It has been one month since the battle with Victoria and her army of newborns and Bella Swan, the Cullens and the Quileute wolf pack have come out of it hoping to have a break from all of the chaos that has been a dominant factor in all of their lives for the last few years. However, life has not settled down the way that they had hoped and everyone is experiencing feelings of uneasiness for different reasons.
After convincing the Volturi to keep Bree Tanner alive and taking full responsibility for her, the Cullens are working day and night to try and get her through the newborn stage of her new life. The task, however, is proving to be much more difficult than they had originally anticipated. Meanwhile, the Volturi are keeping tabs on the Cullens to make sure that they will follow through with their promise to change Bella by sending numerous spies to Forks. Upon learning the origins of the spies, the Quileute pack is put to work trying to defend their territory. However, there is one problem: the Quileutes know nothing about the Volturi and what they’re capable of, and must confide in the Cullens to gain that knowledge. In the midst of all this, Bella finds herself torn between her deep love for Edward and her newly discovered love for Jacob—who has developed a new secret and love of his own and is still having a hard time accepting that Bella and Edward are engaged.
New relationships will form, loyalty will be put to the test, and the ageless struggle between werewolf and vampire may be forgotten. Will Bree prove to be too much of a liability? And what will happen when the Volturi spies finally reach Forks? Only time will tell, and some may see their last sunrise.
