Everything about her newly found relationship with Peyton was just plain weird to Megan. Never before had she put forth any sort of effort into a relationship, so having to put aside all of her prior habits to make things work required quite a bit of effort on her part. However, she was pretty sure that it was worth it. Despite years of denying the fact that she harbored any sort of deep feelings towards Peyton, that wasn't at all the case. For whatever reason, Peyton was it for her. It felt, well, right. As cheesy as that sounded to Megan and as cross as she was to admit it, that was how it was. So, even though she frequently messed up at the whole "relationship" thing, she was trying and honestly, she was pretty sure that Peyton was the only person that she could ever see herself trying for. If things didn't work out with Peyton, than Megan was confident it wouldn't work out with anyone else either.
In the past, Megan had never been the type of girl that went out on dates. In fact, she had quite adamantly avoided going on anything that could be considered a date until this thing with Peyton had started up. In fact, this quite possibly could be considered something of a first date for Megan. As cool and collected as she appeared on the outside, she was a ball of nerves on the inside as she headed downstairs to the commons room. Technically, she should already have been in there, but Megan was rarely in there anymore, until it was time to head to sleep. Being there was too much of a hassle unless she was curled up in bed with Peyton. It was much too early for that, though, so Megan had been off keeping herself busy elsewhere.
Opening up the door to the commons room, Megan entered in with a slight scowl when she realized that there were still other people up and about. Most of them were older students that she knew, so she gave them a slight nod of recognition before crossing her arms in front of her and leaning up against the wall near the exit. The sooner they got out of there, the better. After seven years of dealing with most of these people, Megan was more than ready to be done with them for awhile. She didn't imagine that it would take Peyton too long, though she did know that the other girl spent far more time primping in the mirror before leaving the room than she did herself. so there was no telling how long it would be before the other girl arrived.

Peyton had never had a girlfriend before, so it was a new experience, but she didn't feel any different than she used to. The relationship that she had always had with Megan was close enough to dating, but they had never put a label on it before. There were a few things that were different between them, yes, but it was almost the same for Peyton, at least. She had always known how she felt about Megan, but she had let Megan come around to the realization of her feelings on her own, rather than pushing her. She had been willing to settle for what she could get before, but now that Megan was entirely hers, she would be hard pressed to let the girl go.
There was unfortunately the matter of Megan being hesitent about everything, though. Peyton hated to admit it, but Megan was still a work in progress when it came to being in a relationship. There were things about it that she was just not good at. Peyton was the same way, but she thought that she was at least a bit better than Megan was. Megan had agreed to a date, at least, so Peyton was busy running around the room and getting herself ready to go out. She knew Megan probably wouldn't care what she was wearing, but Peyton always cared about how she was dressed. It took a bit longer than expected to get ready, but as soon as she was done, she left her room and walked out into the commons.
When entering the commons room, Peyton's attention was instantly consumed by Megan. The other girl was over in the corner, clearly unimpressed with their housemates, and waiting with her arms folded in front of her. Sauntering over to her with a smirk on her face, Peyton brought her hands up to Megan's arms, uncrossing them and pulling them away from her body. "Don't look so grumpy. Come on, [i[cupcake,"
[/i] Peyton said, tugging at Megan's arm. She didn't want to let the girl's arm go, so she slid her hand down it until it was at her hand, lacing them together. She knew Megan would probably object, but she didn't care. If she was going to take her girlfriend out on a date of sorts, she was going to hold her hand. [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Resting her head back against the wall, Megan was ready to just get out of there. The more time that she spent around the castle, the less that she wanted to be there. School had never been her thing and sometimes she was pretty sure that Peyton was the only reason that she'd stayed through the seven years. Certainly, she was the only reason that Megan was in the commons room at the moment, waiting about with a scowl. As Megan had expected, it took a few minutes before Peyton showed up. As much as she wanted to complain about the delay, it was rather impossible to do so when Peyton looked like she did. Megan probably wouldn't ever tell the girl, but she loved that Peyton put so much time and effort into getting ready, since she always came out looking absolutely stunning.
Though she protested slightly when Peyton tugged her arms out of their position, Megan had a slight smile on her face when she saw the girl. "I'm not grumpy. You just take too long to get ready," she responded, crinkling her nose up at Peyton's use of the term "cupcake." Letting Peyton pull her arm a bit as they left from the commons, a look of uncertainty crossed her face when the other girl linked their hands together. Megan wasn't the type of person to hold hands, it just wasn't her. She could be affectionate if she wanted to be, but that was something she never did. However, things were different and she knew that, so she didn't pull her hand away from Peyton's, as weird as it was to her. "You look good, though," she added, once they were out of the commons. It was easier to act like a girlfriend to Peyton when no one else was around to see it.
Tugging Peyton's arm back slightly, Megan slid one hand around the other girl's waist before firmly planting a quick kiss on her lips. "Much better," she commented with a smirk before turning on her heel and heading back out of the castle. Fortunately, the Slytherin dorms were fairly close to the exit of the castle and they were out on the grounds pretty quickly. It was already dark out, which made it a nice time to be out and about on the grounds, with the stars overhead. Megan wasn't sure where Peyton had planned on taking them, so she let the other girl take the lead. "So, uh, how have you been or whatever?" Megan asked, not sure what she was supposed to say. Things weren't awkward, exactly, but she felt a bit of pressure to do things right with Peyton and that threw her off quite a bit.
