Much to Ephraim's excitement, it had been a busy day. From classes to hanging out with friends, Ephraim hadn't had more than a few moments of rest and that was his favorite kind of day. Ephraim liked to be busy, no matter what it was with, especially when he was around other people. Now that his day was done, Ephraim was heading down to the Great Hall to grab dinner. A lot of people didn't like the atmosphere of it and ate at less crowded times, but Ephraim preferred to have people and so he ate at the designated dinner hours every day. It was pretty crowded when he arrived, so he was hopeful that he would have plenty of company.
Much like every other day, Ephraim sat in the same spot he had been sitting at for the last seven years. Even if no one said it, it had come to be known as his spot at the table. There wasn't anyone around it yet, but it was still early and there was plenty of time for someone to show up. Ephraim ended up eating with a different group every night, just about, so he was always eager to see what came of it. Ephraim quickly piled food onto his plate when he sat down, giving a friendly smile to those around him as he did so. Even if no one was there to talk to yet, that didn't mean he couldn't still be friendly to everyone else. Taking a bite from the potatoes on his plate, Ephraim gave a satisfied sigh and settled himself in for a pleasant evening meal.

viktoria's day, like any other, had been full of classes and hanging out with her group of friends. tristan was nowhere to be found, she just assumed that he was avoiding her, like always. they weren't together, it just bothered her. she guessed that he was done with her and would move on, he was a player, she knew it when she started being around him. she thought that she would be able to change him, but she wasn't able to. now, she was just going to be marrying talan in four or five years without anyone in the way of it all, just like how her step mother liked it.
viktoria liked being around people, so she always went to the great hall for dinner, unlike her sister who was probably in her room doing whatever she did. vik didn't understand nika at all, she was basically like a complete different human being, maybe even a different species. viktoria walked over and saw ephraim, a boy in her year. she didn't really know much about him, but he was on the quidditch team, the captain actually. she sat across from her, putting food on her plate. she usually ate more than enough during dinner, but she had just finished a short shift at work and had eaten a lot of sweets, so she wasn't all that hungry. "hi." she looked at ephraim, "ready to beat slytherin tomorrow?" she smiled, always a good way to start a conversation; talk about quidditch.

As Ephraim sat down eating, he idly watched the rest of the people in the room. Even if he had no one to talk to yet, everyone else was still interesting to observe. People were always fascinating to Ephraim, so he enjoyed it. He would have enjoyed talking to someone more, but he knew someone would come eventually. Like he predicted, it didn't take too long before someone else came up to sit across from him at the table. He knew Viktoria was in his house, but he hadn't talked to her much over the last seven years. She was big into Quidditch, which Ephraim didn't have anything to do with. He went to games sometimes, but he didn't play the sport itself. His half-brother, Dean, had more to do with that.
Greeting Viktoria with a smile, Ephraim put his food down so that they could talk. "I didn't know the game was tomorrow, but I'm sure you guys will do well," he replied with a nod. Both teams were good and it would probably be a close match, but he hoped his house's team would end up winning in the end. "You're the seeker, right?" he asked, not entirely sure. He thought both of the Krum sisters were seekers, but he could have been wrong. He paid more attention to social things than to things like Quidditch.
