These words and hold our breath Forget the things we swore we meant Pretty much, after he got off of practice with the team, Salvatore didn't have anything else to do with the rest of the day. He could run errands or something, but that sounded terribly dull compared to the entertainment of going out and actually doing something. Salvatore lived for his next great adventure and for some reason, he quite doubted that he would find it grocery shopping. He didn't mind eating out for a few days until he had another chance to go shopping anyways. Obviously, his time was valuable and should be better spent doing something worthwhile. Though, thinking on it, Salv didn't really know what that would amount to. He could always go out with his mates from Quidditch or something, but after spending the whole morning with them, he was rather in the mood for some fresh faces.
Bidding his goodbyes to the others, Salv apparated back to his small apartment to shower off and change into something more suitable to going somewhere. He didn't know where he would end up going, but that didn't matter much to Salv. Just the fact that he would be going anywhere at all was quite enough by him. Shaking the water out of his hair, Salvatore toweled himself off and threw on some other clothes that were actually clean. At the moment, Salvatore was the classic example of being all dressed up with nowhere to go. He looked rather stylish, that was for sure, but he honestly had no idea where he might end up for the night and that was exciting. Being a professional Quidditch player, while perhaps not the most intellectual of pursuits, allowed him to live the fast-paced lifestyle that he found himself quite suited to.
Shrugging into a coat and grabbing his guitar from it's stand, Salvatore left from his apartment to just walk until he decided where he wanted to go. A few feet away from his door, a spark of inspiration caught him and he apparated on the spot. Reappearing, Salvatore found himself just outside the door to Dogweed and Deathcap. It wasn't a place he would really ever have found himself, but for the fact that Cherish Thorne was the owner. Considering it was the middle of the afternoon, he was rather confident that he might find her there and although he was trying to refrain from getting too close to the woman, he couldn't help himself sometimes. Pushing through the door with a playful smirk on his face, Salvatore started to strum at his guitar, making up a goofy tune as he walked into the store. "Oh, Cherry, Cherry, aren't you so very merry," he sang, rather loudly as he walked up towards the front counter. There weren't many customers in the store, but the ones that were there eyed him with a rather strange look. Salvatore didn't care.

Eye-brow raised Cherish turned around with a smile on her face. She was surprised by the visit, but what surprised her even more was the goofy tune. But no comment left her lips as she walked over to a paying customer and apologized, Please don’t mind Sal, Hannah over there will help you. Walking over to where Salvatore stood, guitar in hand, Cherry commented, What exactly inspired that lovely piece? And hopefully you won’t be giving that to me as a Christmas present, cause I’ll tell you now, I rather get a lecture from my Mother and you know exactly how lovely those can be. Rather than continuing their conversation inside the store, Cherry turned around and said, Hannah, I’ll be heading out for a bit, if you have to leave, tell Olivia. Alright? Grabbing her coat and bag, Cherish walked towards the door and asked, Rather than scaring off my costumers, shall we go get a drink? I’ll buy.
It was not that Cherish was embarrassed about Salvatore’s little song, no it was more that she wanted to be more comfortable and having a store in Hogsmeade meant cafes and restaurants were, well, every where. Cafes and restaurants not only provided beverages and treats, but also a comfy chair or two. Much more nicer than her break room in the back. Actually, not really, it was just that some of her employees were in the break room and there was no need to bring her personal life into her work space. No one, not even Dogweed and Deathcap’s co-owner knew of her little romance situation, and Cherry intended on keeping it that. As far as they knew, Salvatore was just a childhood friend, a good one at that.

These words and hold our breath Forget the things we swore we meant The smile on Cherry's face when she turned to face him was all that he wanted to see at the moment, so he considered his jovial tune a resounding success. Perhaps not something he would be able to put a record out of, but it worked for what he was looking for and that was absolutely exciting for him. Perhaps coming to see Cherry hadn't been such a bad idea after all. "I was just inspired by your lovely face," he replied with a chuckle. Maybe attaching that particular tune to Cherry as inspiration wasn't quite so flattering, but obviously he meant it in the best way possible. "Seeing you just makes me want to sing, is all," he quickly added, just to be sure that his intentions were getting across alright, though he made it seem like he was just being his typical, goofy self and that it was another joke. It was just easiest that way.
Now that she mentioned it, Sal hadn't quite gotten on his Christmas shopping as of yet. He didn't have too many people that he had to go shopping for especially, but Cherry was definitely one of those people. "Oh, really? Way to shoot down my special gift, there. I'll have to slave over something new, now," he replied with an exaggerated pout. Sal was a pretty creative guy, so coming up with some sort of gift for Cherry wouldn't be too difficult and inevitably it would be something sweet and touching and all the good things that it was supposed to be. He just had to get around to it. Amused by the fact that she was already shepherding him out of the shop, Sal happily let her lead him out of the store so that he didn't disrupt her customers any further. "Well, as long as you're buying, I suppose I can indulge you a drink or two," he laughed, starting off towards the Three Broomsticks.
Salvatore had no intentions of letting Cherry pay for a thing while he was around, since that just wouldn't have been right to him. Of course, he wasn't going to start up an argument about it and would simply pick the tab up whenever they were finished for the day. "So, how have you been, Miss Thorne?" he asked, looking over at her with a smile as they approached the entrance to the Three Broomsticks. Opening it up, he held the door open for Cherry, closing it behind them when he had entered into the building himself. It was easily the homiest of all the little shops and cafes around Hogsmeade and a place that anyone of any age could gather to share a moment with a friend or a lover. For Sal, it was probably the perfect place to dine on any occasion.

Shaking her head a soft, musical laugh escaped her as she commented, Aw, you are just too kind. Playful banter, that was what often happened whenever she was with him. It was nice, very pleasant. It was also familiar, something that she had grown up with. It was something she did not want to loose and something she feared she might loose if she did choose and follow through with the engagement. But what no one knew was that Cherry had already made up her mind, for the most part.
The only problem she now had was telling her parents as well as the person. But the moment thoughts of the engagement entered her mind, she shook her head and instead responded to Salvatore’s adorable little pout by dramatically placing her right hand over her heart and teasingly responded, I’m towwy Sal, but it was more like torture and I’m certain cruel and unusual punishment is not what you were trying to give me as a present.
Buttoning up her coat Cherish opened the door and left it open long enough for Salvatore to follow her steps while commenting, Haha, only two? I’m certain you’ll be indulging in more than two. But the least I can do since you decided to visit me. Heading towards Three Broomsticks, Cherry responded, I’ve been well. Italy and Greece was amazing. And how have you been Mister de Luca? The smile that had been Cherry’s face grew a little more the moment Sal looked back with one on his face. Nodding her thanks, Cherish entered the pleasant and homey cafe. It made her feel at ease and it also helped that she knew one of the owners of the cafe, Aurora Kirke.
The moment the two entered the cafe, a table for two became available which was cleaned immediately. Cherry commented while heading over, Wow, that’s just pure luck. Taking the farther seat, Cherish sighed contently and looked about before saying in a slightly dreamy tone, Remember when we were we students, we didn’t have a care in the world. No stress, no worries. Just studies and having fun.

These words and hold our breath Forget the things we swore we meant
It was that easy, joking manner than made it easy for Salvatore to be around Cherry. She didn't take everything that he said seriously and knew that a lot of the time he was just playing around and having a good time. There were plenty of people that misconstrued much of what he said, but he rarely had to worry about that with Cherry. She just seemed to know when he meant something in jest and when he was actually serious about what he was saying. That ability to banter freely was one of the things that truly attracted him towards her. Not, of course, that he would be telling her, or anyone else, that fact any time soon.
His mouth gaped open in feigned shock at her comment and Sal let his eyes light up with bemused excitement. "Why, Cherry, that's precisely what I was aiming for. Oh joy of joys, I seem to have succeeded," he huzzahed, laughing slightly as he spoke. He was pretty confident that she was just kidding about that, since his little jingle hadn't been quite that terrible and at least his voice sounded good. Even if the song had been utterly ridiculous, in the grand scheme of things it had been rather charming. At least, Sal liked to think so anyways. "I felt it was a fitting gift, considering the torture you put me through each time we're together," he added with a sly smirk.
That was probably true. Sal wasn't a terrible drinker, but he certainly wouldn't be too happy with just two drinks. After all, that was hardly enough to get a round of drunken karaoke going throughout the cafe and where was the fun in that? "Well, perhaps three, but only to celebrate getting to see one of my favorite people," he relented, a rather wide smile on his face. He was glad to hear that Cherry had been doing well, of course, so he gave her a quick nod of approval. "I've been good, you know. Just a lot of practice for Quidditch and the like. And most of all, missing you, of course." Typical Salvatore, could hardly get through two sentences without some remark intended to flirt with or compliment whoever he was around.
The fact that they were able to find a free table as quickly as they had at such a popular place was certainly a rather brilliant stroke of luck on their part. "Not luck, Cherry, but the sheer power of awesomeness that I have. People just instinctively knew to move," Salvatore nodded, another goofy grin on his face as they went over to take their seats. Cocking his head to the side in interest as Cherry spoke, Salvatore had to agree that sometimes he wished it were still his Hogwarts years. There were far fewer worries back in those days, that was for sure. "Yeah, those were some of the best days. However, I am entirely confident that even with the stress of adulthood, we're coming upon some of the even better years of our lives," Salvatore responded with a passionate nod. He wasn't sure how true that would be, but he was at least a bit hopeful of such things coming true.

Feigning shock, Cherry’s hand immediately covered her mouth as she said, How dare you Salvatore Feliciano de Luca! You are a cruel, cruel man! Here I was thinking we were not only childhood friends, but best friends at that. You’re an evil man, shame, shame. But as she listened to Salvatore some more Cherish’s teasing personality came out even more, And here I thought I put you through torture every time we met, hmmm… Are you a masochist Sal? Oh the press would have a field day if they heard this. As the two entered and sat Cherry shook her head before commenting, Mh’m, of course. The sheer awesomeness that is Salvatore de Luca instead of the fact that they were finished with their meal. Sarcasm and playful, two characteristics that often was seen, no matter who she spoke with. But the fact that Salvatore was a guy she grew up with just added to her sarcasm, at times. However now, it was more less just playfulness. No sarcasm, just teasing, fun.
It reminded her of Hogwarts. Days of fun and freedom, no stresses. Actually more like less stress. No thoughts of engagement and weddings. All she had on her mind was her education but now all she could think of was the engagement that was supposed to happen in two months. Biting her lower lip Cherish softly commented, Haha, well I hope that’s true Sal, cause to be honest… I’m sort of… scared. Frightened. Mum’s breathing down my neck about still not having chosen a fiancee, she’s already pissed that I took a long time traveling Greece and Italy. To top it off, she’s extremely mad and upset about the fact that I decided to take over a shop rather than taking up some Ministry job. Half way through her confession, Cherry shook her head murmuring an apology, Sorry, sorry. We should talk about something more cheerful. Forcing herself to smile and think happy thoughts, Cherish curiously asked, So, Christmas… Are you going to return home for the party for the Christmas Ball?

The fact that Cherry never had a problem giving it back just as much as he gave it made Sal love being around her all the more. He hung around quite a few people and the majority of them just let him tease them mercilessly without even trying to push back. For Sal, that was just no fun, since he thrived on the constant back and forth. "Friends? Is that what you thought?" he added with a wink. Of course they were friends. They had grown up together and had always seemed to get along pretty perfectly, so he was quite glad that they were still able to stay friends. It was sometimes a bit difficult, given the situation, but Sal didn't let that show. They had always known what the situation was going to end up as and it had never made things weird before, so Sal had determined to do his best to keep it that way. However, the more real everything became with the nearing deadline, the harder it sometimes became.
Snorting at her suggestion that he was a masochist, Sal simply shrugged his shoulders. "Only for you. So, perhaps we should just keep it our little secret, hm?" he suggested with a short laugh. To be honest, Sal didn't often care at all what the press had to say about him. He was a good enough guy that he doubted they would find anything too horrid to say and that was what mattered. "Well, obviously it was my awesome that got them to finish their food," he countered with a chuckle as they went over to take the now opened table. Waving over the waitress so that they could put their order in, Salvatore ordered himself a firewhiskey. "And of course whatever she wants, on me," he added. Cherish paying just wasn't going to happen.
With the waitress off to grab their things, Salvatore leaned in forward at the table to give Cherish his full attentions. It was hard to hear about the difficult time that Cherry was having with the marriage situation and her mother's expectations on top of that, since he really just wanted her to have as easy a time as possible. "No, it's alright. You need someone to vent to and ole' Sal is here to listen," he nodded, giving her a bright smile. He didn't particularly care much to talk about it, since it wasn't the most cheery of subjects, but he wasn't about to stop her from talking about something that she needed to. "As for Christmas, that was the plan, yes. My parents would be quite displeased if I didn't make an appearance, I'm afraid. You'll be there though, right?" he asked, a hopeful note to his voice. At least Cherry being there would make it a bit more tolerable.

Cherry shook her head as she replied teasingly, No, we're not friends. That's, well…impossible. After all, I cause you pain each time we meet. The war that the two currently had going on always happened, no matter the situation. But what made it nice was that Salvatore did not just take it, he too gave back. It was nice and enjoyable, not to mention entertaining.
Shaking her head, Cherry laughed softly as she held her tongue and decided to play nice, but the moment Sal said he'd pay for everything Cherry curiously asked as she ordered, And when did I agree to having you pay for my lunch when I said I would buy you lunch for the surprise visit? Butterbeer, for me.
Biting her lower lip, Cherry decided to keep towards the changed topic, My Mum would get very upset if I did not attend, so I most likely will go, show my face around so I can have witnesses then possibly, leave. I mean, balls are lovely and all but I already know what people will ask me and I'll become annoyed. That meant shopping for not only a new ball gown, but shoes, accessories, and bags. Sighing softly a slight scowl appeared on Cherish's face, I don't mind dressing nice, but its annoying and takes time… Meh.

If only Cherry knew just how accurate that was sometimes. "No, definitely not friends. We're obviously something better than that," Sal retorted with a laugh. What, exactly, that meant, Sal himself wasn't even sure. There were certainly plenty of times that Salvatore said things without thinking about them and ended up terribly unsure where he was going with it. That was just one of those bizarre traits that you had to get used to when you were friends with Salvatore. "I'd say we were more like, I don't know, the best of friends maybe. Just maybe," he added with a nod. There came a point in the argument where they were mostly just arguing for the sake of arguing and either way they had already conceded whichever point they were bantering back and forth about.
Giving her an innocent grin, Sal simply shrugged his shoulders. No amount of disagreement would get him to change his mind about treating her. It wasn't like a simple lunch meeting would really be all that big of an expense, especially for Sal. He had never had an issue with money and now that he was a professional Quidditch player, it was even less of an issue. "I'm pretty sure there was an agreement in there somewhere if you jumble the words about a tad," he said, nodding as he spoke. It was a stretch, yes, but Salvatore figured that some random excuse was enough. She honestly couldn't be that upset with him if he wanted to pay, after all.
Salvatore was in complete agreement about the ball situation. While they were alright for a little while to get to see people that you hadn't in quite some time, the conversations that ensued were always the same old subjects and grew to be rather tiring. Honestly, he wouldn't blame her if she left early. "We'll have to come up with some big excuse for the both of us leaving. Like, I don't know, perhaps our mutual friend Sharon needs us to help find her missing elephant," he mused, coming up with some obviously false and out there reason for them to escape from the ball when the time came for it. "Or, you know, perhaps just a bout of food poisoning from our lunch earlier that day," he added, throwing a more sensible possibility into the mix.

Shaking her head Cherish commented in a slightly sarcastic tone, Haha, of course we're best friends. Rather than adding more to it, she instead played nice and ignored his comment. But the slightly crooked grin said what was on her mind. There was no point in continuing their banter, especially considering how it would never end.
Sighing softly Cherry scowled, slightly, before saying, You know I can afford to buy you lunch, its not like I'm broke cause I own a shop. It was not that she insulted by the fact that Salvatore wanted to buy her lunch, it was more about principle. He had visited her and the least she could do was buy him lunch which was why she intended on arguing about who was going to pay, I haven't seen you in a while and didn't I miss your birthday?
The scowl on Cherish's face deepened, I think I'll go, make an appearance, talk to a few people, then leave. But I actually have to buy a stupid dress for this occasion and it'll have to be nice so some stupid name brand then that means accessories and shoes for some stupid occasion and I might never use any of those things again… Bleh. I think we should sneak off towards the end and pretend we had some sort of date with each other, our parents will be happy and they won't complain. Though their parents would get upset, the fact that Cherish would be on a 'date' with Salvatore would be exciting and happy information for both parents which would allow them to leave.

Though he noted the sarcastic tone to her voice, Salvatore gave Cherish a satisfied nod at her response. He wouldn't have wanted their relationship to be any less than it was, even if his growing feelings for the woman might eventually come to cause him quite a bit of distress. However, if he couldn't be more than friends with Cherish, than he was happy to at least be that for now. "Of course," he agreed with a final nod on the matter, giving her a quick wink of amusement as he spoke. He, better than most perhaps, recognized the look on her face quite well. Sometimes it was he who conceded the argument to move on to something else, but other times it was Cherry. Either way, they both ended up giving each other that look at the end of each argument and Sal knew that it would continue up again eventually. It always did.
Even if Cherry owned a shop and was completely capable of paying for their lunch, Salvatore was going to insist to no end that she let him pick up the tab. "I know you can, but that doesn't mean you have to," he nodded, giving her another smile after he finished speaking. He was fully confident that this would turn into their next source of argument, but he was okay with that. Their arguing was what kept things interesting most of the time, it seemed. Though they could have a fine time just talking about things, he felt that the arguments just spiced it up a bit. At the mention of his birthday, Salvatore's forehead wrinkled slightly as he attempted to recall where he had been. "Oh, yes! I was in Nicaragua with a volunteer project for the team," he said with a fond smile. Salvatore loved being able to go out and give back to the community and it was something that he did rather frequently, especially since he was in the public eye. He loved doing it, it gave him a good reputation, and his parents were thrilled to see him making a good name for himself, so everyone ended up winning.
It always amused Salvatore to hear Cherish talk about the events they had to attend and all the preparation that went into it. Personally, he rather enjoyed dressing up and going out to buy new suits for all of the various occasions, but he knew that Cherry certainly didn't share that enjoyment. "How about we go shopping together for all of the things we'll need? I mean, obviously we have to discuss all the little details of our upcoming date, you know. Wouldn't want our parents to be disappointed with us," he suggested with a smile tugging at his lips. Going shopping for prim and proper dresses with Cherry would certainly have been entertaining and was something Sal felt he deserved to experience. Besides, his being there would obviously make it far more tolerable and perhaps even slightly fun.

Despite the sarcastic tone, she was sincere. They were not best friends, they were more. Though she was closer to Alessandro friendship-wise, she had more romantic feelings towards Salvatore. It was hectic and crazy for Cherry. She did not want these emotions, not really. Especially since all she really did was argue on and off with Sal, as entertaining and fun as it all was it was something not many girls would consider romantic. But then again it was something Cherry always did look for in a guy. A guy who could challenge her and not go easy on her.
Laughing softly she tilted her head before commenting, I should of known you were going to say everything was on you. Despite her comment it was not a sign of her caving, in fact the following statement showed this, Must of been amazing, Nicaragua. I haven't had the chance to go, but I've seen photos. But since you were in Nicaragua, I believe I owe you a present. Tucking a stray strand of brunette hair, Cherish smiled faintly as she began to think of the various things she did as a volunteer. Most dealt with animals and plants, but that was because that was what she loved hence her job as the owner of the Dogweed and Deathcap.
Being a girl who dealt with plants and animals her clothing often got dirty which meant she rarely ever bought anything fancy, unless there was some sort of event she had to go to. Really she did not have the slightest idea what to get so having a shopping buddy would be beneficial, Haha that sounds great, I need someone to tell what looks nice on me any way. When shall we get together to plan our little date? Shopping was something not exactly entertaining, but something that she had to do and if Salvatore tagged along it would make it that much more fun.

Of course Cherry should have known better. She probably knew him better than anyone else and would have known that he was the kind of guy that did things like that. They had been out to eat with each other on many occasions and there was never a time that Salvatore didn't insist on picking up the check. "Of course you should. That's why you should just agree to it and accept the fact that I'm paying," he nodded. It was never that easy. With some women, perhaps, it was easy enough, but never with Cherry. Cherry would argue mercilessly until they left the lunch and possibly even after that, which Sal didn't mind. It kept him entertained, at least, which was much more fun than if she were just t agree to let him buy it for her.
Nicaragua had been pretty amazing. It was a gorgeous country, for sure, if a bit less than what he was used to. "You don't owe me anything. I don't believe I really deserve anything special just for having been born. I mean, people do it every day," he retorted with a smirk. Obviously, the less important he made a birthday seem, the less sense it would make for her to owe him. Salvatore was pretty quick witted, so coming up with things at the drop of a hat was never a difficult task for him. In fact, he quite enjoyed seeing what he could come up with as quickly as possible that still made sense. It was kind of like his own little game that he played with himself in his mind whenever he entered into a conversation with someone that could bring out that side of him.
Salvatore wasn't exactly a fashion guru, but he knew when something looked good, at least. He wouldn't let Cherish go to the event looking anything but her best, of course. "Well, let's see. I've got practice tomorrow morning, but I'm free after that. The next day I'm booked completely, but then I'm free the day after that," he answered, pretty sure he wasn't forgetting any major part of his schedule. He could always just reschedule whatever he was doing to make time for Cherry, of course. "But, you know, I'm always able to make time, so what works for you?" he asked. It was best to just find a time that was good for Cherry and then he would figure it out from there. Whenever they got around to it, it was bound to be an entertaining adventure that he would be quite glad he suggested.

Shaking her head Cherish commented, Then you of all people should know I'm going to argue with you about who gets to pay and its not about pride. Its about principle. Arguments were not only entertaining but fun, something that was never-ending with Salvatore and Cherish. It was not like she planned each argument, they just happened. Actually more like Cherish was a girl who always said what was on her mind and that often led to arguments.
Tilting her head to the left Cherry stated casually, This coming from the man who claims to be my best friend. He of all people should know exactly how I feel when it comes to friends and their birthday. Birthdays were important to Cherish, always had been. They were a sign of maturity and age, but also was when they were brought to earth. It was because of that day Cherry ever got to meet them. It was something she intended on trying to celebrate with all of her friends, no matter what.
Though fashion was the last thing on her mind Cherry was well aware how her mother would react if she came in some horrible looking dress which meant dressing nice and if her parents heard she went with Sal that would mean less trouble for the both of them. Wanting to finish the shopping quickly as possible Cherish took the quickest day possible,Hmmm…how about tomorrow afternoon? Though it meant last minute for her co-owner, she hoped the girl would understand and mostly she would since Cherish spent most of her time working on the store.

Of course Sal expected this. Honestly, he wouldn't have wanted it any other way. A cooperative Cherish just wouldn't be the same as his lovely little argumentative one. Perhaps, in a way, he sometimes purposefully did things just to get that fighting spirit worked up in Cherish. Okay, he did so more than just sometimes. "Ah, okay, principle. Well, in that case I must insist that you pay all the bills," he commented, rolling his eyes sarcastically. "Seriously, Cher, I've got it." Salvatore honestly didn't know who would end up winning the argument and he had a feeling that it would simply come down to who could pay the waitress the fastest. They would probably end up looking rather silly about it, but Salvatore didn't ever have a problem with being a bit goofy now and again. It suited him, he thought.
Technically, Cherish did have a point there. He knew quite well how much importance she placed on birthdays, though he took every chance he could to point out just how silly he thought that was. Perhaps it was just the more cynical side of him coming out, but Sal had never really given a damn about birthdays in the least. It was just another day to him and the only good thing that came out of it was giving everyone a chance to eat cake. "Yes, yes, of course. How about you celebrate my birthday by coming to my next Quidditch match, than? That's what I want for my birthday," he requested. Obviously, if she did that than it would silly for her to pay for their drinks right then. More than one gift would just be excessive, as far as Salvatore was concerned and she couldn't possibly deny the birthday boy his wish.
Tomorrow afternoon sounded like a fine time to torture Cherish with a shopping adventure into all the expensive and generally awful stores he could think of. "Excellent. I'm thinking we should head back to Italy to accomplish all of our shopping needs. There are probably more shops there and our parents are more likely to hear about it that way," he suggested. It was a decision that would work out best in more ways than one, so Salvatore saw no logical reason not to be in Italy for the day. He did miss his homeland, besides, so it would be nice to just be around all the things he loved most about growing up.
