Max stared down at the parchment before him, not really seeing the words written across the page, but staring at it all the same. History of Magic. Max hated the subject with a passion. It was his least favourite class, always had been, always would be. What did he care about what happened way back when? The past was the past for a reason and having to do study it was a complete and utter bore. Not to mention a waste of his time. To say that he couldn't wait to get into his Sixth year so he could drop the subject was a bit of an understatement.
Sat towards the back of a library in a shadowed corner, so that no one would disturb him, Max was drumming his fingers across the hardwood surface of the table. His other hand was supporting his head, which was rested at an angle, his elbow propped on the table. Merlin he was bored. And not at all motivated to get on with his homework. So far he'd managed to add the date, title and one sentence about how the first goblin rebellion had affected the wizarding world in the late 1800's. The thought of having to write more had him wanting to bang his head against the desk. As much as he tried, he couldn't bring himself to lift the quill and carry on with his ten page essay. Ugh, he really hated Professor Binns. Why they hadn't gotten rid of him yet was a mystery.
With a sigh, Max shoved the parchment across the desk and leaned down to grab his bag from the floor. He opened it and picked out a book, A Tale of Two Cities, flicked to the page he'd marked, and picked up where he'd left off. A good Charles Dickens novel might help clear and refresh his mind. If not then he was sure there was someone's notes he could steal to get his homework done. A crooked smile pulled at his lips, he'd probably end up doing that after all.
