audrey got really annoyed at people who tried to talk louder for her or talked extra slow for her. she's been deaf since she was little; she knew how to read people's lips and how to understand people who didn't use sign. she could read lips going really fast and really slow. she wasn't an idiot, she knew how to read lips. but apparently other people didn't understand that. she especially hated her fellow slytherins that did that and did it on purpose. that's just how they were and they knew they were getting on her absolute nerves. sometimes audrey just wanted to take her hearing aids out and just block everything out. with her heating aids she could hear some noises, but not many. she couldn't hear people, barley or at all.
audrey rolled her eyes for no apparent reason and played her game boy. the game boy shouldn't be working at hogwarts but it did. she put a spell on it so that it would work. audrey was good with spells. she was currently playing pokemon, the older version. nobody was really around, some poeple were still getting back from the holidays. she didn't visit her parents during the break, she stayed at hogwarts but her sister went and visited them. they always liked her sister more than they liked her. probably because audrey was their weird child who's deaf, something that they never wanted to happen. but she got sick when she was only a week or two old and they couldn't do anything. audrey sat on a bench in the transfiguration courtyard and heard someone coming up behind her. it was raphael longbottom. "hey raphael." she spoke without even looking up from her game boy.

being a hufflepuff raphael longbottom was known for being not only a gamer, a could-of-been claw, but also for being quite friendly. but what the key part here is, gamer. no matter what game he played he always finished, he always tried to figure out the codes, he always tried to find out the short-cuts all on his own. it did not matter what sort of game it was, raph found them all to be easy and entertaining. but being a half-blood, many of his friends were unaware of the games he spoke of making him somewhat of an outcast. that was until he met audrey.
a sweet and kind slytherin. yes, that's right. a sweet and kind slytherin. she was very unlike most slytherins who usually taunted and bullied raphael. it did not matter that she was deaf, as long as she was kind and friendly he was going to be her friend. but what added to their friendship was their interest in games as well as cartoons and animes. but that friendship turned into a crush, at least for raphael it did but he kept it to himself.
as he began walking about campus, he felt rather lonely. sure he said hello to various of people, but no one he really wanted to have a full on conversation with. however when he entered the transfiguration courtyard he noticed a certain brunette slytherin. grinning brightly he walked over, but before saying anything she said greeted him first. laughing softly he stated with excitement, wow, pokemon! love that game. how far are you? though she was deaf, it did not encourage raphael to speak louder or slower. he just spoke in his normal tone at at his normal pace.

she had seen him in the reflection on her gameboy. she of course hadn't heard footsteps. her hearing aids really didn't do anything for her hearing, it just gives her a sense of the sounds around her. she didn't always have a hearing aid. she didn't have one up until a month or so before hogwarts when she was eleven. she wanted to be able to hear at least a little bit and that's what it did for her. it gave her a sense of what the noises around her are like. she really wanted to get the cochlear implant, which makes her hear completely but her mother didn't want her to have the surgery until she was completely ready, which she wasn't. and now five years later, she's still not ready to have surgery, she would rather stay the way she is and could care less about what other people think.
audrey paused the game and turned towards raphael and looked at him, in case he said anything. she couldn't tell what the person was saying if she wasn't watching their lips. "oh, i just started." her speech was awful, she was just happy that she couldn't hear herself speak for now. "i've played it at least five times since i woke up this morning." audrey's life was video games and comic books. without being a gamer and a complete nerd she would just be 'some deaf girl'.
the relationship she had with raphael is just a friendly one. their wasn't much feelings other than being friends. he's actually one of the few people she trusts and talks to. audrey has always had major trust issues when it comes to friends and boys. she's had people talk behind her back about her and just drop her as a friend, which has hurt her a lot over the years. audrey's always had this crush on him ever since he gained her trust a year ago. they had a lot in common, more than other people at school. he loved video games just like she did. she didn't meet many people who knew about the muggle comic books and video games. she's a pureblood but knew about muggle things and raphael has introduced her to a lot more since they met. audrey put the game boy on the bench next to her. "so what are you doing around today? i thought that you would still be at home."

raphael had returned home for a couple of days, but decided he needed to come back to school. he needed to focus on his school-work as well as his internship. not to say that he was unable to focus at home. actually that was exactly his problem. there were too many things that distracted him from various games, to his laptop, to his comics. but here, he had limited forms of distractions.
ah, i miss the original pokemon. i decided to come back, school work and my internship. i can't afford to get behind on either one and home has too many distractions, raphael said in a rather offhanded manner. it did upset him, a bit, that he would not be able to spend the entire vacation time with them, but he would have plenty after he graduated. however for now, school and his work meant the world to him.
but what else drew him back to hogwarts were the friends who stayed behind on campus. sure he would be able to see them once vacation time was over, but this was his last year at hogwarts. he wanted and intended on spending as much time as he could with his friends before he graduated.
