In just a few short hours, Erinn Thomas would no longer be Erinn Thomas, but Erinn Krum. After four years together, her relationship with Nika was finally taking that next step. Granted, Erinn would have gone through with the wedding much earlier if she could have, but they were still young and their parents didn’t approve. Really, there were a lot of reasons that had been holding their relationship back, but they hadn’t let it stop them. It hadn’t been an easy journey, but they had stuck through it and stayed together with it all and Erinn was absolutely thrilled. However, she was also absolutely terrified.
“Ellie, fucking get back here, my hair is a mess and my dress is missing and I haven’t eaten and I’m pretty sure I have to pee and I don’t know what the fuck-“ Erinn started to complain, listing off a large list of things that were already going terribly wrong. Before she could continue, however, Ellie jabbed her in the stomach with her elbow as she walked by, the wedding dress in her hand.
“Calm down, princess. I’ve got this,” Ellie replied, rolling her eyes. That was probably the hundredth time that day that she had reassured Erinn that everything would turn out just fine. As the Maid of Honor, Ellie was tasked with making sure Erinn didn’t freak out too much. Unfortunately, that was an impossible task for just about anyone, even Ellie.
“Dress, good job, Ell. I’m going to need that later, I think,” Erinn nodded, registering the fact that Ellie had the dress in hand, but making absolutely no sense with what she was saying. Ellie simply responded with a patient nod before grabbing Erinn’s waist and ushering her to a seat.
“You will. Now, you sit here, I’m going to go find someone to fix up your hair,” Ellie replied with a rather sympathetic smile. To be honest, Erinn looked a bit of a mess and it would probably take the entire next few hours to get her ready, considering how difficult of a person she could be. Rushing out of the room and leaving Erinn there to fend for herself, Ellie went to find someone else that could deal with Erinn for at least just a little while. She needed a break.
Spinning around in the chair that Ellie had sat her in, Erinn couldn’t help but feel increasingly more nervous about the day. She knew that she loved Nika. Honestly, she had known that since back in their fifth year at school, so there was no doubt in her mind that she wanted to marry Nika. At the same time, however, it was a bit scary. This was one of those moments that really and truly would change her life and there would be no turning back from it. She loved Nika, though, so it was worth it. No matter what hardships it would bring, Erinn wanted this for them.
The door opened once again as someone else came into the room. Looking up, Erinn frowned slightly when she saw that it wasn’t Ellie coming back, but her twin. She and Erika had been on pretty rough terms for a few years, since Erika hadn’t at all approved of her relationship with Nika. In fact, she had been completely against the idea of Erinn being a lesbian and pretty much hadn’t talked to her for a good year. However, she had started to come around when she realized that nothing was going to change it. Erinn was going to be with Nika and nothing was going to come between them.
“Hey, Rinny,” Erika said with a soft smile on her face. “Are you doing alright?”
“I’m alright, yeah. Just…ready for it to happen,” Erinn nodded, a slightly awkward tension developing between the two of them. She loved her twin, really she did, but she hadn’t completely forgiven the other girl for the time that she had fought against her relationship with Nika. Even now, she was pretty sure that Erika didn’t entirely approve.
Erika nodded a bit, the conversation trailing off as she walked in the room further. Moving about, she found a brush and sat down in the seat next to Erinn. Wordlessly, Erinn spun the chair so her back was towards her twin, letting Erika start on her hair. It was something that they had always done as kids, so it felt nice. Even if they weren’t completely on the best of terms, it was a nice moment.
“I’m really happy for you, Rinny. I...even if I didn’t like it much back then, she makes you happy,” Erika said, broaching the subject that neither of them had wanted to discuss.
