I'd rather run the other way than stay and see The smoke and who's still standing when it clears Bad news had become something Erinn just expected out of her day by that point. It seemed like just as soon as she started to sort of recover from one trauma, life decided that it wasn't enough and threw something else at her. But this time, it had gone too far. Mess up her relationship, kidnap her, whatever, but the fact that life had the audacity to mess with her sister was just too much. Even though Erinn didn't quite say it ever, she adored Frankie. Through all the shit she'd been putting her family through and all the fighting they'd had going on, in the end Frankie was still the one that had been there for her. And now she was locked in the Hospital Wing and Erinn had absolutely no idea what was going on. The only thing she did know was that it was bad and that, quite possibly, it was her fault. Maybe it was the dirty dishes she'd left in the sink that had sent Frankie into a stressful early labor, or maybe it was the pile of clothes on the floor of the guest room. Whatever it was, Erinn felt entirely at fault.
Since the message from Honey, everything had been a complete blur for Erinn. She'd slumped into the couch, completely immobile for a time, sitting and waiting for something to happen. It didn't take long for someone to come get her, apparating her back to the castle to be there with her family. Not exactly the ideal situation, but Erinn knew that she needed to be there, no matter what the outcome of the events was. When she arrived, most everyone else in the immediate family was there, which was slightly awkward. It had been ages since she'd spoken with her parents, or any of her siblings to be honest. However, that was out of their minds. Everyone was much more worried about what was going on with Frankie and that was exactly the way it should have been.
Their parents were frantically speaking with the Healers, attempting to find some sort of news as to how Frankie was and what was happening behind the closed doors, but no one seemed ti be giving them anything. Her siblings were scattered around the corridor in groups, quiet and mumbling nervously when spoken too. No one was in their usual spirits. There were a few other people around, mostly close friends and the like, but no one that Erinn felt like talking to. She had brushed off her family, settling down in a small alcove off of the hallway to wait by herself. It was easier that way. She didn't want to see or talk to anyone that wasn't Frankie right then. No one else was really all that important at the time. Though, she expected that sitting there on her own would only last so long before someone else showed up in an attempt to pass on some comforting words or what have you. Erinn wasn't having it.
In all honesty, Erinn rather felt like no one could really comfort her at the moment. Dean had tried in the brief message they'd had, but it just made it worse and now she quite regretted that she had told him about it all. At least if she hadn't mentioned it than he wouldn't be on his way down and that would be one less person she'd have to deal with at the moment. Though, considering the gravity of the situation, it was really only a matter of time before word got out and everyone around the school heard about it and came to poke around and gather some form of gossip to pass on to their peers. Definitely not something Erinn was looking forward to. Being back on campus was bad enough, but having to answer questions and possibly run into people that she didn't want to run into just made it all the more insufferable.

Thoughts read unspoken forever and now The pieces of memories fall to the ground
Dean tried his hardest to pay attention in Divination, he really did. But it was exceptionally hot in the classroom that afternoon, and they were once again studying tea leaves. A big yawn to him, especially when he already knew that he’d lead a pretty normal life. Thankfully he didn’t have any classes with the Potters, as no one could tell what their role would be in the new war. So for the moment, Dean was perfectly content with just admiring the view he received every time he set foot in the tower. Unfortunately for the Quidditch captain, who would rather prefer being on the pitch then being stuck in a stuffy classroom, he was quite bored, and decided to message his youngest cousin. The last Dean heard of the girl, she was moving in with Frankie. Why not give the squirt a shout out, just to make sure she was doing alright.
Technically, the seventh year wasn’t supposed to be using his messenger during class, but he was bored, and he doubted the professor would get too terribly upset with him. Especially since she loved Quidditch, and Dean knew all the right topics to cover with her. With the message sent, the boy slipped back into his unfocused daze, not caring much about what was going on around him. Almost immediately, he felt his pocket smiling, satisfied that Erinn was still talking to him. Especially when the first words from Erinn were why he wasn’t at the hospital, leaving the boy with excitement. The first thought that came to mind was Frankie went into labor, a bit early, and the world was blessed with his two little cousins. However, after inquiring more information from the girl, Dean found that while Frankie did go into an early labor, things were not looking good for the girl. The twins passed away, and Frankie’s life was in jeopardy. After trying to console Erinn quickly, Dean quietly packed up his things.
Without saying anything, Dean slipped out of the room, receiving curious looks from his peers. He probably should have said sad something to the professor, but this was an emergency, and Dean was sure the headmaster would clear it up later. The most important thing at the moment was getting to the hospital wing, while attempting to remain calm. As the eldest cousin, Dean felt a great deal of responsibility to keep his family safe, and if Frankie wasn’t doing well, then he obviously wasn’t doing his best. Upon reaching the wing, Dean saw the family was there, with looks of concern on their faces. Apparently, nobody knew what was going on, and the nurses weren’t letting his aunt and uncle inside to see their daughter. After saying his quick and formal hellos to the family, Dean went off to search for his younger cousin. He knew she was feeling bad at the moment, considering she believed this was entirely her fault.
Searching the hallway, Dean found Erinn hiding out in an alcove not too far from the room that held Frankie. He didn’t say anything to announce his arrival, but rather slumped to the floor so he was sitting next to her. Pulling his knees up and resting his arms around them, Dean didn’t know that he could say anything to comfort his cousin. There was a very real possibility that his family could face the death of a loved one, after already losing the two precious additions that everyone was looking forward too. And no words right now would be able to just cover up that fact. So he just remained silent. After a few moments of just sitting, Dean looked over at Erinn, and couldn’t help but notice the display of sadness and guilt upon her face. He placed a comforting arm around her shoulders, and pulled her a little closer. It was the only thing he knew to do, and to show her that he was there if she needed him. Dean wanted answers as to what was happening in that room, but the only thing they could do was just sit and wait.

spin me around again and rub my eyes this can't be happening
There weren't words to describe the heartache Charlie felt right now. It ached for her deceased niece and nephew who she hadn't had the chance to meet, for Frankie and her family and for her brother, Felix. Of course if her heart felt so wretched then Charlie hated to think how Felix and Frankie were feeling at that moment. The thought of her brother suffering in pain only made the pain in her chest tighten.
The corridor was eerily silent when she pushed through the large wooden doors that lead to the hospital wing. A number of people were scattered about further down and Charlie wondered if Felix was one of them; if he'd shown up yet, If he'd manage to show up at all. Quietly closing the door behind her, Charlie shuffled down the corridor, her hands shoved into the pockets of her jacket. Felix wasn't here yet, just the immediate members of Frankie's family; her siblings and parents and a few other people she thought might be friends. Each and every one of their faces were glum and drawn. The older couple, Frankie's parents, looked distraught. Charlie could tell the mother had been crying.
A pang echoed around her chest again and Charlie ducked her head, unable to look at her grieving parents any longer. Had Frankie passed away too? Charlie hoped not, the loss of Frankie's two unborn children was more than enough pain to bare for their families, the Thomas clan didn't deserve to lose their daughter too. But if Frankie had passed away then she doubted everyone would be stood around, waiting outside the closed hospital wing door.
With a slow sigh, Charlie walked a little ways away from the others, who were all stood in groups of two's and three's, whispering. As much as she wanted to share her condolences with the Thomas family, she couldn't. She couldn't bring herself to do it, at least not until they knew what was happening with Frankie. Right now didn't seem like a good time to be saying anything. Leaning back against the wall, Charlie folded her arms across the chest and waited for her brother to arrive.

And I just can't contain This feeling that remains

When Felix heard the news that he was going to be a father, he had been downright terrified at the consequences. He was convinced it was a huge mistake and that the whole situation was going to ruin his life. But over the course of the last few months, all that had changed. He'd come to terms with the idea and had even come to really believe that it could be a good thing. He'd always wanted kids, after all. It wasn't the most ideal situation, of course, but he was okay with it. And now they were gone. Of all the bad things that could have happened with all that was going on, this was pretty much the last thing he would have expected. To be honest, it was all such a shock that Felix didn't even know what to do about the situation. All he knew was that he needed to get down to the Hospital Wing to see what he could do. If there even was something that he could do.
Throwing on a new shirt, Felix quickly started down the stairs to meet up with Charlie. Though he probably should have had something on his mind, it had gone completely blank. He wasn't sure what to feel or what to do and he just wanted someone to tell him exactly what was happening. At the very least, even if the kids were gone, there was still a chance that Frankie would be okay and if Felix could help, than he would. It would take his mind off things and that was exactly what he needed. Really, if he wasn't worried about checking on Frankie, he probably would have been out on the Quidditch Pitch. That was where he could just let loose any feelings that he had and where he could come to terms with what was happening, but he couldn't just bail out on Frankie. Even if he couldn't see her, at least she should know that he was there for her.
As he padded down the stairs into the third floor, Felix slowed his pace as much as possible. The longer he could avoid being there, the longer he could pretend that it wasn't actually happening. But it was and he was right in the middle of it. When he entered into the hallway outside of the hospital wing, Felix's face fell into an even deeper frown when he saw the faces of everyone there. The situation wasn't good, that much was clear, but it didn't seem like anyone was being let in to see Frankie yet. That clearly wasn't a good sign. He gave a quick nod to Erinn and Dean as he passed by, not wanting to really talk to anyone at the moment. There were a few people whispering here and there and the wracking sobs of Frankie's mother, but for the most part it was dead silent. Felix would have felt terribly awkward if he broke the mood with some sort of conversation.
Finally spotting Charlie off to the side a bit, Felix made his way over towards her and leaned up next to the wall. "Hey, uh, thanks for coming kiddo," he mumbled, speaking softly. The fact that Charlie was there was definitely a relief for Felix, since he at least knew that even if things were bad, he still had someone there for him. His family meant the world to him and having Charlie there was the best thing for him right now. "Has there been any more news?" he asked, looking up hopefully. The odds that anything major had happened in the few minutes it had taken him to get down there was unlikely, but it was the only thing he could really ask at the moment. Well, the only thing that really mattered, anyways.

I'd rather run the other way than stay and see The smoke and who's still standing when it clears By the time Dean showed up, Erinn had more or less closed off to the world and was barely able to register the fact that he was there. If he hadn't moved to put his arm around her, she probably wouldn't have made any indication that she was aware of his presence at all. The only thing that really had her attention was the door to the hospital wing. It hadn't opened in hours and she had no reason to believe that it would open anytime soon, but she couldn't help but continue looking over expectantly, as if at any moment Frankie would walk out of the room and let everyone know it was all some sort of joke. She was fine, the twins were fine, there was no reason to worry. But what were the odds of that. If nothing else seemed to want to go right, why would something as important as this actually bother to work out for once. It wouldn't. Erinn was at least resigned to that disheartening fact.
More or less without realizing it, Erinn gravitated closer to Dean, lightly resting her head on his shoulder. It was slightly more comforting than sitting there with her head against the cold, stone walls of the castle, though it was hardly enough to make the situation better. It was one of those moments where saying something would just make it worse. Nothing that anyone could say at the moment could really do any good. Not to mention, Erinn rather felt that if she even tried to talk, nothing sensible would come out anyways. Sitting there silently was hard enough as it was, but trying to throw anything else into the mix would go terribly wrong. She honestly just needed some sort of distraction to take her mind off of everything that was happening, but there wasn't much she could think of that would provide a serious enough distraction given the gravity of the situation.
The messenger in her pocket went off again, more than likely another concerned "friend" or what have you. Erinn didn't want to hear it. She'd spoken to Lily and Dean and that, for the time being, was more than enough for her. Apparently just letting her sit there and be mopey and concerned wasn't something they were going to let her do. Jerks. With a slightly irritated grumble, Erinn tossed her messenger off to the side and rose from where she was sitting. She couldn't seriously be expected to just sit there, right? Someone, somewhere had to know what was actually going on and she had to find them. That or break down the door to get in there herself. She was pretty confident in the fact that she could pull off the crazy card, so it wasn't like it would be too difficult to get them to believe she was driven mad with the grief and what not.
Subtly inching her way over towards the doorway, Erinn made sure that no one was paying attention to her; a task which was unfortunately difficult, given the fact that the rest of their siblings, along with just about everyone else was there. However, before she could get anywhere near the door to the Hospital Wing, one of the nurse's attendees scurried out, quickly closing and locking the door behind her. Her face was ashen and she looked downright terrified, which only served to worry Erinn more. Starting forward towards the nurse, Erinn cursed lightly under her breath when the woman turned away and took off down the hall. Still no news. Erinn had no chance of trusting in the "no news is good news" policy at the moment. At that point, any news would be better than this.

Nika shut the screen of her laptop and sat up on her bed. Lazily, she stretched her arm to reach her wand. After the struggle, which wouldn’t even be necessary if she had just gotten up to get it, she tapped it on the plastic Tupperware of food that her mom had brought her, reheating it. She ran a brush through her hair and slid into a pair of shoes before grabbing the container and heading out of the dormitory. Fuck. She forgot the pillow. Turning on her heel, she strutted back into the dorm room and grabbed her pillow off of her bed, tucking it under her arm as she walked out.
This whole situation was kind of confusing for Nika. Firstly, she wanted to know what was happening with Frankie that had caused the whole family to come visit. Was there some kind of pregnancy complication, or something like that? Nika has always been a little skeeved out by childbirth. It was kind of gross. The second thing she wanted to know was with the whole ‘I don’t need just a friend right now’ thing. Her parents obviously still didn’t know about them, but was she about to come out and tell them? Would they take it well? Was this the appropriate time for this? Worries started to flutter through Nika’s mind as she ascended the stairs. No matter what her family thought of it, she was there because of Erinn and no one else really mattered.
Nika walked down the corridor toward the Hospital Wing, a small group of people sat on the floor with their backs pushed up against the stone walls. It was quite a depressing sight to see, if you had to ask her. The brunette continued walking and stopped in front of Dean, looking around. “Where’s Erinn?” she asked, a bit confused. If this was one of her little childish pranks to make her get out of bed, she would surely return the favor sometime without hesitation.

Saving Frankie had not been a selfless act. At all. In fact, saving Frankie had been all about Roy, just like everything else in his life was. After she had gotten rid of him after she had almost been expelled, Roy had been more determined than ever to get Frankie back in his life. Not so much because he had any sort of strong feelings for her, but mostly just because she was so deeply against it and Roy liked a challenge. Roy liked a challenge so much that he had done something that probably would come back to haunt him- he had turned Frankie into a vampire. It was, in his humble opinion, a great stroke of fate that she had fallen into a bad situation right in the middle of his own classroom. What other choice did he have? It would have been a real dick move if he just stood by and let her die when he himself had the power to save her. Not to mention, it put her into his eternal debt.
That eternal debt had been the only thing on his mind when he had gone through with it and saved her. Now he was stuck with her. Technically, that should have been a good thing. Roy should have been thrilled by the opportunity to have Frankie at his mercy for the rest of her existence, but he wasn't. Now that the reality of the situation was setting in, he realized that she wasn't going to be the same person at all. She would likely be a blood-crazed, psychotic, vampire with absolutely no interest in much else. At least, for awhile anyways. Someone would have to teach her how to live with it. That someone would be Roy. Roy was not happy. He was fine with the fact that Frankie owed him big time, but having to babysit her throughout her transition period was not something he had accounted for when making his decision. Had he thought about that, it may very well have gone quite differently.
Gathering up a few things that he thought might help the situation over in the Hospital Wing, whatever that situation may have been, Roy started to stroll over towards the third floor. Honestly, he wasn't very excited to have to deal with it, so he had no problem taking his time. It wasn't like the Hospital Wing couldn't deal with the situation on their own. Well, at least he rather hoped that they could handle it while he stepped out for a bit. If not, what was a few healers lost. As long as it wasn't Chris, since she was hot. The others were rather old and not nearly as much fun, so Roy didn't particularly care about them. Heartless? Absolutely. Did he give a fuck? Absolutely not. Roy had pretty much always been about the same as he was now and he saw no reason to change. It was working quite fantastically for him, after all.
Walking through the group of what appeared to be distressed family members was a bit awkward. They had no idea what was going on, but he did, and he couldn't very well tell them. Slipping past them, Roy gave them a brief, but cheerful, nod and quickly unlocked the door to the room that held Frankie. Slim chance the family would take well to that one, but whatever. They'd get over it. After all, he was the hero that saved their precious Frankie's life or something like that. Hell, they should be praising him for his efforts. Roy put that thought to the back of his mind, for later use. You never knew when you might need something and it was good to know that they'd likely be indebted to him as well. Looking over at the scene in front of him, Roy leaned back against the wall in a more comfortable position. "How's she doing?" he asked, though he could very well see for himself.

Thoughts read unspoken forever and now The pieces of memories fall to the ground
There was nothing more that Dean could do other than just sitting on the floor and staring straight ahead. He had the feeling that only good news could comfort his little cousin at the moment, and for the first time in his life, Dean couldn’t offer assistance. Words couldn’t soothe the situation, especially when no one knew what was going on, and the only thing Dean could focus on was the immense sadness rippling through the air. Dean watched the faces of his uncle, aunt, and cousins, noticing that each time a nurse went in and out of Frankie’s room, the depression on their faces deepened. With the arrival of Charlie and Felix, Dean could only feel for the guy. Sure, they hadn’t always been friendly, but Felix just lost his children. Even serious hatred could be put aside in the mist of disaster.
When Erinn shuffled closer as Dean placed a comforting arm around her, he could tell that she was trying so hard to maintain her composure. Perhaps they all were. Because if they tried to remain calm, then maybe they could fool themselves into thinking that none of this was happening. A far-fetched idea, but one could only hope for the best. No one wanted to think about potentially losing a cousin, a sister, a daughter. And the fact that they weren’t getting any answers on Frankie’s condition didn’t help the matter. It seemed to the seventh year that seconds turned into years, and time eventually stopped all together.
After an hour of more or less silence, listening to the whispered conversations around him, Dean was going to suggest to Erinn that they’d get something to eat. As far as he could tell, nothing was going to change, and she needed her energy. But he watched as she got up without a word, disappearing before he got a chance to talk to her. Unsure what to do or how to handle the situation, Dean messaged Kaiya to inform her of what was going on. As much as Dean tried to be there for Erinn, he needed comforting too. Frankie was his family as well, and they were very much close growing up. He didn’t know what to expect from messaging her, but Kai said she had a solution. Honestly, Dean just wanted this all to go away. He just wanted everything to go back to normal, for the sake of his family. Because he knew that if Frankie did indeed pass, his family would be completely destroyed. And that was something that Dean just couldn’t handle.
Hanging his head low, as a way to shelter himself, Dean allowed himself to slip into a numb state. With Erinn gone, to who knows where, Dean didn’t have pretend like everything was okay. He could wear his emotions on his face just like everyone else. The situation was grave, and the wait definitely wasn’t making him think that everything was okay. Dean had a feeling Frankie’s life was slipping away from her, and that thought scared him. He perked up a bit when a pair of shoes stopped in front of him, and a girl’s voice addressed him. Eagerly glancing up, in hopes that a nurse finally had answers for the Thomas clan, a look of disappointment passed over his face when Dean saw it was just Nika. I don’t know. She disappeared somewhere. He sighed, hoping that Erinn would be okay. I don’t think now would be the best time to seek her out Nika. She’s not taking the news too well. Again, Dean couldn’t help but feel the sadness in the air.

And it took so long just to feel alright Remember how to put back the light in my eyes When Lily heard through the randoms in the Gryffindor commons about what happened in Professor Vaughn’s classroom, she cried for at least thirty minutes. Of course she had to verify the information first, but when several seventh years confirmed the event true, Lily locked herself into her empty dormitory and just cried. While it was true that she and Erinn weren’t exactly close as of late, Lily still loved the family. And in many ways, considering she didn’t have an older sister, Lily looked up to Frankie for sisterly advice. For as long as she could remember, Frankie Thomas had always been there when Lily needed her, just to talk about the stress of being a Potter, and about boys. The typical things that Lils couldn’t do with her two brothers.
Of course one of the first things Lily had to do was make sure Erinn was okay. She knew that if James or Albus were in this situation, Lily would be completely devastated. And even though Erinn claimed she was okay, Lily knew better. So she dried her eyes, and decided it would be best to give her condolences to the Thomas clan. When Lily arrived in the hospital wing, she immediately noticed the eerie silence lingering in the air. While there were several whispered conversations happening here or there, it seemed like no one wanted to speak louder. As if a voice would break the fragile hope embedded deep within those in the hallway. It made Lily even more sad, as the reality sunk in, and the, what she once hoped, rumours were ultimately real.
Unable to face Erinn just yet, Lily stood awkwardly off to the side of the hall. From what she could tell, no one knew what was happening to Frankie, only that she lost the babies. The flutter of nurses in and out of the hospital room didn’t exactly help to calm Lily’s nerves. She silently prayed to every God imaginable that Frankie would make it out alive. Spotting Charlie and Felix across the hall from her, Lily decided it would be best to see how he was doing, before tracking down her best friend. Silently approaching, Lily gave a quick hug to both Charlie and Felix without saying anything. She didn’t think a simply sorry would be sufficient enough to make the problem better. Nor did she want to break the silence settling around the pair of brother and sister. So for the moment, Lily was content with making sure every God out there heard her silent prays to keep Frankie safe from death.

spin me around again and rub my eyes this can't be happening
Time seemed to be ticking by slower than usual. Charlie had checked her watch less than five minutes ago but it felt like thirty minutes had passed since. Not much had changed in the hallway since she had arrived. Frankie's mother was still sobbing and Frankie's siblings were still scattered about looking lost and broken. Although Charlie knew this would be hard for Felix she realized that it must have been ten times harder for the Thomas clan. They had lost their nephew, niece and grandchildren and might also lose their sister and daughter.
When Felix appeared, Charlie felt tears prickle the corners of her eyes. "Hey, of course." she smiled and quickly blinked away the tears. "Ah, no, no. There's been no more news." she whispered and glanced to the room that was holding Frankie. "The nurses, they don't speak." she explained, worrying her lower lip between her teeth. "They just come and go.." With pale faces and looks of fear, Charlie wanted to add, but didn't. Felix would see for himself.
Lily approached then, giving them a hug each but remaining silent. Charlie couldn't blame her, what could or should you say in a situation like this? Remaining silent Charlie gave Lily a smile that didn't reach her eyes and was more forced than anything before she slipped her hand into her brothers, giving it a tight squeeze.

and the tears come streaming down your face when you lose something that you can't replace
Gabby had been sat in class when she'd first heard about the news that Frankie Thomas had gone into an early labor and had lost her children. The first person that had popped into her head was Felix. Where was he? Did he know what had happened? He must have if the news had reached this class room already. The urge to jump up and hunt her best friend down was over whelming but Gabby knew that she'd only land herself in trouble for leaving class early and thought it better to wait the rest of the lesson out before searching for Felix.
Instead, she quietly and discreetly pulled out her messenger, hiding it behind a pile of books, and messaged Felix. He replied instantly, explaining that he was in the hospital wing and that he wanted her to come down. At first Gabby thought that it would be best if she stayed away. She didn't feel that it was her place to be there, not when Frankie's family were there. But if Felix needed her then she'd be there for him. Tucking away her messenger, Gabby hurriedly finished off her work, finishing it before anyone else and when the class was dismissed she was the first one out of the door.
As Gabby had imagined the hallway outside the hospital wing was filled with grieving family members and friends. No one paid her any attention as she made her way down the corridor, they were too busy wrapped up in their own thoughts and whispered conversations. Gabby's heart went out to them, she didn't really know Frankie all that well and wasn't at all close to her but she felt awful for the older girl and what she must be going through at the minute. Felix was stood at the bottom end of the corridor with his sister and Lily Potter and when Gabby finally spotted them she rushed over. "Felix.." dropping her book bag to the floor, the ravenclaw pulled him into a firm hug, "I'm so sorry." she mumbled, giving him one last squeeze before she pulled back.

No news at all. That could be a good thing, right? Maybe they were just rushing about and getting Frankie looking in tip-top shape before they brought the family in to see her or something. Sure, Frankie wasn't the prissy type that needed to look perfect before anyone saw her, but maybe that was what was going on. Or maybe she was dead. Felix much preferred the former. His gaze drifted back towards the door once again as another nurse came out. She didn't look to be in any sort of good mood, which didn't seem like a good thing in the least. In fact, the look on her face was more of a bad thing than anything, if Felix was reading it properly. "Yeah, I mean. You know, maybe they just don't want to disturb Frankie or something. She's probably just sleeping and yanno, the Thomas family are...hard to keep quiet," he suggested with a light shrug. Yeah, since they were such a rowdy bunch at the moment.
Though quite a few people had messaged him, giving him their condolences and making sure he was alright, he had mostly brushed them off. He wasn't really in the mood to be around a ton of people, which was odd for the boy. He did, however, ask Gabby to come down. If anyone was going to be able to make a bleak situation at least a little better, it would be his best friend. So, when he heard footsteps coming down the corridor, he look up anxiously, frowning when Lily Potter came into his line of vision. Not exactly what he was hoping for and he really wasn't even that sure what she was doing there. She wasn't family. Not like Gabby was. He gave her a curt nod before turning his attention back towards the stairway. Another figure came into view, this time an even stranger sight- Roy. Felix had heard the guy had been around when it had all happened, but what he was doing going into the hospital wing when the family wasn't, he had no idea.
Before he could say anything, however, he felt the light squeeze of Charlie's hand and reverted his attention back to the younger girl. The last thing anyone needed was for Felix to go off on the professor right now. Dropping his head a bit, Felix focused his attentions on not getting angry and staying level-headed. Not always an easy task for the boy, but something he had to do, especially in a time like this. Lucky for Felix, it wasn't long after that Gabby showed up. He didn't say much of anything, simply hugging her back at first and resting his chin on the top of her head. "Thanks, Gabs. Ah, I'm really glad you're here," he commented with a quick nod when he pulled away.

when the blood dries in my veins & my heart feels no more pain i know i'll be on my way to heavens door Death wasn't nearly as scary as Frankie had thought it would be. In fact if anything it was peaceful, easy and she had welcomed it with open arms. But when death came and went she knew that something wasn't right. That she wasn't right. Why wasn't she dead? She was supposed to be, she had heard the nurses saying that they wouldn't be able to save her.. that she had lost too much blood. That if Roy hadn't done what he'd done that she'd be dead. But what had Roy done?
The memory of the moment she had collapsed in his class room came crashing back behind her closed eye lids. She remembered screaming and doubling over as an unbearable pain ripped it's way through her insides. She remembered blood, lots and lots of blood and she remembered falling to the floor and that no one had been there to help her. Except Roy had been there. She hadn't understood what Roy had been doing when he had pressed his wrist to her lips, forcing her to drink a thick and sticky liquid that tasted metallic and warm. She hadn't understood what that action had meant, until now.
Blinking open her eyes, Frankie lay perfectly still as she stared up at the stone ceiling of the hospital wing. It didn't take long for Frankie to piece together what had happened. The nurses had said that Roy had saved her, that she would have been dead otherwise. She had died, she knew she had. But here she was, awake and breathing. Because Roy had given her his blood and Roy was a vampire. The sudden urge to vomit clenched at her insides and automatically Frankie lifted her hands to rest them against her stomach. A frown pulled at her lips when her fingers pressed against flat, smooth flesh. Where was her baby bump?
The room was silent but when Frankie sat up she saw that it wasn't empty. There were nurses dotted around the room, stood at a distance, their wands gripped in their hands. Frankie couldn't understand why they were looking at her like that, with looks of fear and pity and sadness. But that didn't matter right now, all that mattered was the realization she was gradually coming to. As jagged memories began to piece themselves back together, Frankie slowly slipped from the bed and pressed her hands against her hospital gown so that they were against her now perfectly flat stomach. It was like she hadn't been pregnant at all.
A pain, so raw and cold tore through her heart then and tears began to well in the corners of her eyes. It was unbearable and Frankie felt her breath catch in the back of her throat because of it. She finally understood why the nurses were looking at her that way now.. because she had lost her babies, because although she had died, she had come back as something that could very well hurt them. She had come back as a monster and it was all because of Roy.
A whirl of confused emotions raged on inside her mind and Frankie collapsed to her knees. Her body shook with dry, broken sobs. She paid no attention when someone called out "Bethany, no!" and she ignored the rush of footsteps across the stone floor but when she felt an extra pair of arms wrap around her shoulders, her breath hitched and she became perfectly still. The pain of having lost her children, of having become an undead monster was completely forgotten. A different pain attacked her then. It was like a fire was burning through her throat and at that moment all she could think of was how hungry she was and how peculiar and amazing this new smell was.
It was a nurse who had come to hug her, one of the elderly ones. Frankie knew her because she'd helped heel her wrist last year when she'd broken it after falling down the stairs. Her name was Bethany and she was 46 years old, she had two children and was happily married. None of that mattered. All that mattered to Frankie right now was how Bethany smelled. Turning in her arms, Frankie buried her head into the womans neck, broken sobs still shaking her body. Except she wasn't crying anymore, not really. She just wanted to be closer to the alluring smell that seemed to be pouring out of the older woman's every pore.
"I'm so sorry, darling." Bethany whispered, rocking Frankie in her arms. "It's going to be okay honey, it's going to be okay." The smell was overwhelming and as Bethany continued to whisper into her ear, Frankie's sobs slowed to a halt. There was a moment of dead silence then. Frankie could feel the tension in the room, as the other nurses looked on, silent but on edge. She lifted her head slightly and peered at each of the nurses and when Bethany whispered again that everything was going to be okay, Frankie felt something in her mouth prick her lower lip. "I know." she replied before grabbing a handful of Bethany's hair, yanking back her head and sinking her teeth into the older womans neck.
All hell broke loose then. Voices screamed and shouted as Frankie drank greedily from Bethany's neck. She didn't manage to get nearly as much blood as she wanted because another nurse had run at her and another two were firing off spells in her direction. With unnatural speed, Frankie used Bethany's body as a shield against the first two spells to come her way. When Bethany was hit with the petrificus totalus curse, Frankie discarded her body and bolted across the room, leaping at another nurse. Her teeth sank through her flesh like a knife slicing through butter and a soft moan escaped Frankie's lips when blood began to pour into her mouth. The taste was like heaven and it completely eased the burn that had been scratching at her throat like dry sand.
A binding spell hit Frankie from behind and heavy metal chains curled up and around her body like snakes, causing her to drop her victim. An angry growl ripped through the room and Frankie broke from the chains with ease. She whipped around, pulling her blood stained lips up into a snarl and headed straight for the nurse who had hit her with the binding spell. Bolting across the room, Frankie winced when just inches away from the nurse she ran straight into an invisible wall. Infuriated, she tried to go at the nurse again but the invisible wall was still there and when she tried to go around she found that she couldn't. The nurses had cast a spell that had trapped her in an invisible circle. Frankie yowled like a wild animal, slamming her fists against the invisible wall that was keep her prisoner.
An hour passed before Frankie calmed down. She had slipped down the invisible wall and was now sat with her arms wrapped around her knees, her eyes staring emptily at the floor. The nurses fluttered about the room, attending to the injured but Frankie paid them no attention. Now that the vampire in her couldn't feed, the pain of what had happened today came crashing back around her. Her children were gone.. the same unbearable pain wrapped itself tightly around her heart, making it feel as though it weighed a tonne. How was she supposed to go on after having lost her babies? How was she supposed to go on like this? A monster for the rest of her existence.
Tears began to form in the corner of her eyes again but she blinked them away when she felt a sudden pull from across the room. It was strange that she knew Roy was here before he entered the room but she did. Frankie didn't look up right away because she wasn't sure if she could face him without wanting to rip his head off. But then again, it wasn't like she could do anything to him whilst she was trapped in this circle. Slowly she lifted her head and stood, walking to the other side of the circle, towards Roy. The circle wasn't all that big so she was still too far from him but she hoped that he could see the anger written across her face. Anger that she especially held for him.

Based on the fact that Frankie was currently being restrained by a fairly powerful bit of magic, Roy figured it was safe to assume that she wasn't taking well at all to her new found state of being. He hadn't been expecting her to in the least, but it was still an unfortunate circumstance. Though there had been no glimmer of hope that she would somehow just come out of this whole thing with nothing for him to worry about, it was still disappointing that this wasn't at all the case. Roy didn't want to have to babysit a newborn vampire. It required time and effort that, quite frankly, he didn't want to be bothered with. In fact, if he could find another vampire around that was willing to deal with it, than he really didn't have much of a problem passing her off to someone else for awhile. He'd get back to her later when she was relatively normal again. But, so far, no one else wanted the job.
One of the nurses bustled over, her eyes fearfully flicking over towards Frankie every so often, as if she were expecting the girl to bust out and eat the whole lot of them. "She had to be restrained, Professor. She's not ready to be around other people yet," she explained in a hushed whisper. That much was to be expected. It would take at the bare minimum a few days before she would really be able to see anyone and even then, she'd still have to be restrained, just in case. "Alright than. I guess I can take over from here. You ladies did a stellar job. And, if any of you need to talk about what's happened, you come find me. I've been told I'm a fantastic grief councilor," he commented, clapping his hands together and giving them all a sly grin. They seemed hesitant to leave the room, not sure if they were supposed to do as he said or not. In the end, their desire to be rid of the psychotic vampire took over and they hustled out of the room.
Now alone with Frankie, Roy looked over at her with a slightly pitied gaze. It would take far too much work for this. Letting out a rather loud and exaggerated sigh, Roy pulled one of the chairs over and took a seat. His gaze remained on Frankie, slightly bemused and chiding. "Tsk, tsk, Frankie. You've been a bad, bad, vampire," he started off, not at all taking any of this quite as seriously as he should have. Any consequences that befell both Frankie herself and the family had meant pretty much nothing to Roy and really still didn't. Sure, it was a change, but in his mind it was far better than her being dead. Most definitely, it was the lesser of the two evils in this situation. Leaning back in the chair, Roy popped his feet up onto the desk and got himself comfortable. It was unlikely that either of them got to go anywhere for awhile, so he figured he may as well make himself at home.
Turning his attention back towards Frankie, he gave her a wide grin. "Now, first rule of your new life is not to eat people. It's rather rude, wouldn't you think?" he commented lightly. It was much easier for Roy to keep the situation as "jovial" as he could, even though it was rather obvious that it was anything but that. He wasn't sure if she was going to be in any sort of mindframe to answer any of what he was saying, so he simply continued on as if he were having a conversation with himself. Considering she was stuck behind the barrier, it wasn't like there would be any consequences of his prattling on in his mocking tone. Now that he thought about it, perhaps this wouldn't be so bad after all. It could grow to be rather fun, even. "If you're hungry, there are plenty of other things to eat. People are generally at the bottom of the list."

when the blood dries in my veins & my heart feels no more pain i know i'll be on my way to heavens door The rage Frankie felt towards Roy was so powerful and consuming that for a brief moment it stunned her. It was like everything she would have normally felt as a human was magnified by a thousand as a vampire. Her anger was so powerful that it overshadowed the pain she'd been feeling over the loss of her children and that's exactly what Frankie wanted. To forget. So she concentrated on the anger that was raging on inside of her and felt some what relieved when the anger washed away the pain.
As the nurses filed out of the room one by one, Frankie began to pace across the small circle she'd been trapped in. Her eyes never left Roy and when the last nurse left and Roy pulled up a chair, Frankie stopped her pacing and pressed her hands against the invisible wall keeping her from getting at the man on the other side. She didn't appreciate his mocking tone or the fact that he seemed to find this whole damned situation pretty funny. When he commented that she'd been a bad vampire, Frankie simply sneered at him and started her pacing again, unable to stay still for too long.
When Roy mentioned that eating people was wrong, Frankie flinched and then quickly squished any feelings of remorse or guilt. It was a struggle at first but the anger was still powerful enough to keep any other emotion at bay for now. A sigh escaped her lips as Roy rambled on and Frankie turned from her pacing and walked so that she was closer to Roy. "Why did you do this to me? I don't want this." In Frankie's mind being dead was far much better than being undead. "And don't bullshit me and say that you did this out of the goodness of your heart." she hissed, sarcastic and cold. "We both know you don't have one." Frankie really couldn't understand why Roy had done this other than to fuck with her, because that was the kind of guy he was. He only ever did things for himself, no one else, not unless he gained from it. Frankie had been under his spell for so long that once upon a time she'd thought that he could do no wrong. Now she felt like a fool for being so naiive.
