head boy, and another part of the Death Pact, or whatever. Her breath hitched in her throat, seeing him there. It was obvious, even if he was a Slytherin, girls were lining up at his feet, trying to get him to notice them. Still, there was something that was holding him back. What's her name? Oh yes, Megan. Alek conjured up the name and tried to go up the stairs silently, but ended up crashing into something, making a silver candleabra crash onto the floor. "Oh dear, I'm so sorry," She gasped. notes; Sorry it's so short!!!! tags; talen words; 341 lyrics; me

If I'm a bad person, you don't like me Well, I guess I'll make my own way The longer that he sat there, staring at his schoolwork and doing nothing else with himself, the more irritated Talan became. He wasn't a very pleasant person in the first place, but when something was grating on his nerves it made him all the more foul in his moods. There were very few people that he could actually deal with for any length of time and right now he was rather wishing that some of them around. Granted, most of them were older and worked for the Ministry, but there were a few of his housemates that he could tolerate to some degree. However, even most of his housemates tended to be people he could only just stand. It seemed to Talan that many of them were rather, well, loose. They partied too often for his tastes or lacked the motivation to push ahead in life like he did and it drove him absolutely mad. He needed to be surrounded by people with goals like himself, which unfortunately there were few of.
Scratching a few more words down on the paper in front of him, Talan's face drew up into a small scowl before he erased what he had written once more. He had to be in a particular mood for some classes work to be done and at the moment he just wasn't in the mood for it. Perhaps later he would be in a better mindframe for working, but right now he was looking to just chill. Well, as chill as Talan could ever be, at any rate. He wasn't the kind of person that genuinely knew how to relax at any point, so his version of chill would likely be completely different from that of a normal person. For Talan, it would likely consist of doing something for his prefect duties or perhaps doing something for the Death Pack. Though he had nothing to do with the leadership positions for it, he was generally always offering up ideas on how to further their means whenever possible. He believed in their goals and if he could assist at some point, he was happy to.
Picking his quill back up, Talan went to scratch down a few last words before he heard a particularly loud crash behind him. The commons room had been fairly quiet up to that point, so the noise brought Talan's attention behind him with a scowl. There were quiet hours for a reason, but clearly someone wasn't interested in paying attention. Already bored of his schoolwork, Talan decided to take it upon himself to address the issue of the noise. Rising up from his seat, he rounded about to find Aleksandra Angeles crashing into various furniture. "Alek, come with me and for Merlin's sake, pick up the candelabra," he said, his voice at a low growl as he walked over towards her. Technically, it had probably been an accident and there was no real reason to get her into any amount of trouble for it, but it wasn't like any of the professors were going to give him any trouble if he wanted to give out a few more detentions. Tapping his foot on the ground, Talan crossed his arms and waited for the younger girl to ready herself to follow him out of the commons. He had nothing against her in particular, but he tended to be much harsher with rules when he was bored and she was the unfortunate person that would have to suffer through that.
