Aspen was excited. Actually, she was more than excited, she was positively thrilled. The fact that Hogwarts got to put on an entire charity event was something that Aspen couldn't have been happier about. That, plus the fact that she got to work inside the small tent that had been set up for the sale of food was even more exciting. Aspen was a baker. At least, she liked to think of herself as one. She was the sort that liked to sit around in the kitchens and make foods the muggle way, so she had quite a bit of experience when it came to cooking and the like. Today, they would mostly be using magic to do the work, but that was still an exciting thing for the young girl. Aspen had awoken early to come down to the grounds and help start setting up the event with some of the Ministry officials and so she was already there when the tent went up and the boxes of materials were brought in. Though they weren't supposed to start yet and the rest of the crew had yet to show up, Aspen had already started rifling through the boxes to see what they would be making that day. At the moment, she was sitting atop a box of mix that would be used to make a slew of typical muggle carnival pastries, searching through another box next to her that was filled with cotton candy mix. Yeah, today would be kind of fantastic.

Chalesia was beyond aditated about where she had been placed. It wasn't really because of the people she had to work with though they themselves would probably be annoying, but Chalesia had hoped since she had to help out with the charity the least they could have done is put her in the entertainment group or something not... not BAKING! For goodness sakes even though Chalesia knew much about baking that didn't mean she wanted to have to do it and be all girly today! No she would rather help set up something for like a band or the ball going on or some fun games not be in an apron baking! As she walked down towards the group she noticed Aspen her bright annoying smile shining through everything else, "Could this day really get any worse..." The words slipping out of her mouth she knew had probably jinxed her, but at the moment its all she could say as she headed for the tiny booth.

Lysander wasn't opposed to helping out, exactly, since he was quite happy to be helping, but the fact that he was going to be subjected to a rather large social gathering was somewhat intimidating. Not to mention, he didn't really know any of the people in the group that he had been put into and that always made the boy rather nervous. He knew Aspen somewhat, but she still made him pretty anxious what with her unending cheer, but the others he most definitely did not recognize. However, he was decidedly going to be in a good mood, since it was a rather exciting event, after all. Walking up to the tent that they had been assigned to, Lysander saw that there were already a few people milling about and starting to get to work. He doubted that he was late, but it seemed like Aspen was already busy. Entering in, he saw another girl that probably was assigned to help, but that he didn't entirely know. "Ah, h-hey. You here...to help...too?" he asked, stuttering only slightly as he spoke. It was probably a stupid question, but it wasn't like he knew what else he could possibly say.

Satisfied with her ruffling about, Aspen had a bright smile on her face as she sat there. This was precisely the sort of thing that she loved to do with her time. She was baking, she was doing it for a good cause, and she got to do it alongside a group of people. That was more or less an ideal situation for the girl and she expected no less from the rest of the crew. Looking up as more people started to enter into the tent, Aspen grinned childishly when she saw first Chalesia and then Lysander come. Both of them fell under her list of people that she felt needed her in their lives; Chalesia because she was a Slytherin and Lysander because he was so shy. Bouncing up from where she was sitting, Aspen quickly moved over to where the two were standing to greet them and generally just be cheerful. "Hey guys! Are you both super excited about today? I have a feeling that it's going to be one of the best days ever, don't you?" she questioned, her chipper attitude coming out in full force.

Whoever had made the decision to place Caelum in this stupid bloody event was going to die a horrible, horrible death. The Slytherin was one hundred percent positive that he'd said he hadn't wanted to participate. Yet here he was, heading down to the tent to play server for the day. Which was another thing, Caelum Rynan did not serve other people. As a matter of fact he didn't do anything for anyone but himself and the people that mattered. None of whom would be at the Charity event. But it was fine because Caelum had no intention of doing anything at all to help today. He wouldn't serve and he was not going to fucking bake. He was going to make an appearance, because he had to, and then find some way to weasel himself out of doing anything. The people he was working this today, the annoying blonde, the shy kid and a fellow Slytherin, were people he could easily manipulate and or intimidate. Walking into the tent, Caelum scanned the area with bored eyes and an irritated scowl. This was going to be the longest day on earth.

It wasn't barely ten seconds that Chalesia had been down to the tent and she wanted to either blow it up or at least shut up the blonde aspen. When another fellow member of their group arrived shy out of his bloody mind Chalesia rolled her eyes. Finally the last member which was another slytherin one of which she didn't exactly like came wandering in and she felt she wanted to throw her hands in the air and scream. This was ridiculous she was stuck in a group of assholes, annoyances and completely shy people for the love of god what had she done to deserve this seriously?! Looking over the group though she finally decided hell she might as well do what was needed and then get the fuck up out of here for she didn't want to get caught dead in a place like this. Pulling out her headphones and setting them on her ears she turned on her mp3. Chalesia was someone who prefered to read lips even if she knew the words were annoying for she knew most of the voices were even more annoying then their said words so at least this way she could get through things without to much of a hassle.

As excited as Aspen was to see Lysander and Chalesia, her grin grew tenfold when she saw Caelum walk into the tent. Of all the people that she had taken it upon herself to "help", he was, perhaps, her absolute favorite. He was so quiet and Slytheriny and all the things that Aspen found to be completely sad in life. Dropping her questioning of the other two, she immediately bounced over to where Caelum was to greet him with a giant smile and a friendly hug. "Caelum! You came! I was so super excited when I saw that you were going to be here too and I figured that it would be a great chance for you to meet new people and all kinds of things and I have so many plans and it's going to be an amazing day and I'm so excited!" she babbled, a rush of words coming out much more quickly than they should have. Taking his hand and dragging him over to where the other two were, Aspen started the introductions. "I don't know if you know them, but this is Lysander and Chalesia. Guuuys, this is Caelum! He's going to be the best help ever, I just know it." Whether the other three wanted it or not, this would be the happiest damn tent of them all.

Caelum was sure a part of himself died a little inside when Aspen came bounding over, smile and all, to throw her arms around him in a hug. What the hell was wrong with this girl. Where did she get off thinking she could hug him? Caelum was one hundred percent positive that Aspen thought they were friends. He stared, or rather glared, at the blond as she ranted on and on about... whatever it was she was saying. Caelum had come to find that with Aspen, it was generally easier to just nod his head and go along with whatever she wanted. Especially if it meant getting rid of her sooner. He'd tried everything in the book to get her to back off and leave him alone. Threats didn't work. Bribes didn't work. Nothing worked on her. Caelum was pretty sure she was inhuman. Like maybe she was an angel or something. Because he hadn't met anyone who so happy about everything in life. She was unnaturally cheerful and it was downright irritating.
Of course he only went along with whatever she was saying to an extent and only when he was thrown into a situation where he had to spend time with her. Like now. Because if Aspen had it her way, Caelum would be a happy go lucky guy who always had a smile on his face. The thought was horrifying and it made him visibly cringe.
Caelum glared at both Lysander and the Slytherin girl who Aspen had introduced as Chalesia. He'd thought that having a fellow Slytherin here would make the day much less painful. He'd thought wrong because this girl wasn't someone he cared to talk to. 'Fucking brilliant' He was stuck here with a group of people he detested. Fantastic.
"There's been a mistake." Caelum said, his voice tight. "I'm not supposed to be here."

Really seriously was god trying to punish her for something seriously? What had she done to deserve this she wondered? Pushing her mind away from the rest of the situation knowing this day was just going to get worse as it went so she knew she had to at least distance herself from the group for a while. Even though she had a fellow Slytherin in the group it didn't make things better for Caelum was known to hate pretty much everyone including some in his own house and she knew she was included in this seeing as she was anti-social, a study bug and someone who really never had to good of an attitude, but she knew one thing she had in common with the boy the leach named Aspen. She never left either of them alone when she would notice them and thus she was an annoyance to both people. When Caelum said there was a mistake that he shouldn't be here she smirked the My Chick Bad Remix bumping through her ears as she leaned against a pole which was holding up their area of the "charity."

The obvious fact that Caelum was not nearly as pleased to see her as she was to see him didn't phase Aspen in the slightest. Obviously, he just wasn't the sort of guy that felt comfortable showing any sort of affection while other people were watching, which of course was something that Aspen fully intended to help the boy get over. There were so many little things that she had plans to help him get past and it was oh so very exciting that they had the entire day there together to work on it. As excited as Aspen had been previously, she was much more eager for the day now that she knew who she was working with for the day. Really, it couldn't have gotten better. Keeping her grin plastered to her face, she stepped back slightly further from Caelum to give him some breathing space and so that she could face him while he spoke. Her forehead wrinkled up into a worried frown, not sure what he meant by that. She was pretty sure that his name had been on the list, but perhaps he had been amongst the last minute changes. Yeah, that must have been it. Then it dawned on her. "Oh my goodness! Caelum! You just came to visit me, didn't you? That's so sweet of you! You're the best friend ever," she said excitedly, barely resisting the urge to start jumping up and down excitedly. Closing the gap between them again, she cuddled up next to him in another hug. "I knew you'd come around eventually! Which committee are you s'posed to be on? I can help you get there!" she offered with a smile. Yep, best day ever.

Caelum literally felt his jaw drop when Aspen exclaimed that he'd come to see her and that's why he was in the tent. The look of shocked alarm on his face grew when she exclaimed that he was the best friend ever. And then to top it all off, she went and hugged him again. Caelum remained rooted to the spot, his expression quickly slipped back into it's usual sneer. There was definitely something wrong with this girl. Definitely. But between Aspens squeals of delight and her very unnecessary and unwanted hug, Caelum had a small epiphany. And it was all thanks to the annoying blond. Aspen had given him a reason that could validate why he was here and get him out of working. He'd come to see his good friend Aspen, not to work. In Caelum's mind that was reason enough to have shown up here. Sure it wasn't a likely reason. Because anyone who knew Caelum would know that he wouldn't ever go out of his way to seek out Aspen with the idea of spending time with her. But on one here was at all close with Caelum. For all Lysander and Chalesia knew, Caelum could actually be Aspens friend. And if they challenged this somewhat unlikely turn of events then he'd only be happy to put the others in their places.
"Er, yeah. I'm not actually working today." He explained, shifting his voice to a much more friendly tone. Of course this was only directed at Aspen. He had to actually act like her friend after all. As much as he was sure it was going to kill him. "I just wanted to talk to you about something." He said and then glanced towards the entrance of the tent before looking back to Aspen. "In private." First step done. Now all he had to do was pretend he wanted a word with Aspen, walk out of the tent, make some excuse and then be on his merry way.

The fact that Caelum was now speaking in an almost friendly tone was more than enough to bring a look of complete endearment to Aspen's face. Clearly, she was starting to get through to the boy and he was completely okay with outwardly showing his friendship and affection towards her. Even though he didn't exactly return her hug, he at least didn't try to get out of it and that definitely counted for something. Letting the hug drop, but not leaving from his side, Aspen listened attentively as he spoke. She sadfaced a bit when he said that he wasn't there to work, since that would mean that they weren't spending the entire day together, but it was quickly replaced with an excited grin when he said that he wanted to talk to her. He actually wanted to talk to her. She was obviously a miracle working. Nodding at his request, Aspen hopped to attention and followed him out towards the entrance of the tent, wrapping her arms around one of his as they were walking outside of the tent. "So, what's up? Everything okay? Anything I can help you with?" she questioned, giving him a barrage of questions once they reached the outside of the tent.

Now that Caelum had managed to get himself out of the tent and away from the others with a reason that could pass as genuine so that he wouldn't get in trouble for ditching, he wasn't sure what to say or do to get away from Aspen. In any normal situation he would just walk away from her or make some lame excuse which she was always believed. But as much as he hated to admit it, and he really did hate to admit it, lately he felt sort of bad for lying to her. As far as Caelum was concerned this was proof that he needed to stay away from her before they actually ended up friends.
"Uh, yeah. I just came down here to see if you were planning on going to the ball tonight?" he questioned. The ball was the first thing that had popped into his head and since Aspen seemed to think they were mates it wasn't weird for him to be asking her something like this. It was a shit reason for him to have searched out Aspen, which was why he hadn't wanted to say anything in front of anyone else. Basically, he was being lazy about coming up with something good. Besides Aspen really would believe anything, he doubted she'd question his reason for him asking her this.

Pretty much anything that Caelum could have come up with at that point would have sufficed for Aspen. She never questioned anything that people said or had any doubt that they were being completely honest with her. The way she saw it, there was no reason to be anything but absolutely truthful with her, since she was nothing but honest with them. A naive way of looking at things, perhaps, but Aspen preferred to think the best of people. She was especially apt to think the best of Caelum, since he was one of the people that she had taken on as one of her "projects." Her ultimate goal was to get him to open up and be outgoing, friendly and generally lovable with everyone, so anything that she could take as a small victory cheered her up quite a lot.
Gazing up at him with a look quite akin to an eager puppy, Aspen awaited what Caelum had deemed important enough to come talk to her about. His question, admittedly, surprised her a bit. Well, of course she was going to the ball. It would probably be some of the most fun ever and she wouldn't have missed it for the world and she certainly would have expected Caelum to know the answer to such a question. Unless, of course, he was asking it to lead into a different question. Yes, that obviously must have been it. He was trying to ask her to the ball in a shy, roundabout sort of way. How. Cute. Resisting the urge to twist around and squeal in excitement, Aspen nodded in response to his question. "Mhm! Why? Are you thinking of going too?" she asked, biting at her lip to keep herself from getting too obvious of a knowing grin. Obviously, she didn't want to appear like she already knew what he was asking, since that would simply deter him from his goal.

"Er, yeah. I'm going." He said and watched the blond carefully. It looked like she was a cauldron about ready to bubble over with excitement and Caelum had the sneaking suspicion that it was because she thought that he was going to ask her to go to the ball with him. Truthfully, Caelum already had a girl he was going with; Some seventh year Slytherin named Beth he'd been having the occasional hookups with. Caelum had only agreed to go with her because she'd been nagging him about it the last time they'd been together. He'd only said yes to shut her up.
Caelum didn't know whether to feel annoyed at himself for unintentionally leading Aspen on to thinking that he was going to ask her. Or, annoyed that she'd somehow arrived at this conclusion alone, just like she had when she'd decided they were best friends. Either way, Caelum didn't want to upset the girl. Sure she was irritating and weird but she was also too nice for her own good, which was also irritating, and Caelum thought that upsetting Aspen would be like kicking a puppy; plain old cruel.
"Aspen, do you want me to ask you to the ball?" he asked, switching the pressure from himself and placing it on the blond. There was a hint of amusement in his voice as he quirked his head to the side.
